RV Pre-Trip Checks and Tips

In this RV video, our RV expert demonstrates some of the RV pre-trip checks and preventive maintenance checks you should perform prior to leaving on an RV trip.

Top Tips From This Video

  • Always be sure to check your tires for the proper air pressure when they are cold
  • If your tires show signs of damage, do not drive on them
  • discoloration around lug nuts are an indication they are loose
  • Secure items in your storage compartments and lock all doors
  • Properly stow all hoses
  • Raise any stabilizer jacks or leveling jacks
  • Check all fluids in you RV or two vehicle to ensure they aren’t low
  • Make sure all slideouts are in the travel position
  • Lower your TV antenna, awning and retract steps
  • Fill the fresh water holding tank with enough potable water to get to your desitnation
  • Check all the hitch work, breaks and lights
  • Check lights on the RV and the tow vehcile
  • If towing, preform a break check before each trip
  • Take a walk through the RV interior to make sure everything is secured and locked correctly
  • Always perform a final walk around one last time before leaving
