The Central Canada Region experiences a wide temperature range. The lower portion of this region is just above the Great Lakes and experiences hot summers with a lot of humidity and is considered to be a humid continental climate. Winters are cold and generally have a lot of snow as a result of the lake effect, yet the areas surrounding the shorelines experience a bit warmer temperatures due to stored heat released from the lakes. The farther north you travel in this region, you enter more of a subarctic or tundra climate where the winters are colder and longer and the summers are cooler and shorter but there is less precipitation. Most of the KOA campgrounds in this region are grouped near the Great Lakes or close to the border with the United States and offer great camping and wonderful amenities during the months of April to October.
The Central Canada Region is composed of two provinces, Ontario and Quebec. They are also the two most populated provinces in Canada, containing over 60% of the country's population combined. French is the official language of Quebec. These provinces are bordered on the northern areas by Hudson Bay and Ontario is bordered on the southern areas by four of the Great Lakes; Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Ontario shares a border with Minnesota in the United States. Quebec also shares borders with the states of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. There are numerous outdoor attractions in this region, including many of Canada's national parks. In Quebec, In Ontario, you can visit the famous Niagara Falls, or Horseshoe Falls and Algonquin and Killarney Provincial Parks. The national parks in this province include Bruce Peninsula, Georgian Bay Islands, Point Pelee, Pukaskwa, and Thousand Islands National Parks. Ottawa, the nation's capital, is located in southern Ontario and borders Gatineau, Quebec. In Toronto, Ontario's capital, you can see the CN Tower and ride up 553 meters to the top in a glass elevator. Montreal and Quebec City are the most populated cities in Quebec. This province is home to Forillon, La Mauricie and Mingan Archipelago National Parks.
