Clean, beautiful, kind people. Thank you

Very nice campground, friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and well maintained. Would recommend to everyone. We are staying here again next year

Family really enjoyed the stay. Clean campsites and clean restrooms. Will definitely come back again.

We love this KOA. We've stayed there several times

We stayed just one Saturday night in site, #76. it wasn’t level and without unhooking our truck we couldn’t do more than level side to side, but it was okay enough. We slept well and glad that nearby road and train noise disappeared over night! I used the shower and must say it was the best in 3 months on the road! New, spotless, great water pressure; just heavenly!

Great stay just a little noisy with trains and highway so close.

Nice overnight stop. However, $4.75 for a load of laundry? Do better!

Very clean well looked after campsite. Great location for access to Lava Hot Springs town. Only downside was noise from the trains and trucks 24/7. Both train track and road run in front of the camp site.

It started with nickel and diming me for NOT wanting to be next to the main building and adding a pet fee (that was not previously disclosed). Then, charging DOUBLE for a supposedly less noisy location that was over the top noisy with the TRAIN TRACKS and the LOUD HIGHWAY. The TINY Pet enclosure was stinky even to me and had huge holes from previous animals digging. Absolutely the WORST stay!

Beautiful campgrounds! Friendly staff. Campgrounds well maintained and clean!

The park is well maintained. You can see all the hard work that goes into the lovely plantings and well maintained grass areas. Appreciated the clean bathrooms/showers, plenty of hot water.

There is a surprise $6 pet fee at check in, the first time I have ever paid such a charge at KOA. There is no nighttime lighting in the area i stayed. Facilities were very nice.

I paid for the premium wifi but they had free and that was not stated on the website. They both were not strong enough to stream anything. No one mentions how noisy it is from the trains and the I tartare right next to the campgrounds. The site itself it very nice and kept very clean. Nice bathroom and laundry facilities.

KOA Hot Lava East was absolutely fantastic! The location is perfect, everything was spotless, and the staff were not only professional but also incredibly friendly. We’ve always had great experiences with KOA, but this one truly stands out as the best yet. We can’t wait to come back!!

Our stay was very relaxing & the staff was very friendly. We will be back next year, thanks again.

the pull thru sites look getto, sparse grass & too narrow with old wheel buried in the ground for a fire ring, also dangerous because they are left open to fall into! Loud trains all night! The hike to the bathroom was way too far. Bathroom looked nice, but lots of water on the floor if someone showered, someone using a hair dryer could be electricuted! TERRIBLE STAY!

This is probably the nicest KOA we have ever stayed in. Each time we return more improvements have been made. We will definitely plan a trip there this next year. I highly recommend this campground!

Always a great place to stay

Everything was great. Host, bath rooms, the park, camp site. Everything, however HWY30 and trains was a mess. Loud mess. Jake brakes per Semi all night long and locomotives all the time as well. I would tell everyone NOT to forget your earplugs.

Was very clean & quiet place to stay. Like the trees & grass in our site!

Very nice park on the Portneuf River. Short walk to downtown and hot springs.
Sep 13, 2025
Hiway and train track was very loud all night.
Sep 13, 2025
the KOA camp ground was right next to a railroad that ran 4 or 5 times during the day and 2 to 3 times a night and was at the bottom of a highway that truckers used frequently and with no Jake brake rules so very very loud, Other than that the camp was well groomed and clean with shade trees and plenty of room between trailer spots

Great place, great views. This is our second time here and we’ll be back

It is very nice campground in excellent location. For some reason, they could not extend our stay in campground that was only half full. Also they double prices on weekend.

We loved the KOA at Lava Hot Springs! Clean, friendly staff, and very well kept. I would recommend this KOA to anyone traveling through Idaho! Wish we would have booked for a longer stay.

I enjoyed my stay. I thought the cement in different spots was a trip hazzard. There seemed to be a lot of raised curbs near campsites
Sep 09, 2025
Everything is clean and well maintained. Recent improvements were very well done. Beautiful place!

Other than the couple fighting in the upper tent parking area and the guests with the 2 barking German Shepherds, our stay was good. The wife and I stay here every time we visit Lava. Michael did a great job escorting and traffic control.
Sep 07, 2025
Park is well maintained and in a beautiful surrounding. Only complaint would be the traffic noise.

Great rv park. Clean and very well kept. The only drawback is being right by the train tracks with a constant stream of trains all night.
Sep 05, 2025
Nice people at check in. Restroom, showers were clean and pleasant. The whole camp ground was in great shape. Hook ups were convenient. Proximity to hot springs was good.

Great campground and great staff

Park is well maintained. Highly recommended.

Lovely site, excellent facilities.
Sep 03, 2025
It is nice to see a great camp ground put some money back into the facility.
Sep 03, 2025
Extremely overpriced, extremely crowded, noisy trains, nearby, and tight little spots not really my vibe when camping
Sep 02, 2025
Assigned space extremely small, fires should be banned, extremely noisy with highway and train route adjacent to the campground. Out of control neighbors (music, kids running through campgrounds. speeding vehicles) Also, extremely overpriced. This is a very poor location for a campground if you want to relax. Hookups were good and campground is clean.

We just pulled in for an overnight stay, as the place we had booked was a bit sketchy. We were lucky Lava Hot Springs had a spot for us, as it was Labor Day Weekend. We didn't use any of the amenities since it was a short stay. It is a great place for families, lots to do with a water park just down the road, with another KOA available.

Would’ve been five stars, but charging an extra six dollars for a cat is ridiculous! Especially after paying the most I’ve ever paid for a KOA.
Aug 28, 2025
The facilities were in great condition and had lots of upgrades since our last stay. Clean showers and grounds are greatly appreciated. Please consider working with Lava Hot Springs to eliminate skunks in the area. Their smell was quite noticeable & they are rabies carriers. Also, it would be nice if Lava Hot Springs prohibited the use of engine brakes by semi-trucks passing through town.

Great location to the hotel springs and river tubing. We had a great site #223, private grass area, cement area, tables & chairs & fire pit. The best showers we've seen yet at any campground. We had some troubles and had to push our reservation back a day, and they were so cool about it. Loved this place.

Really nice campground and staff. Just know that if you camp in the spring on the west side of the campground the cottonwood trees just dump fluff all over and tons of pollen. All of our stuff and inside of our trailer was covered in it. Also note that you will be right by the trains that go all night and blow their horns. Also the highway is really loud right there. Even inside our trailer we woke up multiple times from the noise. Nothing against the campground, just be prepared for sleep disruption.
