Campground Reviews

Been coming here for years even before it was koa. Cottonwood campground. Now the place is nice and upkept but you are taking every available chunk of land and putting cabins on it or more rv sites. It’s also become very expensive to come to lava. What once was $30-$50 a night has now doubled if not more! I like the place but with the space lost and the prices we pay now it makes trips limited.

This was such a beautiful campground nestled into the trees next to the river. We had a premium spot on the river and would highly recommend! Staff was friendly, campground was clean, and a walking distance to town. Will be coming back!

Great atmosphere, great campground. Very clean and maintained

Cabin was clean and we definitely enjoyed our stay, the only complaint i have is they could be furnished a little better. Like actual cups, utensils, plates, bowls etc and dish towels for 4 people if the cabin has accommodations for 4.

Lava KOA East was the best! We stayed at the west one the first night and didn’t like it at all. This one was way better and the staff was way cooler! Definitely staying there again next year!

Really nice place. One minus is highway and railroad noise. I got along fine as I travel with ear plugs.

Nice location. Clean. Nice patio. Two very uncomfortable chairs however. Nice people there and pleasant place.

Friendly and personal service! On our second night, a group of 10+ people pitched seven tents in the two spots next to us (way over the limit). The managers quickly rectified the situation so we didn't have to drive 7 hours at 6 pm to get home. We really like the cabins and tent sites, but will try to avoid the busiest summer weekends next time.

A beautiful park, in a popular area of Idaho. Close to town and tourist attractions. The sites are shaded, and facilities are very clean and well maintained. It is also close to the road and adjacent railroad track, so there is noise. But it’s our only complaint; everything else was very nice.

2 day get away was so fun. The cabin had everything you needed. My family of 4 was so comfortable.

We learned on the morning we were checking out that there were bathrooms and showers available to use with a code we were never given. Our suburban also sustained damage from a flying table from another camp in a wind storm. For the price we paid, we would definitely not stay here again. Lava Hot Springs was great, but not so much the KOA.

Some amenties in the deluxe cabins would be nice (at least a bar of soap, and possibly also pillows, towels, sheets). The mattress was unbelievably squishy.

Clean & great location to activities in town.

Lovely little campsite. Very clean, decent space and accessible to downtown activities. My only suggestion is to have a place for my things in the shower room - a table, stool or something. If someone was disabled, I'm not sure how they'd manage.

Great place to stay! We usually come to Lava in the winter and didn't anticipate we wouldn't be able to find a hotel in the summer. Decided to tent it at the KOA instead and was not disappointed! 5 minute walk to downtown, the bathrooms and showers were clean, we had a nice little spot in the corner, it was perfect!

Our stay was amazing! Bathrooms had private shower included and were maintained very well. Front office made check in very easy and helped with any questions. Location was great with the river directly behind with a tube float available. Had an amazing time!

Excellent campground, wonderful staff , beautiful bathroom and overall great experience! After staying at multiple KOAs over the past few weeks, this one ranks in the top!

The KOA and its facilities are very nice. There were lots of variety of places to stay for campers, cabins or few tent sites. The location is near a very loud interstate and very, very active railway, so the noise was almost unbearable if you are in a tent. I'm sure the campers and cabins have a better experience. If you are staying in a tent, bring ear plugs.

We are full timers and stay at KOA often. We have never been to a KOA that charges for Internet and pets. Furthermore, we didn’t realize that the weekend rate began on a Thursday night. it is a rip off to charge for Internet these days, especially when the rate is already over $100 a night.

Really nice campground and staff. Just know that if you camp in the spring on the west side of the campground the cottonwood trees just dump fluff all over and tons of pollen. All of our stuff and inside of our trailer was covered in it. Also note that you will be right by the trains that go all night and blow their horns. Also the highway is really loud right there. Even inside our trailer we woke up multiple times from the noise. Nothing against the campground, just be prepared for sleep disruption.
