The campground itself was great. The cabin was disappointing particularly the smell from the water. I know it’s well water but the lines definitely haven’t been flushed in a long time and as soon as we turned the water on, there was a terrible smell like rotten eggs that consumed the entire cabin. We didn’t use the water because of this. Other than that, no issues.

It was absolutely beautiful there. Employees were exceptional from Shelly at check in the maintenance man the cleaning person kudos our glamping tent was spotless. Our only problem was no towel rack bar in the bathroom . Also it would be nice to have a handicap bar next to toilet as toilet was low and it was difficult for my friend to get up as she had hip and knee replacement. Need weedwack firep

Cabin was clean and spacious! We enjoyed our stay! The kids loved the swimming and fishing ponds. They also loved the jumping pillow. Staff was very friendly.

Stayed one night as passing thru in the deluxe cabin with pond view. Extremely friendly staff. Very enjoyable stay. Only issue was that the cabin needs to be leveled. It is sloping. Would definitely come back and stay longer.

Throughout our visit we enjoyed the smiling, happy face of Shelly. When we experienced a power outage that resulted in no electricity, (no heat, lights, water) . I went up to the main office to see what was going on and I found several people complaining at Shelly about the situation and she somehow remained calm and collected as few people could have imagined and said that it would be resolved.

We have stayed at this KOA for about 5 years, stop over for our trip to and from Illinois. We stay twice each year.This year was the first year we arrived after 5 and I was very disappointed there was no one to contact for keys to our cabin. My phone calls and text to contact # were not responded to. Luckily a very nice permanent camper found them for us in the little house by the night check in.

The farmhouse cabin we stayed in is beautiful and spacious. The only downfall was the queen bed in the loft. There are 2 but one has a mattress than sinks in the middle making it unusable. Definitely needs to be replaced.the other two in the cabin are very comfortable. The outside needs a little touch up but it is very early in the season. Grass definitely should of been cut around the cabin.

There was no hot water in the “deluxe cabin”. I called the emergency phone number and left 2 messages that were never returned. We figured out that a breaker was popped after searching and we were able to get lukewarm water for our shower. When I complained at checkout i was told “I’ll write it down”. We stayed in the glamming tent, it was beautiful! Pristine linens, amazing spa like bathroom, excellent outdoor seating. Everything you would need to make camping top notch.

The deluxe cabin was just what I needed. It was cozy & warm (and super clean). My pup enjoyed a walk around the campground and she had the KampK9 to herself. This was my second time camping here and i’d come back again.

I loved our cabin. I just wish they would’ve let us know that there would be silverware, towels, grill, keurig. I think some of these items could be listed better on your website along with pictures of inside the cabin.

The cabin was very nice for 3 adult couples staying. Plenty of room for our camper friends to hang out inside and enjoy dinner together, Clean! Downside, the mattresses were HORRIBLE. They are so worn out and no support, You sink into the center of the bed, making it impossible to sleep with my spouse. Air mattresses were set up on night 2 of the stay. Better to sleep on hard floor!

We always have a great time at Thompson KOA. Just disappointed with having to charge our golf cart. We rented for one day only on Saturday and we were told we needed to charge from the last people that used it. It should be in the policy that the people need to charge at night so it is ready for the next campers to use. It cost a lot of money for one day. It should be ready upon use!!

We have visited this KOA for several years and always enjoyed our stay, but this year was different. For Halloween weekend they had no Halloween decorations, activities were lacking, only 3xl t-shirts available for tie-dying, grass/bushes/weeds overgrown and the bed sheets in the cabin we rented had someone else’s long black hair and blood on them. Definitely not worth the $450 price tag.

The bed frame was broken And the mattress is well worn. We were told the month before that it was taken care of and it wasn’t. For the rates you charge, the cabin NEEDS a new mattress. We are contemplating our next two reservations.

09-12-2025 - We brought our Granddaughter there for the weekend and rented a Deluxe Cabin. We found the cabin to be clean and comfortable. The camp grounds were expansive and pretty. Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the pool as it closed the weekend prior but we intend on bringing her back next year. I highly recommend a stay. Karen and Family

My post will be comparing to other KOA's we frequent- Friendly staff but VERY few staff. Lots of areas around the camp ground needed attention and updating For the cabin there were many nails sticking out of the wood and that was a safety concern as well as loose railing at cabin. I really feel this location would thrive with more staff to repair, clean and revive the swim pond & "walking trails"!

The glamping tent sight was just beautiful! Fishing right from our site was so much fun! The playground and jump pad was perfect for the children. The farm house was just breath taking, I loved the tree inside and the windows, the views from the wrap around porch were amazing, and the cozy outdoor dining. It was very spacious and clean. We had a great family experience!

I was not as impressed with this campground as I was when I went in 2024. The landscaping needed attention in the pillow area and the community center with the piano needed cleaned. The top of the bar/table (inside) was covered in bird poop. The sheet to my pull out bed in Deluxe Cabin 1 was definitely not changed and there was a water bottle under the couch.

Very nice campground, thank you. A little more heat in the glamping tents would help. Also, some towel hooks in tent would be helpful. Very much enjoyed the glamping tent overall and the campground in general. Nice way to camp, bring your stuff and unpack! A lot of time is saved already having the tent and beds set up for you when staying in the glamping tent. Highly recommend!

Another great stay at the Thompson KOA! Cabin was spotless once again (shout out to Alex!) and staff was friendly. Our kids always enjoy the inflatables in the pond, jump pad and large playground. Lots of laughs at the belly flop contest �Ϝ Can’t wait to return!!

I had my mom's 67th birthday at the glamping tent! It was beautiful and she was so happy that it was so close to the fishing pond. She's on an oxygen machine and it was great for her, her favorite thing to do is fish. We will be back before the season is over for sure!

The camp grounds were amazing cabin was beautiful. The kids unattended at the pool making fun of a child with autism and after another child asked them to stop they started mocking him that was first day second day adults at the pool were making comments about a child with a disability.As his grandma I’m very disappointed that in this world sucks

We came in from Florida and had our first annual family reunion for our stay. Our grandchildren loved the pool, swimming pond, and the outdoor bouncy pillow (all the outdoor activities for the children). We will be back next year for sure. Thank you KOA.

It was really nice! cabin DC7 definitely needs some repairs/updates though. The shower barely worked, the sink was clogged, and the AC unit smelled really bad and moldy. I wouldn't even mention those things since it's camping but it was more expensive than a nice hotel so those things were pretty annoying. We'd still come again though because the kids had a great time!

We love Thompson KOA and have stayed many times. We originally scheduled for two nights and then called back and extended our stay two more nights, in another available site, and we repeated information back. When we checked in, they didn’t have the second reservation . They apologized and said a new girl must have not entered in the computer and had no accommodations

Staff is awesome. The campground offers many activities for kids. Although we are retired, we enjoyed the pool and area attractions like winery tours and visiting Geneva on the Lake. The snack shack offers many food choices on Fridays and Saturdays.

To me I feel when you pick a certain place that is your choice to move. Wanted to leave a positive review to off set the negative ones, as majority of the negative reviews are false and from disgruntled seasonal campers who were reaping benefits while the previous managers were here, and are no longer benefiting so feelings are hurt. The grounds are well maintained, activities for kids are happening, the pool is open and warm, the pond has inflatables on it and fresh sand on the beach, campers are quiet after 11 (the review about the golf cart parade well after 11 is 100% false), the fishing pond is full of fish, gem mining, playground, jump pillow and more ! This is a great place to bring your family for a weekend of fun. Unfortunately there are campers here still who would rather see this place go under than thrive because they were all friends with the previous managers. If you ask me the old manager should be held accountable for their behaviors as it was the environment he and his family created. As an older couple here we see a lot of family's come and enjoy this place, Give this place a try you won't be disappointed!
