Good location, place is a bit up and down, bathrooms a bit worn, but all in all OK

No food storage box for tent campsites. Barthrooms are far from camp sites. Very less number of toilets for the number of campsites. No illumination/lighting on the path. hard to navigate on foot in dark. access to bathroom needs going through stairs, not a good one for aged.

I really like this campground. And I have a favorite campsite. When I have to come up to SLO for work I try to fit in a weekend camp here. Staff is great, they keep everything clean and tidy. No one bugs you and the deer and wild turkeys that wonder through is an added bonus!

I loved the amount of space that the tent sites have! Everything was clean and the employees were very friendly.

Such friendly staff. Took my call at 8:59 when they close at 9:00. We got there real late and they were just closing up. After a long ride in the dense fog and cold, she opened up the office and switched us to a Kabin. Very nice KOA, our first experience with a Kamping Kabin and we were so grateful for not having to pitch the tent after the super long day of riding. Overlooks the ocean.

Thank you for the kind comments, however, Santa Margarita KOA does not overlook the ocean. We are a half mile from Santa Margarita Lake that will allow swimming starting in 2027!!!

The Staff was welcoming and friendly. My kids loved the activities, and it was a great first time camping experience for my little ones. WE loved it and will definitely be camping with KOA again!

I would give it 5 stars based on staff alone �. Bo (sp?) at the store is THE BEST! She was so friendly, funny and very helpful! The grounds were well kept, we noticed the little touches at each site (they blew the leaves and raked!). Kids had fun at the huge jumping pillow and they practiced volleyball at the court. Overall a pleasant getaway and really loved our site! (#25) Thank you!

It's a tight area,roads steep,Need jeep,Sign in was PRESSURED,to sigh film release , We're adults we don't need manipulation ( we would have done it.)Treat the people in front of you right and they'll come back.

Our stay was very relaxing and peaceful. My daughter enjoyed seeing all the different wildlife that wonders in the campground. We also enjoyed the different scavenger hunts that was available for my daughter to do. The pool was also a great way to stay fresh when it got to hot during the day.

We had a good time with family. The restrooms were dirty did not get cleaned all weekend. The toilet had stains all weekend.

I would recommend this LOA location, but the amount of dust is beyond bearable. If people drove slower, then that would helped, but trucks drive through so fast that the dust is just too much for me to return and recommend. Staff were very welcoming, but dust dust dust! If the drive ways are paved and side are covered in stones, then I would go back often!

The state of the campground was very poor. Restroom toilets were out of order, and the condition of the access roads was horrible. The tent site was not level. way overpriced for what was offered.

I was initially reassigned to a site different than what I booked. I had booked a particular site because of its proximity to other amenities. The new site did not meet my previously held expectations for how we like to enjoy the grounds. I talked to staff about it and we found a solution and were able to move sites. I appreciated their willingness to work with us and ensure we enjoyed our stay.

Daisy was a really great worker. She checked on us and was extremelly friendly. All other staff was just as great as well. Restrooms look good and pool was fun! Would definetly return in the future.

We came to celebrate our son’s 4th birthday and his first camping trip. It couldn’t have been better! We can’t wait to go back. The staff were so incredibly kind and helpful too! The jumping pillow is incredible!!

I liked the clean amenities, proximity to nice attractions (ziplines, horseback rides, dunes, lake) and outdoor common areas (bouncy pillow, vb court) . Didn't love the campground's layout (a bit inconvenient and counterintuitive to get around) and limited space for the campsite. VB court wasn't in a great shape due to a soggy net and lack of court lines.

We stayed at the “Fish Bowl” site at KOA Santa Margarita and had a great experience. The site was clean and private. The campground was very close to the lake, less than a five minute drive. We saw a variety of wildlife during our stay which added to our experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The site is a great spot for a quiet, scenic getaway. We would definitely stay here again

We have stayed at dozens campgrounds across the country. We have come to expect that KOA Holiday campgrounds will be the nicest of them. Unfortunately, this KOA ranked as one of the worst. The bathrooms were never cleaned in our three days. Permanent residents at the campground made it feel like a trailer park rather than a Holiday. The amenities were mostly run down and needed sprucing up.

It was perfect. Clean! Lots of walking options. Daisy was so very nice. Love the Stargazing Hill. It's fun to watch all the kids on the Pillow.

It was a sudden weekend getaway, and we loved it. The staff was helpful, the area was clean, and being a bit off-season, it was neither crowded or noisey. We loved the wildlife that just wandered around. We had not been able to go camping in a few years and it was great. I look forward to coming back.

Campground is on a tiered plateau physical layout, difficult to navigate. i inquired 2x via phone on an extended stay and owner did not return my phone calls because 1) she was late for a luncheon and 2) she was on a deadline. Left a very poor impression.

Friendly and helpful staff, like new RV sites, clean bathrooms & showers, along with laundry rooms. Great place to stay for families and larger groups.
