We came to celebrate our son’s 4th birthday and his first camping trip. It couldn’t have been better! We can’t wait to go back. The staff were so incredibly kind and helpful too! The jumping pillow is incredible!!

I liked the clean amenities, proximity to nice attractions (ziplines, horseback rides, dunes, lake) and outdoor common areas (bouncy pillow, vb court) . Didn't love the campground's layout (a bit inconvenient and counterintuitive to get around) and limited space for the campsite. VB court wasn't in a great shape due to a soggy net and lack of court lines.

We stayed at the “Fish Bowl” site at KOA Santa Margarita and had a great experience. The site was clean and private. The campground was very close to the lake, less than a five minute drive. We saw a variety of wildlife during our stay which added to our experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The site is a great spot for a quiet, scenic getaway. We would definitely stay here again

We have stayed at dozens campgrounds across the country. We have come to expect that KOA Holiday campgrounds will be the nicest of them. Unfortunately, this KOA ranked as one of the worst. The bathrooms were never cleaned in our three days. Permanent residents at the campground made it feel like a trailer park rather than a Holiday. The amenities were mostly run down and needed sprucing up.

It was perfect. Clean! Lots of walking options. Daisy was so very nice. Love the Stargazing Hill. It's fun to watch all the kids on the Pillow.

It was a sudden weekend getaway, and we loved it. The staff was helpful, the area was clean, and being a bit off-season, it was neither crowded or noisey. We loved the wildlife that just wandered around. We had not been able to go camping in a few years and it was great. I look forward to coming back.

Campground is on a tiered plateau physical layout, difficult to navigate. i inquired 2x via phone on an extended stay and owner did not return my phone calls because 1) she was late for a luncheon and 2) she was on a deadline. Left a very poor impression.

Staff is friendly and helpful, bathrooms were amazing and spotless, wildlife was plentiful and beautiful, the sites were well kept and the location was great. Will be back again! Thanks for a great stay!

Campground felt like we were really out in nature. It wasn't crowded at all. So many activities for the family. I would have rated a 5 star, but the bathroom was only cleaned once during our stay. Really wish the bathroom would have been kept better.

Beautiful clean campground with each campsite feeling secluded. Staff were great and helpful. Lots of hills within the camp to walk around. Fun area for kids. Lots of woodpeckers, and saw deer within the camp.

Quiet during the week and fills up for the weekend. Very dusty, hilly location, so forget bikes. It’s nice that each spot has its own secluded area. Nobody bothered to clean the bathrooms our entire stay of 5 days, nor fix the broken toilet leaking all over the floor. They do a lot of activities for kids on Saturdays. Location is excellent, near lake and Pismo/Morro/etc.

Loved the pool and arts and crafts for kids. Showers are free, but bathrooms are far and few. We had to climb to get to our bathrooms and we had a few people fall. It would be helpful if the map showed all the mountains and cliffs.

We love this place, but it would be nice if it was a little cleaner, the restroom near our campsite was dirty for all 3 days we were there with feces splattered on the toilet. The pool is a nice touch but it was yellowish & full of hair, we also didn’t see anyone clean it the entire time we stayed. All the other KOA’s that we stayed at on our trip cleaned the bathrooms daily. Their sign said periodically it should be daily. Bo was very nice she left me a roll of quarters to wash and dry with and I paid her back the next morning.

We stayed in a tent site at the Santa Margarita KOA for ten days while visiting family in the area. Our stay overall was very good. Pros: a well stocked camp store, very helpful staff, and a very clean, well maintained and beautiful campground. We had a big group of 68 people. Thanks for Karen and Michelle for arranging the big site for us. The facility and utilities were just perfect. We stayed at KOA last year. Definitely will be back next year.

My review is 5 stars because I like the hilly walks, the nature and my kids did too. But I have to juxtapose that to my wife who had challenges and her father had challenges too. This KOA is top tier if you are looking for Southern California nature. But if you have mobility issues, or looking for something more urban, it is probably a no go.
