It is a really interesting KOA on a hillside. I like the variety of sites and wildness of the place. The staff was helpful, but a little distracted as we interacted with them. I felt like we had 1/2 of their attention when we were checking in between 8-9pm. They intended to put out a map with key, but it wasn't there when we arrived. Fortunately we had a phone to call and get some help in 15 min.

We just stayed the night, spent most of the time at the lake for my fathers celebration of life. The cabin was perfect for our needs. Clean and in great shape. Got it for the included bathroom. Getting to old to hike to the bathrooms. Wish we had more time to explore the camp grounds.

The kids had a blast. My wife not so much, she didn't like traversing the hilly terrain. So if you have troubles walking on fairly steep hills, this isn't the place for you. Otherwise it is great and the people working there are great too.

We come here every year with our family. We love this place! This past trip we had some problems with our cabin and the manager was so responsive and helpful. She offered us a different cabin to make sure we were comfortable. We had a wonderful stay and will be back again next year!

It was a lovely campground. I really liked the cabin we stayed in. The staff was very polite and helpful. I loved seeing the wild animals around the campground like turkeys, quail, and deer. I hope to return some day.

The lady at the front desk was the best part of our stay! She was so sweet and helpful to us and our kids. The place is fun, cabin looked new and clean, bathroom/shower was wonderful. Lots of hills but it an easy walk. Only negative thing was that just way too many pick up trucks were driving fast up and down the main area, and we had to stop so many times when we were on our bikes.

Great place to stay. The cabin we reserved wasn't ready for us so we got an upgrade. Beautiful and cozy. My only gripe would be the water pressure in the shower was really bad. Otherwise a awesome place to stay.

There were so many flies and mosquitoes in the afternoon and evening that we couldn't be outside until early in the morning. The cups in our cabin were put away wet. The pathway from our cabin to the playground was steep and dusty so the kids kept falling. Finally the kids wanted to jump on the jumping pillow before we left but it was deflated all day the day we left. So disappointed in this KOA.

Loved our stay! We stay at Santa Margarita KOA at least 4 times a year. My husband and I love that the lake is very close by for fishing. Our cabin was clean and so comfortable

At first we booked the smaller cabins with the bed, bunks, and no bathroom. But upon arrival, we found out that they upgraded us to the ones with toilet, shower, and separate room with the bunk beds for no additional cost. It was my best friend’s bachelorette weekend and it was an awesome surprise for us! We had an amazing stay, enjoyed the lake, and will definitely be returning sometime soon!!

Everything was lovely. A few minor nitpicks are that the yurt window flaps were not able to be rolled up and that there was a small ditch to drive across to get into the parking space. Probably both of these have to do with the recent rains though.

I really enjoyed my time there. The surrounding nature was beautiful. Other campers were respectful. My cabin was lovely and warm and clean. I appreciated the quick help of the staff when I was having problems with my heater. I also loved that there was a camp store on site in case I forgot anything.

The unit was not fully clean. There was still trash in the trashcans and the tp was out on the roll. Additionally, the shower had no hot water. We tried multiple times to fix it. The wifi is weak and the camp roads are dangerous, dark, and rusted. We were promised a discount and charged in full and the major amenities we paid for didnt work.

Very happy with our quick stay here for the spartan race nearby. I am wanting to come back here just to camp and enjoy! It was a great experience and I am looking forward to returning and doing a full on camping experience. Thanks!

The mattresses in the loft had cracks and holes in them. The mattresses were dirty. The hot water would not come on. When they fixed it, it was too hot. I could not get wifi in the house or on the porch. Staff was very kind.

We had a great time! Staff was very attentive! Wild turkeys were fun. The campfire ring was clean and well maintained. Cabins (87&88) worked nicely for our two families and the beds were very comfortable do got great sleep!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The deluxe cabin was immaculately clean and well-maintained. It came equipped with all the essentials, including paper plates, bowls, napkins, utensils, a coffee maker, and a small refrigerator - everything one could need! We appreciated the opportunity to cook outdoors. Additionally, the water pressure in the shower was impressive! We will certainly return.

Fourth time at the Santa Margarita KOA, really like the location but the services are inconsistent. I enjoy the larger cabins, but for the high cost, there are some concerns. (1) The shower faciet was nearly broken and took two hands and some serious fiddling with it to get hot water, (2 The microwave and hotplates didn't work, I had to go out back and reset the breaker, and (3) No towels.

We enjoyed our cabin. What a treat to have a microwave and refrigerator. Staff was pleasant. Only concern was we were assigned a cabin with another cabin attached to the back. We did not come to the woods to be right next to another family in the same building. Luckily for us, no one came there. We should have been notified of this possibility.

This is our first time in years that we did not have a pleasant experience. Our second nite we got bites like crazy thinking they were mosquitoes we treated them as such but then they started popping out like the pox went to the dr and they determined they were bed bug bites. We were in cabin. Check your cabins if that’s were you chose to be.

We stayed in a basic cabin and everything was in order and clean. We waited 30min for hay rides that got camcelled, so that was a bummer. Our friends stayed in a Deluxe Cabin and got bed bug bites, so we probably will never stay in one of those.

I noticed first couple of nights mens restroom were not cleaned. Trash on floor and one of the toilet �� stalls was over flowed. Other then that I appreciate being in same cabin as I had from a previously stay with koa- santa margarita ��� thank you �

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful -I stayed in a cabin which was unfortunately a distance from the rest of my family in RV's (I didn't know their spot numbers - so my fault, not campgrounds) Cabin was very nice! returned to cabin at 8 pm to find no hot water or working stove. (grandson took cold bath) Someone came quick ly to fix. A small discount would have been nice - but great cab

My review is 5 stars because I like the hilly walks, the nature and my kids did too. But I have to juxtapose that to my wife who had challenges and her father had challenges too. This KOA is top tier if you are looking for Southern California nature. But if you have mobility issues, or looking for something more urban, it is probably a no go.
