Cabin & campground are nice but I had loud neighbors who partied well past 10pm quiet time. There were many empty cabins so spacing people a little more apart would be helpful. I had a terrible night for over $100 to sleep (or not). So disappointing.

Enjoyed our stay despite the weather. Were able to move into a cabin the last couple of nights which we really appreciated. Everyone was very nice, especially Daisy who offered us an upgrade to the cabin the cold, rainy night, very thoughtful. Roads in the campground could have more gravel, since the area is in a moist environment (at least when we were there). Surrounded by nature, lots of birds.

Absolute highlight: staff were pleasant and helpful, especially Daisy and Ryan! Deluxe cabin #87 was well-appointed. Little children enjoyed the loft enormously. Kitchenette is rather limited for indoor cooking and dining. If the weather is nice, plan to cook on the grill right outside and dine on the spacious patio instead! Bring lights!

We really enjoyed our stay at the KOA and our little cabin #80. You should know that there is a very unpleasant odor that made being inside a little uncomfortable. it does smell like a skunk sprayed or marijuana inside. There's a small opening at the front of the deck so possible a skunk has taken up residence under?

The staff is helpful and committed to making your stay the best experience possible. Ryan is great! He went out of his way to improve the quality of my vacation every day. Winter car camping is great at this KOA.

Stay was great. I liked the access to SLO. Cabin was clean and nice. HOWEVER, there is one important thing to bring to staffs attention: There is something wrong with furnace. Whenever I turned on furnace, the rooms become full of skunks smell. I believe there is skunk odor stock in the filter perhaps. It was unbearable. We had to do wash or cloth several times to get the skunk odor off.

We stayed in a deluxe cabin(#3). Most of our group was in rv sites, and a few were in other cabins. Everything was great except the draining of the sinks etc, and flushing the toilet. You could not flush the toilet twice in a row and had to wait probably 20 minutes between. A little difficult for a group of 4-6 with kids. It looked like they had been having some issues with the septic system.

Love our cabin. It’s a beautiful place to visit. Not sure why there were no coffee filters this year and the cabin wasn’t very clean. But it won’t keep me from coming back. �

I liked the activities they had for kids. I am giving it 3 stars because the cabins were not clean. The cabin where my family and I stayed had spider webs and dust. We were able to tell that the cabins were not deeply cleaned. The restrooms and showers also had spider webs inside and outside the facility. To us, cleanliness is very important because it makes our stay more comfortable & enjoyable.

The reception was amazing. They were so helpful and accommodating! Cabin was clean and nice. The bathroom were old and ugly and need to be remodeled. Did not enjoy taking a shower in them. Other than that stay was nice.

We really enjoyed our stay. In fact, we liked it so much, we will be staying next year in June. The amenities are nice and it is very close to the lake and other activities. The only negative part about our stay were the yellowjackets.

I love Santa Margarita Koa, they are full of fun activities for the whole family, my only complaint is that the place needs more bathrooms, it gets very crowded and long waits to get in, I wish they build at least one more station. But still my favorite place.

Our cabin stay was a disappointing. Extremely hot in the cabin (even with all windows open for several hours before bed), the nearest bathrooms were a ways uphill, unpleasant smells in pool/laundry areas, dirty bathrooms:(

Great stay, really enjoy the property, this is our thrid visit. We've come with an RV once, used the deluxe cabin once #86, and stayed in the smaller deluxe cabin this time, #21. A few comments: (1) Faucet in the bathroom was clogged with scale, (2) Wifi was very bad on bathhouse row, basically unusable (3) Disc golf course should be more frequently mowed, grass very long, saw several snakes.

This was my 3rd stay. I've done both tent and cabin camping and had a great time every time. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean, lots of kid friendly activities and I'll definitely be back again this fall. Deluxe cabins are worth the splurge if you need to do a lot of cooking. Full size fridge and oven with a gas range on top. Love this place!

KOA has been our annual camping spot for MANY years and we have always loved it. There was a short-term management change that made our experience not as enjoyable the last time BUT it seems things are back on track, as this year was such fun again! We love the pool, foam pit and slide, all adding to our family experience. Great folks and fun at Margarita KOA, for sure! Highly recommend this KOA.

When we initially checked in staff forgot to give me the key to get into the yurt. We had to drive back down to the office for the key. Upon returning to the yurt, we opened it and went inside, yurt was extremely hot, it had not been opened for air to ventilate. It was disappointing. The reason for our trip, it was my husband’s 50th birthday. I had to call staff several times for help.

We got the premium cabin which was spacious and comfortable. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Accommodations were clean and well located. Please upgrade the premium cabin with a real AC unit instead of the swamp cooler.

Wonderful!! Such fun for me, my adult children and 4 grandsons. Cabins were amazing. We cooked all our meals outside on the wood fire and ate at the picnic table. Tent site was quiet with a beautiful view. Kids enjoyed the pool and bouncy pad. We rented a pontoon on the lake, docked and had a picnic lunch. A perfect get-away, just 2 hours from home.

My review is 5 stars because I like the hilly walks, the nature and my kids did too. But I have to juxtapose that to my wife who had challenges and her father had challenges too. This KOA is top tier if you are looking for Southern California nature. But if you have mobility issues, or looking for something more urban, it is probably a no go.
