I liked the activities they had for kids. I am giving it 3 stars because the cabins were not clean. The cabin where my family and I stayed had spider webs and dust. We were able to tell that the cabins were not deeply cleaned. The restrooms and showers also had spider webs inside and outside the facility. To us, cleanliness is very important because it makes our stay more comfortable & enjoyable.

Campground was exceptionally clean and campers were friendly and courteous. I appreciated the layout and various overlooks throughout the property. We did experience a large amount of aggressive hornets at our site. Owen was phenomenal sharing hiking suggestions and directions, however the woman inside the office lacked customer service skills.

Convenient store, pretty terrain, lake right nearby. I just wish they would bump up the curfew. We were unable to attend multiple events and attractions in surrounding locations because of it. It was also 109 degrees the whole time and we were assigned (upon arrival) one of the few full sun spots. Surrounding sites were full of shade and vacant the whole stay.

Necessary facilities (toilets, showers) are not accessible. My site was not level, at least in range of power source. Price was excessive, beyond what I found prior to or after my stay at other KOAs. To charge for waste dumping is unbelievable given the already outrageous fee charged. Playground equipment seemed to at children occupied and happy...not something I used as an 84 senior.

Only issue I had was that made mistake on my days Had to leave a day earlier than I booked and i explained made error one lady was kind to say would take day off but other lady said couldnt because could have given to another camper. The campsite was empty on the day we had to leave so pretty sure i could have been accomidated this one time.other than that I like campground

This KOA was disappointing. Site 78 was up a steep hill with tight turns and basically a narrow driveway with a picnic table. The spot sloped down the hill and the spot was advertised water and electric but there was no electricity. We pre ordered things to be delivered to our site and they were not there upon arrival and no one answers the after hours phone. The bathrooms were very nice.

We were close to the playground which was so nice because we had our little granddaughter with us. The jumping pillow was a big hit!

What a beautiful location. Clean and well maintained. It was very quiet and peaceful. The store is well stocked with any supply you can imagine! Very welcoming and kind staff. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back again.

The reception was amazing. They were so helpful and accommodating! Cabin was clean and nice. The bathroom were old and ugly and need to be remodeled. Did not enjoy taking a shower in them. Other than that stay was nice.

We were in a beautifully located spot (#62). The spaces were spacious and the RV area was not at all crowded. We appreciated the camp store, although we did not purchase anything. We didn't do any of the Saturday activities, however, if our grandchildren were with us, we would have. I loved watching the kids and adults enjoy the jump pad. Such a unique feature! Site facilities work and are reasonably clean. We came to stargaze and was able to get a clear view. Floodlights outside of the bathroom building could be angled lower - its blindingly bright even from our campsite which is uphill.

We were only at the campground for 1 night. The staff was very friendly. The campground was large, it had a great deal of activities to participate in. We were very satisfied.

Stayed 7 nights on our road trip from Connecticut. Loved the location, we were able to see what we planned on the 1st highway area. The staff is friendly. There are great places for tents at the top. The pool is not very clean, as are the restrooms. There was no cleaning on weekdays, only on weekends when there are a lot of people. Lots of wasps, gnats, but that's nature. We really enjoyed our stay. In fact, we liked it so much, we will be staying next year in June. The amenities are nice and it is very close to the lake and other activities. The only negative part about our stay were the yellowjackets.

I love Santa Margarita Koa, they are full of fun activities for the whole family, my only complaint is that the place needs more bathrooms, it gets very crowded and long waits to get in, I wish they build at least one more station. But still my favorite place.

Our cabin stay was a disappointing. Extremely hot in the cabin (even with all windows open for several hours before bed), the nearest bathrooms were a ways uphill, unpleasant smells in pool/laundry areas, dirty bathrooms:(

Great stay, really enjoy the property, this is our thrid visit. We've come with an RV once, used the deluxe cabin once #86, and stayed in the smaller deluxe cabin this time, #21. A few comments: (1) Faucet in the bathroom was clogged with scale, (2) Wifi was very bad on bathhouse row, basically unusable (3) Disc golf course should be more frequently mowed, grass very long, saw several snakes.

I reserved Site 62, your premiere site. I loved: that it was by itself, could be driven into and directly straight out of, the concrete platform with the wrought iron table and chairs and umbrella, the bigger firepit and chairs, and we enjoyed stargazing late into the night. Thank you for driving us back up the hill on that hot day. Oh, and the pool was great!

We’ve stayed here many times, my husband and I always have a great time. We just arrived home after staying there this week with our son and his family. We made some new friends and met many nice folks. We had a blast!! I have recommended KOA Santa Margarita campground to many of our friends.

My review is 5 stars because I like the hilly walks, the nature and my kids did too. But I have to juxtapose that to my wife who had challenges and her father had challenges too. This KOA is top tier if you are looking for Southern California nature. But if you have mobility issues, or looking for something more urban, it is probably a no go.
