Stayed 2 nites in patio site. Loved grilling dinner. Enjoyed new pool & water slide. Took trail ride & chuckwagon dinner. It was like a one stop shop and close to Mt. Rushmore &Keystone & Custer State Park. Grateful for golf cart rentals, as we are getting older and this made it more enjoyable to get around. Stayed here 10 yrs. ago, last time we were in Black Hills & you have only gotten better!

Hosted a family reunion here and used the Reunion Hall. Beautiful and equipped place to host it.

We enjoyed our stay!! We love all the kids activities that you offer!! Not impressed with there being more gravel, less grass at the camp sites in the 400’s. The shower curtains need replaced more often as they are Gross and the vents in the shower need cleaned.

Um…AMAZING! We camped here for 5 days during Sturgis. There was a rodeo free to campers one night, and various music entertainers each night and horseback riding available each day. We missed the chuckwagon but there was all you can eat pancakes each morning for $3.99 and on site pizza, ice cream and coffee. We needed to stay longer to enjoy the many amenities. We will be back.

The resort is located in an island with cell phone reception... the free Wi-Fi was just okay, but I thought it could have been improved. The prices of groceries were extremely inflated. I paid $10 for a 12 oz squeeze bottle of kraft mayonnaise.. it's unnecessary for you all to increase the price by over 100%. The International exchange students make cheap labor, but they were clueless/unhelpful.

It's a beautiful campground - so many amenities and activities to do, including plenty of food options. We appreciated how beautiful the grounds were and really enjoyed our stay. The only thing lacking was onsite/campground wifi - which in this day and age is essential to those who work while traveling.

Stayed for three nights during Sturgis Rally. While the campground was very clean with lots of available activities, I found it was too congested. The camping spots are close, there was lots of traffic, and there were no sidewalks. I was concerned each time I walked with my granddaughter.

It’s a beautiful camp with lots of amenities. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Next time we will pay extra to choose our site, as we were placed at a site on the main entry access lane.

We felt like the staff was very professional and friendly. We were there 2 days with water and electric and when another campsite that had full hook ups opened up they made sure we knew it was available. We didn’t have any complaints at all and highly recommend Palmer Gulch KOA!

All though we were only there for a short stay we enjoyed our stay and felt that the accomadations were well provided and there were alot of things to do. We would definately recommend to ur family and friends that camp to stay at your facility.

Reserved section 13 months out, the site selected by team was uneven and the bench was broken. Bench is unsafe with screw that stick out. It is disappointing that i made a $100+ deposit 13 months in advance for a premium site. Your primary job of koa campground is simple and maintain a level site and working amenities. This KOA VIP membership is false representation, most likely will not ren

We stay for bike week. Great location. Everything is clean & well taken care off. It would be nice to have better wifi. That is the thing I would like to see improved. Booked again for next year!!

Beautiful campground loved it!

Our area was very noise. With little grandkids noise after 10-11 is unacceptable!!

The setting is absolutely beautiful. We did the pancake breakfast for the kids in the morning, and you receive more than enough food! There is a nice restaurant as well as a bar onsite (wished the bar would've been open a little longer). The bathrooms and laundry facilities are very clean. We wished that we could have stayed one more day here. Easy drive to Mount Rushmore with our motorhome.

We stayed 3 days and thought it was reasonable and good camp overall. However, the internet was the worst. KOA should invest in better and faster internet. Facilities need an upgrade with better cleanliness. Curtains were moldy and coming apart. Customer service could be better. Especially in the restaurants and food handling. Kids loved the activities and pools.

We stayed 8 nights with 2 of our grandchildren. We did the 1 1/2 hrs trail ride, chuckwagon dinner, the restaurants, golf cart rental and the bus shuttle to Mt Rushmore. It's a beautiful facility.

We camped in site on hill. Very nice location with trees and all hook-ups at site worked well. Resort had lots of amenities. The WiFi/cell reception was not good - even when we walked down to check-in area. Great location to see Mount Rushmore and Black Hills.

Overall nice stay. Bathroom and shower house not easily accessible to sites that are not full hookup. Have to walk across bridge and around all the full hookup sites. Site was reserved for a 32 ft trailer but back in was not possible if you followed the one way. And not room to park tow vehicle at site.

Nice campground. Friendly staff.

We don't care for the new rain shower heads in the front bath house, grounds and bath house - restrooms not as clean as in the past.
Aug 11, 2023
Enjoyed the stay and amenities with our family.

It was OK for the location. Didn't need all the extras. Also, who would put a huge speed-up halfway back to camping sites. Really. You are already going slow due to curves. It topples everything in rv. That will keep me from coming back and recommending it.

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
