Campground Reviews

After a very long day of hiking, we hoped to have access to a hot shower which unfortunately was not available - the hot water lasted 20 seconds at a time, and was cold the rest. There was black mould in the corner of the bathtub, and a web with several flies caught in the corner of the bathroom. For the price, I wasn't happy with what we got.

Place was very nice and facilities clean. Our site was hard to drive into with car. Large rock and steep entry making it difficult to drive in.

Conveniently located and super clean with mature forests. The staff were very friendly. Highly recommend this KOA !

The campground was clean and well maintained. The staff were all helpful and friendly! It’s a beautiful campground!

The campsites are large and clean. The gentleman Josh was friendly and helpful. A friend stayed in a cabin and they were clean but she had to bring the towels to office to get clean ones instead of the cleaning crew coming to replace them. 3 days before we were to arrive we found out that the campground had moved and doesn't have the pool or on the river anymore. It was quite disappointing.

No pool, so it is not a holiday. Sign “under construction” has been there for 2 Years. Not on the river anymore either. Signs of expansion across the street but no sign that a pool is coming.

Everything was good except a lot of tent sites seemed to be crammed on hills. We enjoyed your previous location more.

All good except for internet access was lousy!

It was nice, friendly and helpful. But it wasn’t how it was advertised and definitely not worth $100 a night. Where were the kayak, canoe and stand-up paddle board rentals? Where was any water? Sure there was a lot that fell from the sky. I believe you owe me the difference in cost from any state park and what I paid you for just as little. Soooooo disappointed.

Our stay was very good per usual. The only complaint (minor) was that we were not given the spot that we had reserved as we were told the space was not available on check in (even though we reserved it last October). But then the spot we requested was empty for 3 days as we sat there staring at it. Didn't understand why we couldn't get our usual spot and an explanation was never given.

Enjoyed it

This the 4th visit to the KOA. Second year at the new location and we were able to book and stay in the same cabin. Last summer I was pregnant and this summer I got to experience the same place with my baby with me. It’s a beautiful location that is very well maintained with appearance and cleanliness. Every year leaving is so bittersweet. I’m already looking forward to the next stay.

The motel was clean and well furnished, very comfortable. I stayed a few years ago and was disappointed that the swimming pools were gone as well as the Pavillion and camp fire rings for the motel guests to use. I went on the internet and there is still sites with at least one pool being mentioned.

Laura, Lisa, Josh (and the list of names goes on and on) and the entire crew of Lake Placid KOA are truly phenomenal. We had family and friends in two cabins, the motel and at 7 pull-in sites who all commented on how professional the personnel were and how clean and maintained the entire camp was. We cannot wait to see the new renovations when they are completed. John Ploskonka

Too many unpleasant issues with the campground and more so with the arrogant management running it . U need to change management or close the place . Spend all that $$$ and have significant issues with my cabin and site .

It was good other than no outlets in the cabin so could not use extra light or tv. Also porch light was out the entire stay, so made it hard to see at night. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I've a one room cabin CC51. Equipment *5, Cleanliness *5, Staff *5. What prevented me of giving full 5 stars are: this cabin orientation (porches facing each other); no gravel path to porch from the road; toilets/showers availability and care, practically no WiFi despite your advertisement (nowadays is important since the data on phone is also not working properly). Is better than the last year.

The remodeling of the rooms are in keeping with being in the Adirondack region and the staff of this KOA are simply amazing in their hospitality to all. Thank you all for what you do and who you are. John Ploskonka (Sergeant Major, United States Marine Corps, retired)

It was awesome. Thanks as always!

Cabins and outside were clean and efficient. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Price: This sites were priced higher than other KOAs in the country. Amenities:This is the first KOA that did not have an activities for my kinds or a pool. I thought there was a pool when we booked. The dog park was dissatisfying. Location: it was nice being more wooded. We will not stay here again. It just lacked amenities for the price.

We had a wonderful camping experience Rest rooms were clean and tidy Staff were very friendly

It would be nice to have a dining table inside the lodge, which can be used in rainy days. Overall our stay was nice. The campground was clean and staff members friendly.

Very clean and bathrooms and showers very clean. The people that are running the camp ground very helpful and nice. Lots to do outside around the area.

Its was a okay stay, honestly our family camps frequently all over the country and once or twice a season we choose a KOA for its family fun activities. The cost is a lot compared to other campsites, and this koa was nice quiet nice staff beautiful scenery but not much for the kids to do for the price of the stay

It was our first time staying here and we had an awesome stay. We didn’t tent site for camping. The bathroom and showers were super clean with actual hot water. Quiet time after 10pm was actually quiet and we didn’t have to worry about parties or other loud music. The guest store has everything you could possibly need in case anything was forgotten. We will definitely be returning.

Very clean, very quiet and excellent service

One of the cleanest facility that we have visited in recent times. Every step of the way we had someone to help us out with information and suggestions. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Other guests around were mostly families and were civil and thoughtful. Noise levels were well under control through the night. Cabin was as advertised and was more than convenient. Loved every bit of our stay

Very nice staff, we stayed at the cabin which was really nice, public washroom were neat. Overall very nice camping ground.

Very nice place but I would try to put some stone dust in the new rocks you put down for the roads around the campground. It is very noisy, you can even hear the people walking. I would also suggest to have more washrooms near the cabins. Gets very busy with the cabins, tents, etc.

Staff at this campground are phenomenal, Very friendly and helpful. Can not say enough good things about them! The campground itself is underwhelming, Lacking many amenities and convivences. Bathhouses were dirty and covered in mud and water.

It's a fine place for families to camp at. However, I would have much preferred to choose my own camp site. You stuck me right next to the playground. More foot traffic around my site than I cared for, my car got hit by a football, and let me tell you how much fun it is trying to fall asleep while a teenager repeats "CHOO CHOO" while playing on the train.

I stayed in a hotel room that is owned by KOA. Rate was reasonable. Room was clean with one exception the light in the bathroom had some dead bugs in it. Mattresses were old and not great but it was $110 per night so I had lower expectations. Nice mini fridge and microwave, bathroom. Overall good place to sleep for a fishing trip.,

We had a lovely quiet time. Our goal was to camp with amenities near some hiking trails. It was lovely, staff was amazing, and all common areas were crazy clean. It was a little difficult re: the bathroom. My son is autistic and he found the bathrooms difficult. We normally camp places that had 1-3 individual bathroom/shower combos.

Sites were big and good hookups. Seemed strange there were water lines and wires laying on the ground. Staff was friendly. A little pricey.

***Update 2025** The new KOA is barebones and not worth the same price of admission. The old KOA on foxfarm is undergoing renovations or is permanently closed. Which is sad because it was a special place. The new KOA is pretty much a parking lot without much trees on one side l, the other that has tents is more conventional but the place is outdated and the pool wasn't working on my last visit. Buyer beware, this place isn't the best. ** THE BELOW REVIEW IS FOR THE OLD CAMPGROUND at Fox run road which is now closed or being renovated** This is our favorite camping place. The rates are affordable for all. We have stayed here 4 years in a row. We have done the cabins, tent camping and recently glamping. Tent sites - On a sand pad, some have electricity, some don't. Bathrooms nearby are clean and have showers with warm water. Staff cleans bathrooms throughout the day. Can't ask for more! Always plenty of sites available with their own fire rings. Kids can ride their bikes to 1 of 2 playgrounds safely. Cabins - We stayed in deluxe cabins and it was awesome. They are right on a cliff above the below stream and you can hear the rushing water constantly. They have 4 bunks in most of them with a pull out couch and queen bed. Also a private bathroom that has soap provided, a kitchen and living room with table. Outside has a deck, firepit, adirondack chairs, and gas bbq grill. Perfect for family outings without having to rough it. Glamping - This is new and we did it recently 6/4/21. The tent is beautiful and has 2 rooms, one queen and one with 3 bunk beds. There is space to hang your stuff, a deck with a picnic table, a gas grill (no utensils provided, BYO), a fire ring, 4 adirondack chairs and it is close to the stream in an isolated area. There are 4 tents. GT2 >1 are very close to each other so be aware of that. The nearby bathrooms are very nice and clean with hot water and a tiny walk away. This place will deliver ice and firewood to your site if you call and request or ask at check in which is AWESOME. There is a heated pool next to the lodge which is awesome. There are 2 playgrounds, an arcade and mini golf on site. The staff are the friendliest people ever and are so nice. Highly recommend for everyone to check this place out. Veterans and Military discounts available.
