Join in the fun when Lake Placid / Whiteface Mountain KOA hosts the USA Bobsled & Skeleton team for a meet-and-greet followed by family activities and fundraising barbecue. Activities include: Winter Olympics themed scavenger hunt, featuring the athletes as the team and kids as captains, overview of the sport and Q&A with the athletes. A fundraiser and barbecue, with all proceeds going toward KOA Care Camps, will take place. Barbecue begins at 6 p.m. costing $5, and includes a ticket to be placed in a drawing to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the nearby Olympic Training Center. Additional tickets can be purchased for $5 or five for $20—all to benefit KOA Care Camps. The event will conclude with a s'more station over an open campfire. The public is invited to participate in all events.

15th annual Lake Placid Marathon — June 9, 2019
As of 2017, the Lake Placid Marathon is a certified course and a qualifier for the Boston Marathon!This is a 13.1 mile half marathon run or 26.2 mile marathon run. Each June, the Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon attracts athletes and spectators from all over North America and abroad. That includes runners from more than 40 U.S. states as well as Canada, Bermuda, New Zealand, Panama and Europe. With that kind of reach, registration typically fills up quickly!
Internationally Renowned Lake Placid, NY Horse Shows
The 50th Annual Lake Placid Horse Show kicks off June 25 and runs through June 30. The 2019 action continues with the I Love New York Horse Show from July 2 to 7. Come experience two of the nation's most prominent equestrian events and watch as world class riders and horses vie for more than $550,000 in prize money and awards in championship Hunter and Jumper competitions.
