At an elevation of 7,000 feet, this pinon-shaded campground atop a mesa makes for comfortably cool summer nights.

Just a short drive from this mountain sports town and the depot for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, the Durango KOA provides a panoramic view of the jagged San Juan Mountains. At an elevation of 7,000 feet, this pinon-shaded campground atop a mesa makes for comfortably cool summer nights. It's a fine spot to relax around the pool, enjoy kid's activities and free nightly movies. The campground offers pizza, pancakes, ice cream & pies. This year we are adding a slushy machine! Several outfitters guide kayak and whitewater raft outings on the Animas River, which flows through downtown Durango. Dozens of galleries, shops and restaurants line its charming streets. In the area, you'll also find hiking, biking, fishing, outfitted jeep tours and horseback riding. The Durango KOA serves as a great base camp for Mesa Verde National Park.

Close

Jay and Carol Coates and the Durango KOA have been chosen as KOA's 2012 Franchisee of the Year! We both are very grateful for this honor and will try even harder in the future to make our guests stays as memorable as possible.

Besides the new pool in 2010, this year we are adding six "Studio Lodges", a vegetable & composting demonstration project and other beautification details.

Before purchasing the Durango KOA Kampground, they spent 17 years in the fast-paced restaurant business. "We decided to stay in the hospitality industry, and invest in our future, but we wanted to lose the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia," says Carol. "Durango is a beautiful place to vacation and live."

Since 1992, the Coates have been providing their campers with a very clean, well-maintained park with great service, "We take great pride in our park; we work very hard to keep it this way," says Carol.
