I have been bringing my family to camp in Townsend myself for about 3 years now, and staying at a different primitive site campground, where it costs $30-60 a night. The biggest difference in amenities between the 2 campground for me was the bike rental, but everything else was pretty much the same. I'm not sure we will stay again at the current KOA cost, but it was very nice and well-kept.

Everything about our stay at the Townsend KOA was above and beyond all of my expectations. Will be coming back and also referring friends

Check in/out was quick and easy. All KOA Team members were very friendly and helpful. The grounds and facilities are well maintained.

Stay was overall good. The family in site 124 had a dog that was left in the tent all day every day that barked quite a bit. The bathrooms could definitely use a cleaning more than once a day. There was excrement smeared on toilet seat and on the floor in the women’s room, When it was cleaned only the toilet seat was cleaned not the floor. Other than those. If bears continue to be an issue, campground may want to consider bear boxes for the tent campsites. But that being said, we tent camped and was mindful of putting food into bear safe cooler and totes; and throwing trash into dumpster before bedding down and had zero issues. Loved camping by the stream and will be back.

It was good. Just didn't expect the "primitive" camping spots to be so close together. Otherwise no issues and sweet staff.

We had the most amazing stay! It was so peaceful and relaxing. The groundskeepers were so helpful. Tom really stood out for us. He had the best recommendations to see and try while on our stay! We will be back this year!

Check in easy. Staff was friendly. Campground was kept blown clean, even on a very rainy day.

I’ve stayed at this KOA the past several years. It’s always quiet and super clean. The office staff is great and very accommodating. The maintenance guys I can’t say enough about them. They are great and Sean to really care about the people staying there. I can’t wait to be back next spring.

The campground and staff was very nice. The reason for a poor rating was due to the face that the tent sites are right on top if one another. The tent site we stayed in had no gravel or anything on it, thankfully it didn’t rain or it would’ve been a pure mud hole disaster. No concrete or gravel around the table, the fire ring was broken, so you couldn’t cook on the rack. No hook for lantern

This is our 20th year camping during Labor day weekend. This year was the worse. The camp site reservations were totally messed up. They put a random camper in the middle of our group of 9 family sites. The camper was unusual and I was very concerned about of safety. In addition the bathroom toilet stayed clogged. The employees were heard arguing very unprofessionally.

The employees using leaf blowers during meal time is disturbing and blows dirt on the food. Otherwise, nice campground.

Had a blast for a family outing to celebrate a milestone birthday for my brother. I know for a fact site 125 for tents wasn't tent pitching friendly. Too many tree roots and gravel under the mulch. We finally got stakes driven in but now we have to replace the bent stakes. Spectacular site but not worth the pain.

We enjoyed our single day stay at the KOA. All of the staff members were helpful and friendly. The facilities were clean, and the campground was very nice!

All 3 mornings we were woke up around 6am even though quiet time was until 8am. First day, someone was using and impact to lower their RV. And the next two days, there were dogs barking. No one enforces these quiet times. Everything is on top of itself. And small sites. Facilities were clean though. Except some of the showers; some had things sitting on the drains. Def wouldn’t recommend.

We loved the location near the river, the pool, and the dog park area. This is a beautiful spot for tent camping. The bathrooms and showers could use more attention. Thanks for a great stay.

Been to this KOA many times. Best place to stay near tail of the dragon and foot hills parkway.

I was able to (easily) make a tent site reservation over the phone. (with a real person) We arrived after office had closed but KOA sent text telling me where my information was when I arrived. The campsite was nice and well kept. If/when return to the area I will strongly consider using Townsend KOA again.

Amazing campsites right on little river. The staff responds instantly to all needs. And it's located perfectly in Townsend to walk to stuff and short drives to everything else.

This KOA Campground is a great location while visiting the Smoky Mountains! Beautiful grounds with lots of trees for shade. The staff was very accommodating and friendly!
