We had issues with WiFi. Our phones and iPad hooked up fine. Couldn’t get our new smart tvs to connect. We called the office and were directed to ITTeches. After an hour on the phone, still no help. They were to call us back and never did. Very disappointing.

We love staying here. I think it might be our 5th year? The campground is always clean and well-maintained even during the construction they were doing last year. Employees are always friendly and extremely helpful. The pool, which is my favorite spot and is also well-maintained. Thanks for everything and we’ll see you next September!

Excellent water front campsite. Excellent view.

This campground has little to no grass. White sharp bull rock covers the entire campground. No where to walk dogs to the patch of grass, either scalding pavement or the sharp bull rocks! We had to carry or drive our dogs to go potty! It’s a pretty park but no way to walk to beach. You have to drive to get there! Also the couple places to walk one of them were covered stickers! Never again!

The old Bait & Switch trick. I was emailed I would be in site #3 but when I checked in, I was assigned #159 and told by Nancy that they (she) do not email site #s unless you pay to lock it in which I didn’t, but I was definitely emailed by some anon. person that I was in site #3 which was not as expected.SpaceX’s LOUD Hovercraft came all hrs day/night for employees to the launch pad. Won’t g

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I'm sorry for the confusion. It looks like you stayed on site 3 while you were with us. I noticed a note in your reservation requesting an end site from your online reservation. That may be why you were shifted to 58. Please reach out if I can help in any way. [email protected]

We have driven 1,600 miles (one way) to visit the KOA on Sugar Loaf Key, in the Florida Keys, and wanted to see if there was something closer that we could enjoy, with a similar experience. This just didn't meet our expectations. The bathrooms (showers) were always flooded. The Gulf was cloudy, and the water too shallow for my style of fishing (Lobstering). I didn't find easy access to restaurant.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are very grateful that you gave us a try. We strive to edge closer and closer to the amazing-ness that is Sugarloaf Key KOA. Those blue-green waters of the Florida Keys are hard to top. Thanks for staying with us, and please come again in the future as we continue to improve.

The new sites are wonderful, love the space between the sites and their layout. Sorry no ramp for handicap down to sunset deck or a direct path to the pool from that direction.

Our site included a deck which we could view Laguna Madre, and the SpaceX facility from. The campground is clean and the hook ups are easy for set up. We will definitely stay here on a regular basis.

We came with family and friends for a last getaway before the school year goes into full swing. We loved being able to have sites together since we had both cabins and RV's. The staff were friendly and the site was exceptional!

We had a great time and will be returning. We would like to recommend a fish filleting table at the boat ramp.

Great place for family and friends to gather, always something to do and the folks are super friendly. Very clean.

Very nice park. Great amenities. The managers and staff were outstanding! Will for sure stay here again! Thanks for a great vacation.

It was a last minute stay, and very satisfied. If I could change anything, I would like to see more boat slots at location. I know its tight, but there was one spot that was vacant the entire weekend and was supposedly taken. I dont mind parking the boat in front of the trailer since I had the room, but it meant I had to use an over flow parking for the truck. just food for thought

Love the new area by the bay, but I did notice there was no security roaming around at nite like it used to. KOA should bring that back. That was one of the reasons why I liked to stay there. I felt secured! But now, not so much!
Sep 02, 2025
This go around was disappointing. We had technical difficulties and being harassed to pay an extension fee or another day was rheart breaking
Sep 02, 2025
Staff, especially Ms. Dottie were all so very sweet! I didn’t interact with a single employee that wasn’t awesome!
Sep 02, 2025
We stayed at site 101 and our RV filled up with ants
Sep 01, 2025
Clean park, nice staff. Had to leave early due to issues with our trailer. Called the office to let them know and that I didn't expect a refund and they gave me a refund for the 2 days we had left on the reservation.

We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff was pleasant, worked very hard to keep the ground clean, if you asked they went out of there way to help you.

Excellent campsite. Great amenities. Clean!

This is the second time we stayed at this KOA. The first time was very nice in 2018. So we came again, but this time it wasn't so nice. They put us right next to two summer rvers and one of them was playing music and talking until 2 am. Also, the sights are very close together with their sewer dump right next to our picnic table, yuk! The office people seemed nice, and fixed the 50 amp right away.

Great location to watch the Starship launch from. Very clean and large bathrooms and showers, great pool, very well maintained location, highly recommend.

As usual, very clean facility. The staff is great. The ladies at the check in office are extremely accommodating. Dotty is fabulous.

Very pretty campsite. We got the last waterfront slot 306. Nice breeze, nice view of sunset on their rocker for two. Nice chairs to sit on. Apparently a lot of people like to fish in that side. There is a sign that they can't pass so they are not at your campsite, but they are close by. Once a family with 4 kids were loud. I was trying to enjoy the breeze and read. We had an issue that because we were a bit inclined down towards the water, our septic tubes were not angled enough. When we hooked up to leave, we moved trailer to street about 5 feet so we can do the dump. Lots of washers & dryers, small cold exercise room, I used treadmill once. They have a nice outdoor area outside of community center with a pretty gas fireplace. Pool looks nice, we didn't get in. Good Internet. They have 4 showers, with toilets. My gripe there is that there is no shade in the afternoon to wait for one to be open. At 4:30 pm, it was hot. I wouldn't mind a stand up umbrella out there. And I don't like how the shower water comes out to the toilet area. There is no shower lip and the shower curtain is short. They need a longer inside clear plastic liner maybe. Short drive to Isla Blanca Park. Cost $12 to get in. There is a nice long beach. They have a Pavilion with hot dogs, snacks & drinks. Another time we tried free Beach Access #4 because it had a restroom in the parking lot. But not much parking in these beach accesses, you have to go early. It's a 7 1/2 hr drive for us, so don't know if we'll go back, but we liked it. If we do, we might try a pull thru.

The KOA was nice whereas you are close to the beach. However, the sites are very tight. If you have a rig that is longer than 40 feet (our rig is 46 feet), avoid sites 114 to 116 (there may be more sites but these are the ones that we noticed). While they offer pull-thru ability, again, they are very tight. We were in site 116 and there is a palm tree that is growing almost sideways instead of straight up. This will pose a problem for any good size rig while pulling in. Another person had to come over and pull on the tree in order for us to pull the RV past the tree. This palm tree really needs to be cut down. Another reason parking in these particular sites are challenging is due to the amount of cars that park in the street. There are a lot of owners who will park their vehicles with half on their site and the other half hanging over in the street. This only adds to the tight feel of the park. Next time we visit, we will try the more expensive sites to see if that will be a difference. We were in one of the pull-thru sites with a patio and upgraded furniture. The price was $105 a night but the weekend is a bit more expensive and we paid $115 for Friday (we stayed from Sunday-Friday). The park offers a ton of activities, if you want to participate with any of that kind of stuff. My husband did visit the fitness center and said it was nice for what it is.
