We loved the new waterside camp sites and really enjoyed the new Rec Room and especially our entertainment director. Only downside was waiting to get into 4 bathrooms on our side of the site. We had to walk in 2 inches of filthy bathroom water daily to get to toilet. Floors are sloped wrong to drain. This needs correcting right away. Restrooms were often completely out of toilet paper as well.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback, and for staying with us. There are a few challenges with the new construction that we are working out. The fix for the bathroom floors is in the works, and the larger toilet paper dispensers are on the way as well. Thanks for your patience with us as we improve.

The staff are AMAZING!! They were always smiling and looked professional. Every time we asked one of them a question, they went above and beyond to give us the information we needed. From dining choices to where are the best spots on the beach. They not only helped us relax at the KOA location but enjoy our entire stay.

We stayed the week of 7/6-7/12 in site 313. We enjoyed being next to the bay. Even got to watch the dolphins swim while we had our coffee in the mornings. During our stay we utilized the pool, playground, dog park, and laundry room. Areas were clean, never crowded. Staff were always friendly and prompt especially with firewood delivery and trash pickup. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

This is my 4th time visiting in July and it was absolutely wonderful. The new amenities are beautiful & the waterfront spots are gorgeous. I just might treat myself next year with a stay in a waterfront spot.

Stayed 5 days on the peninsula—was fantastic. Only complaint, no additional days were available for an extended stay.

It was great!

This was the 3rd time we stayed at KOA and enjoy it. We love the clean and safe environment and the relaxing time we have. We were introduced by a friend that took their RV and won’t stay anywhere else. Our Dog travels with us everywhere and we love the fact there is plenty of space to walk her.

Super nice staff with great amenities…even a clean, convenient pet wash to take care of the salt and sand on your pup!

Loved everything loved the new rec. center and all the activities. The only thing I disliked is the lack of bathrooms/showers. Last summer the way the park layout was there were more showers and bathrooms. I think there is a need for a few more in the park.

Everything was great, we enjoyed all the 4th of July activities BUT we did miss the foosball table and maybe an air hockey table for kids to play. The rec room needs more activities for kids. We loved the painting activities also

I booked a one night stay online. It was our first time using a campsite. I arrived after hours and my paperwork was waiting for me at the office. Facility was clean. KOA provided a valuable service. Thanks

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The location and amenties were excellent. The staff was very helpful. I was disappointed by the number of vehicles on the premises during the July 4th week. Many of the spots had 3+ vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. It made it feel like the campground was more of a parking lot. Parking restrictions need to be enforced.

Great cabins. Offer plenty of fun activities for kids. Love the kayaks, water trike, and bike rentals. Like the upgrades that have been made to the location.

Great place but showers near pool need better drainage. Using shower shouldn't cause the bathroom area to become wet.

It was fantastic! And hassle free.

Loved it! This park definitely changed my opinion of KOA camps! Very well organized! Clean facility with immediate attention to all guest needs. I will definitely stay here in the future as well as look at other KOA camps during future travel in the states. Impressive!!!

Great experience, had plenty of room and loved the activities.

We had a great time!! Staff is awesome. We will definitely be back.

Everything was great, the staff was awesome. The only thing is we had a ton of ants in our spot and the electrical box was way in the front so my camper had to stay closer to the street and that left my wife's car with no room to park.

Our only complaint is that on lot 76 (where we were) there is an open space at the back of the patio. It looks like maybe something was there in the past and was removed. There are a few large rocks in it and it was a fall hazard when we used the outdoor kitchen. Fill it with concrete or bricks like the rest of the patio and it will be perfect. A mop in the rec. area for water spills.

Lots of rain but still had a great time, very clean and comfortable

The campgrounds were very nice and the people were very helpful
Jul 02, 2025
Our stay was great. We loved our stay in the new section so much that we have already made reservations for next year. Very pretty, clean, and quiet. The staff works very hard to keep the park maintained.
Jul 02, 2025
All the staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful at all times.y suggestion would be the rest room/shower at the new rec hall should have a drain put in the shower. The floor stays wet after someone showers causing a problem for those who just want to use the toilet. Though the patio sites are awesome, the design isn't practical or safe. If you put other stuff on it it isn't safe to walk.

Great service!!

Great and friendly staff.

Staff is very friendly and helpful! Only negative is the bathrooms/showers were never really clean while we were there. I know there are a lot of guests - and they don't clean up after themselves, but bathrooms/showers need to be checked more often. The rest of the grounds were generally clean and tidy.

Very clean, maintained and courteous to customers. The section right by the bay is beautiful

Great spot and nice welcoming crew but sure we're way too small.

We enjoyed our site's picnic table, the pool, and the new fire pit area. The entire property was very clean and safe

The cabin was not as clean as it usually is…floor was dirty…dishes were not washed properly…

Expensive, but aren’t they all these days. We rented a cabin and loved the charm. It was also obviously clean and comfortable, so you can’t ask for much more. But we got more. The bed was soft and comfortable, and the shower had a removable wand, making it easier to clean. The KOA had lots so smashed together, all the cabins and RV spaces alike. And the tents were in a most inconvenient locati

South Padre Island KOA staff went above and beyond to help me out during my stay. I really do appreciate the service that was provided.

Spot was excellent, water front, but the rate you pay ($150/night) is not fair when you have to share your space with “fishers” in the back of you site. There is no privacy when people coming the whole day to fish there or just see the water. Fishers should pay part of the rate if they will share the space you pay.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We apologize for this. New signs directing fishers and wanderers who have not rented those sites to please respect the privacy of the guest and gather in other areas have been ordered and will be up soon.

Even though we had predicted storms, we had a great stay. The showers were intermittent and so we got to enjoy the pool, the s'mores and the ice cream sundaes. The KOA had great amenities and we were able to walk over to Isla and enjoy the beach. The only thing that was not so great was the loud and too fast golf carts within the KOA grounds.

Clean park, quick assistance with minor help from office/maintenance. Really enjoyed our stay and would stay her again.

Very pretty campsite. We got the last waterfront slot 306. Nice breeze, nice view of sunset on their rocker for two. Nice chairs to sit on. Apparently a lot of people like to fish in that side. There is a sign that they can't pass so they are not at your campsite, but they are close by. Once a family with 4 kids were loud. I was trying to enjoy the breeze and read. We had an issue that because we were a bit inclined down towards the water, our septic tubes were not angled enough. When we hooked up to leave, we moved trailer to street about 5 feet so we can do the dump. Lots of washers & dryers, small cold exercise room, I used treadmill once. They have a nice outdoor area outside of community center with a pretty gas fireplace. Pool looks nice, we didn't get in. Good Internet. They have 4 showers, with toilets. My gripe there is that there is no shade in the afternoon to wait for one to be open. At 4:30 pm, it was hot. I wouldn't mind a stand up umbrella out there. And I don't like how the shower water comes out to the toilet area. There is no shower lip and the shower curtain is short. They need a longer inside clear plastic liner maybe. Short drive to Isla Blanca Park. Cost $12 to get in. There is a nice long beach. They have a Pavilion with hot dogs, snacks & drinks. Another time we tried free Beach Access #4 because it had a restroom in the parking lot. But not much parking in these beach accesses, you have to go early. It's a 7 1/2 hr drive for us, so don't know if we'll go back, but we liked it. If we do, we might try a pull thru.

The KOA was nice whereas you are close to the beach. However, the sites are very tight. If you have a rig that is longer than 40 feet (our rig is 46 feet), avoid sites 114 to 116 (there may be more sites but these are the ones that we noticed). While they offer pull-thru ability, again, they are very tight. We were in site 116 and there is a palm tree that is growing almost sideways instead of straight up. This will pose a problem for any good size rig while pulling in. Another person had to come over and pull on the tree in order for us to pull the RV past the tree. This palm tree really needs to be cut down. Another reason parking in these particular sites are challenging is due to the amount of cars that park in the street. There are a lot of owners who will park their vehicles with half on their site and the other half hanging over in the street. This only adds to the tight feel of the park. Next time we visit, we will try the more expensive sites to see if that will be a difference. We were in one of the pull-thru sites with a patio and upgraded furniture. The price was $105 a night but the weekend is a bit more expensive and we paid $115 for Friday (we stayed from Sunday-Friday). The park offers a ton of activities, if you want to participate with any of that kind of stuff. My husband did visit the fitness center and said it was nice for what it is.
