A busy but lovely KOA holiday spot! Went around Christmas time. Temperature was a lovely 75° the 4 days we were there. The sites are a good size though id definitely go back to get an ocean facing spot- the sunsets are beautiful to watch from there. The staff are all super friendly, even having to work on Christmas. They had lots of events on the weekend with music, smores and sundaes.

Was a wonderful trip and stay. Wonderful campsite, great space and patio set. Loved hammocks, little library, laundry, showers, bingo. Only issue was the pool was a bit too cold. But other than that we loved our stay.

Beautifully maintained, great location and many amenities.

We have twin 7 year olds and I think this KOA is the safest, most charming, and one of the cleanest places we've ever stayed...anywhere.

Very small sites. They let people park wherever they want. Workers drive around and don’t even care if someone is being rude. Just an all around place I’ll never go back to again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for sharing your feedback. This is not typical of the experience we aim to provide, and we’ve reached out to learn more about your stay. Please note this was our smallest, most economical site type; we recommend upgrading to a larger site for more space in the future.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Sites are clean, Level and hookups are all in good shape. Location is beautiful with easy access to the water and restaurants.

Loved the new additions to the park. We did not like that we paid for water front pull through site and wasn’t able to fish from bank. The sign strictly said for sites 306-316 only. No where on the website does it say that. We were highly disappointed that our children could not fish with their dad from the banks. This needs to be on the website to see when people are booking waterfront site

We stayed 2 weeks on one of the waterfront sites. The site was perfect. The resort is very well kept. Within walking distance to the county park beach, which is beautiful.

I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the park and all it had to offer. All of the staff were genuinely pleased to see us and showed their appreciation. I think we had the best location in the park, #306. It was so wonderful to sit out there drinking coffee and watching the sun rise, the dolphins splash and play, and the seabirds fishing. Amazing sunsets! Great place for my two fur babies.

This was our first experience with this KOA. It was perfect. Though, with a backdrop of the gulf, how can you go wrong?
Dec 28, 2025
The staff are very efficient and the facilities are clean. We moved sites and they worked with us so well.

It was amazing. Such a nice place. We'll come back next year.
Dec 27, 2025
Complained about 2 barking dogs that we constantly barking, so loud I heard it in my coach over the TV for 4 hours, till they returned. People not cleaning up after pets. We had to leave and go early to our next stop in Rockport. KOA needs to enforce the rules they put out. We left 3 days early. Why should we have to leave, boot the other people out that disrespect others. Ralph

KOA location was amazing. Beach was clean and the water temperature wasn’t bad for December. Kids loved swimming at the beach. The large heated pool was great and the hot tub had proper hot temps. We had a waterfront site which made a big difference. The free shuttle was great but some restaurants and shops were also within walking distance. We loved the island and would return.

We had a great time, the park staff were excellent. Everything was clean, well maintained and activities were fun. Pretty expensive though, as a result we could only stay 1 month. Thank you for a great time!!

Site we stayed was small but cozy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will come back again in the future.

most of the staff were helpful and friendly.
Dec 19, 2025
wonderful location allows walking access to the whole county beach park with dogs on leashes. additionally, the property has sites that are astoundingly scenic, mixed with the 'more affordable' usual rv park rows. staff at check in were best crew types.

Everything was wonderful. The grounds were clean. The employees were interacted with were some of the best we have dealt with in the KOA family. Jadi and her crafts/activities were amazing. Jess and Maddy were always friendly and helpful. The Thanksgiving meal was wonderful for us snd the 2 other families we had join us. We enjoyed our stay so much, we have already booked for next year!

We have stayed at KOA South Padre numerous times but this last one was our favorite. The new remodel is simply awesome! Staff friendly as always and the grounds are impeccable. Great job on the beautiful club house and social areas!

The campground, facilities, and staff were outstanding. The location is great, easy access from Port Isabel and very easy access to the main strip of SPI. We especially liked the updates for the events they had over the weekend. The ice cream social was fun.

Very nice park with lots of amenities. The employees are always so kind and friendly. Home away from home.
Dec 13, 2025
Loved the new RV area. The only issue was the confusion to refill propane in the motorhome talking to multiple employees and getting different answers. Left without refilling.
Dec 13, 2025
Beautiful RV park, very well appointed, clean and well maintained. Our pad was level. Unfortunately, the water pressure was insufficient at 25-30 psi. The local city water pressure is low… when I called to report the issue, was told they were adding water storage and higher pressure pumps onsite to resolve.

This is the best, most well kept koa ever! The new club house and deck area are amazing! The team there is amazing! Every detail is beautiful!

The park was super clean and the gals up front were so helpful and very pleasant. There are 2 things that stuck out and that was the Rv folks who washed campers and vehicles with the power washers running all the time, I think set times and days would be awesome. Garbage pickup should set as well because of the birds tearing the bags open and shredding stuff all over. Otherwise it was a wonderful

Awesome KOA! Facilities were newer, well kept and clean. We stayed in the pull through on the little peninsula that has been redeveloped. SUPER nice and great spot. We watched the pelicans forage, dolphins, and various other wildlife! Definitely would recommend this KOA!

We stayed on the island in Nov. 2024 and loved it. We felt the KOA would be great instead of the hotel. We are from WI which is why the cabin was such a perfect option for our return trip in 2025. The cabin was the perfect amount of space for us with great privacy.

Enjoyed our stay at ll32...The cabin was quite confortable. This is not a complaint but just something that needs repair . It was th door to th bunk bed..It was really windy th day we left. In taking things to th truck i opened th door to go out , the bunk rm. slammed and locked. Phone number we were given no help does not wk till u open. It needs replaced, dangerous if baby trapped..

SPI has made outstanding upgrades in amenities in the last couple of years. They were well thought out, well designed, and well built. Proximity to Star Base is always a plus for us. They provided Thanksgiving dinner, which was a happy surprise! Above all, the staff was, to a person, happy, always willing to help, and friendly. I don’t know how they maintain their great attitudes consistently

Very pretty campsite. We got the last waterfront slot 306. Nice breeze, nice view of sunset on their rocker for two. Nice chairs to sit on. Apparently a lot of people like to fish in that side. There is a sign that they can't pass so they are not at your campsite, but they are close by. Once a family with 4 kids were loud. I was trying to enjoy the breeze and read. We had an issue that because we were a bit inclined down towards the water, our septic tubes were not angled enough. When we hooked up to leave, we moved trailer to street about 5 feet so we can do the dump. Lots of washers & dryers, small cold exercise room, I used treadmill once. They have a nice outdoor area outside of community center with a pretty gas fireplace. Pool looks nice, we didn't get in. Good Internet. They have 4 showers, with toilets. My gripe there is that there is no shade in the afternoon to wait for one to be open. At 4:30 pm, it was hot. I wouldn't mind a stand up umbrella out there. And I don't like how the shower water comes out to the toilet area. There is no shower lip and the shower curtain is short. They need a longer inside clear plastic liner maybe. Short drive to Isla Blanca Park. Cost $12 to get in. There is a nice long beach. They have a Pavilion with hot dogs, snacks & drinks. Another time we tried free Beach Access #4 because it had a restroom in the parking lot. But not much parking in these beach accesses, you have to go early. It's a 7 1/2 hr drive for us, so don't know if we'll go back, but we liked it. If we do, we might try a pull thru.

The KOA was nice whereas you are close to the beach. However, the sites are very tight. If you have a rig that is longer than 40 feet (our rig is 46 feet), avoid sites 114 to 116 (there may be more sites but these are the ones that we noticed). While they offer pull-thru ability, again, they are very tight. We were in site 116 and there is a palm tree that is growing almost sideways instead of straight up. This will pose a problem for any good size rig while pulling in. Another person had to come over and pull on the tree in order for us to pull the RV past the tree. This palm tree really needs to be cut down. Another reason parking in these particular sites are challenging is due to the amount of cars that park in the street. There are a lot of owners who will park their vehicles with half on their site and the other half hanging over in the street. This only adds to the tight feel of the park. Next time we visit, we will try the more expensive sites to see if that will be a difference. We were in one of the pull-thru sites with a patio and upgraded furniture. The price was $105 a night but the weekend is a bit more expensive and we paid $115 for Friday (we stayed from Sunday-Friday). The park offers a ton of activities, if you want to participate with any of that kind of stuff. My husband did visit the fitness center and said it was nice for what it is.
