We had a wonderful time! First time being here and we live two hours away. We will be back for sure. So many fun things to do. FYI… Site 561 has very dangerous stumps sticking up that we all tripped over many times.

Overall this is our second time here. I love the environment. I wish there was a more stable wifi but overall its my top blackhills campground.

Very clean and well maintained campgrounds, pools, recreation areas etc. Lots of activities for children and adults. Two big thumbs up for allowing young foreigners to come from all over the world to work there and get the experience working and interacting with campers.

Very well run! Lots of great amenities and activities for all ages. Shops, restrooms/facilities all very well maintained. Most staff were very friendly. The pancake tent had workers who saw us struggling with the water jug and didn’t fill it up until we asked. That staff seemed the most disengaged of all staff who were great.

Wow! I wish I had known has great it would be. Nice people, spectacular amenities, plenty to do on the property. My favorite was watching the horse run back and forth every morning and night.

We love the site. However, for us, we used very few of the amenities. We would have preferred a more remote site.

Great location to lots of destinations. Friendly, helpful staff. Morning/evening horse parade to/from the front stable is fun to see. Clean restrooms and facilities.

This was an excellent stay! We had a nice spot and excellent neighbors. The staff did a wonderful job!

Great resort but the actual campsites are small

Nice place, staff was great. Cost of doing laundry could be more reasonable, but when you have a captive market and it’s inconvenient to go elsewhere, I guess you can charge what you want.

Very well laid out and unbelievable amenities for everyone in the family. Two large pools, pickleball court, lodge in case you don’t camp, and lots of different sizes of cabins, all sizes of RV spots with full hookups and even tent camping.Huge riding stables and horse drawn covered wagons to the chuck wagon dinner.

It was wonderful! Wish we stayed longer. Campground was clean and beautiful. Location was great and the staff were friendly and very welcoming and knowledgeable about things to do. We would stay there again in a minute!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere at night and plenty of amenities for our daughter during the day. We have nothing bad to say!

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Well stocked store. Nice campgrounds in the woods. Various activities! Clean showers. The only thing I didn’t like was the WiFi was erratic. Most of the time I had no internet service.

Definitely needs better internet service.

Our family and friends had a blast camping and enjoying all the amenities at the resort! This trip will be one we will always remember!

The location was our first draw but when we got there, we were thrilled with all the activities. This place is great for young kids. The shops and restaurants onsite were unexpected and very convenient. Great stay!

We had a great week there. Really good special rate but it was quickly taken aaay by the high rate for a one night extension for weather considerations in our travel.

Everything was great except the condition and appearance of the picnic table we had at spot 128. I would be embarrassed to have my customers see that table.

Friendly staff, great attractions and so much to do!

This is by far the best KOA out there! Such a beautiful area with so many attractions near by! We will be back some day!

From check-in to check-out the staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. We have stayed in other KOA camps and this one tops them all! Wonderful and plentiful amenities and friendly staff!

We spent 3 nights. Easy to get there with RV. Centrally located. Very informative and helpful staff. Food could definitely have been better. Service in restaurant was good. Slow at the pizza place. Horserides and staff were excellent. Will definitely recommend.

Mount Rushmore KOA exceeded every expectation! The staff was incredibly kind and supportive during a challenging time for our family. We loved the spotless laundry, fun kids' activities, fishing hole, stables, amazing restaurant, and pet-friendly accommodations for our in-laws. Our kids had such a blast they're now asking for banana bikes! We can't wait to return.

When I was checking in, the person checking me in, didn’t really know where the campsite was, but found it on the map. The fellow who took me to the site, didn’t know where it was either and when we found it, he didn’t understand why I was put there. It was too small to even use, flooded muddy. Fire pit was unusable because too close to my trailer and pick up. Pretty much a disaster. You shou

The bathrooms and showers didn't get cleaned often enough. Other than that everything was great.

Excellent location and amenities. Staff maintains after storms but you need to make sure you are ok with certain areas being muddy and not as level.

The good. There is a lot to do at your resort especially for kids. I would recommend for families. Restaurants, tap room, convenient. The bad. When I made the reservation, It asked length of RV which is 40 feet. I was put in a 40 foot spot, no room to park tow vehicle. Several sites were very uneven, making it difficult to level the unit. Had to help neighbors because of this. Lost water pressure.

It was an excellent day despite the training of the employees when we asked if they do garbage service, they said they had no idea when we asked if there were fish in the pond they had no idea. Otherwise it was a great day and yes, I did catch a fish out of the pond.

Overall, decent stay. A lot of fun things to do- horses were our favorite. Unfortunately, the pool near the lodge was always full and we could never get on the pickleball court, like we wanted. We stayed in one of the rooms for 3 nights and not once was our room cleaned up- I did not know until the last day that they don't come in the rooms without a request- this needs to be communicated at check-in (a family of four- there were towels piling up on the floor and would've been nice to have our trash taken out, plus we had to go to the desk to ask for toiletries and fresh towels). The lodge has very limited breakfast items (just cereals, muffins, yogurt, etc); would've been nice to have a free hot meal. TV didn't work for 3-4 days (offered very low compensation for this). While the front desk was overall helpful, there were times they could get snarky/short. Would've loved a fitness center/gym offered. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure in shower was good. Room on arrival was clean. Would come again.

We planned our vacation to the Mount Rushmore KOA Resort based on a recommendation from a friend. Since we aren't campers, we opted for a camping cabin, thinking it would be a comfortable alternative to traditional camping. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The website notes that the cabins do not have air conditioning, but it also suggests that it's not needed because temperatures cool off significantly at night. While that may be true under normal circumstances, it wasn't our experience. We visited during a stretch of upper-90-degree temperatures, and our cabin received direct sunlight for most of the day. Because of the cabin's location and window configuration, there was very little airflow. We ran three fans 24 hours a day and kept the front door open whenever we were at the site, yet the cabin didn't reach a reasonably comfortable temperature until after 1:00 a.m. each night. In addition to the heat, the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses were so firm that we may as well have been sleeping on the ground in a tent. The bottom bunk was especially difficult to use. There was very little clearance, making it hard to crawl in, roll over, or get out. I hit my head multiple times throughout the night. While the camping cabin was not a good fit for us, the resort itself was nice. The property is very large, but they also pack a lot of campsites into the available space. Our cabin site included a picnic table and fire ring, but there wasn't much additional room. We're used to having space to spread out, set up a grill, toss a ball around, and relax, and that wasn't really possible at our site. The bathrooms appeared to be recently renovated. The shower stalls were somewhat small and the water pressure could have been better, but everything was very clean and well maintained. The pools were decent and provided a welcome way to cool off, when they weren't temporarily closed for hygiene-related issues. I do wish there had been more shade around the pool area, such as umbrellas or covered seating. Because one of the pools was closed multiple times during our stay, everyone crowded into the remaining pool. It became too crowded for us to want to get in, and there wasn't enough shaded seating for parents who simply wanted to watch their kids swim. Ultimately, after two nights of miserable sleeping conditions, we decided to cut our stay short and move to a hotel. The staff were very understanding and apologetic about our experience. They refunded the unused nights without hesitation, and I was genuinely grateful for that level of customer service. Overall, if you're an avid camper who doesn't mind dealing with the elements, or if you're traveling in an RV, this is likely a great campground. As for us, we learned an important lesson the hard way: we're just not campers.
