The guide couldnt find our tent site that we were assigned and it was a horrible site that wasnt flat on the side of a hill, they had plenty of open sites that were a lot better. If you had a problem here they just dont have the caring staff to resolve it.

Only problem I have is I got bedbug bites from the cabin we stayed in.

our family was looking forwarded in staying again at this resort since it was 7years ago since we did and we were super disappointed in the cabin being that it was after 10pm we checked in we couldn’t speak with anyone but the cabin smelled like cigarettes, the netting was ripped being that it was hot we had to keep the windows open but all the mosquitos got in through the broken net.

Its beautiful. We were there during a heat wave, and we had no ac in our cabin, which made the stay very uncomfortable. It would be great if the cabins all had ac. We left early because of that. Otherwise, its a family n paradise. The property is beautifully maintained ,and the amenities are true resort . Wifi is iffy didnt always work, not good if you need to check work emails, etc.

lots of fun

We rented a cabin. Everything was clean and nice, BUT you might put fans/air conditioners in those. It was a super hot weekend. That structure holds heat. Possibly a chair as well - swing is nice, but they are kinda small for two people. Thanks

Beautiful and enjoyable

The koa and staff were great, the other people staying kinda sucked. I enjoyed the bathrooms and showers. They were always clean. I was disappointed the cabin didn’t have a fridge, as any other koa I’ve stayed in has. Overall it was nice, but I would probably try another nearby koa in hopes it has less awful people staying there.

We had one of the better views from out cabin which made our stay vary nice. Many cabins have no view except another cabin. One complaint is that the pool area on the front side offers no showers. I thought that was some kind of health thing to have a shower near the pool, the other KOAs I have stayed at have showers near the pools. The other amenities were free mini-golf, and live music.

This resort was super cute and is great if you are traveling with children. There is so much to do there and they have plenty of dining options for the whole family.

Great place!!! Nice cabins, great location, lots of amenities, a great place for families.
Jul 08, 2026
The KOA was super nice, clean and all staff members were very helpful and kind. Angela was wonderful helping us plan this stay for a very large group the lodge and campground. Thank you

It was great! Everyone was very kind and helpful, restrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. Cabin was clean and well maintained and property was clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed horses, Ice Cream Shop and Cafe.

Loved everything- really. Great location close to Mount Rushmore and lots of things to do at the site. Nice Staff. Clean Bathroom and showers.

Our Kozy Kabin (k51) seemed forgotten, overlooked, out of service or just lacking TLC. Other kabins had lovely flowers hanging on the patio, glass globes over their porch light bulbs, and newer windows. Ours was barely broom swept, had dust on the beams, & graffiti on the bunk and ceiling. Maybe it shouldn’t have been rented out. If it weren’t for all the great amenities, I would have been ups
Jul 07, 2026
Amenities were great! The cabin was very hot at night and it would have been great to have a fan.
Jul 07, 2026
This koa is overpriced... way overpriced. Almost double the normal rates. + resort fees, dog fees, pancake fees. This koa nickel/dime you. No refrigerator in cabin, latch broken on door, cabin was not level, pole on front porch broke at the base

The glamping cabin was great. Pleasant view of the pond, and near the restrooms. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Jul 06, 2026
I always love coming here. It has been over 30 years since I last visited and it still is the best place by far
Jul 06, 2026
The people that work there are the nicest and are friendly. The place is clean and everything works. The personal go out of their way to make sure that we are happy. I have already told my friends about the facility. Great job guys keep it up !!!

We loved all the activities that there was to do as a family. I noticed was alot of the younger workers liked to be messing around rather than watching the kids. this was viewed by the workers working the jumping pad, when the rock wall was up, the workers were climbing it not watching kids (On July 4th) and when the bounce castle was 30 min late going up because they were standing around talkin

The registration people at the office were knowledgeable and and accommodated us as best as possible with a last minute reservation. We spent the first night at a tent site absolutely beautiful view. Second night in a cabin it was perfect the restrooms and showers nearby. All the amenities you could ask for. Close to all the places we wanted to go. Can't wait to go back again.
Jul 05, 2026
We absolutely coming here year after year. There is so much for the kids to do! It’s clean, feels safe, and plenty for everyone of all ages. The location is amazing as well for everything we want to do and see in the Black Hills. Bonus- all the trails right off the campgrounds!
Jul 05, 2026
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Had a cabin right by the restroom, which was perfect. Everybody was courteous. Staff was out of this world fantastic. if I could make a recommendation, it would be nice if you had a shelf in the same stall where the shower is to put stuff it could be put up high. Also in your. dry cabin if you replace the lightbulb with a small fan light for air circulation, great place

This is a very busy, family-oriented campground - one that is not conducive to relaxation. Lots of amenities for kids. Overpriced during peak season.

We were in a camping cabin. This is the 3rd time we have been here. We a little disappointed. The cabin was a two room. There was no chair in either room. No fan/air conditioning. The mattresses were very flat and hard. We have been to many KOAs in the past and this had the least amount of extras in the room. Especially not even having a chair in the room.

The cabin camping was great. Fair price, clean, decent location. The pool and waterslide was excellent. The showers got a beautiful tiled facelift. The only drawback to our stay was the huge increase in the 'Choose your Site'. We stay here 3 times per summer and it is very handy to choose sites that we love. Now we can't (won't) afford the $100 fee. A first-come, first-choice system would be nice.

Great, family-friendly campground in a fantastic location. We loved being within a 10 minute drive of Mount Rushmore, with Custer State Park and many small towns nearby! The Stables at Palmer Gulch were a HUGE bonus so we could pet the horses every day. The facilities were cleaned regularly throughout the day and there are a variety of daily and scheduled activities, plus the Mount Rushmore rodeo!

Top notch KOA. Close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse.
Jun 27, 2026
Everything was fantastic- cannot wait to come back - cabin was great - just the mattresses were quite poor - please fix those
Jun 27, 2026
Amazing! Beautiful, clean and inclusive. Something for my kiddos (14, 12 and 6) to do all the time. The costs for on site souvenirs, coffee and food, everyday items wasn't crazy. We decided day one we were going to stay an extra day and that was accommodated too. All the staff is friendly and never seemed irritated with their job. We will be back! Thank you for an unforgettable vacation
Jun 27, 2026
Fantanstic stay - Cannot wait to come back. Only feedback is the mattresses in the cabin are quite poor. Could use a couple more hooks to hang towels - otherwise, perfect and such good memories.

This KOA has continued to grow and offer so much for anyone staying at the resort! The only complaint we have about our stay is that the WiFi did not work well at all. We could hardly load an email with the internet.
Jun 25, 2026
We loved our stay! So much to do right on site. The playground, heated pool and mini golf were our favorites. The door in K50 doesn’t open all the way which can make taking things in and out a little tricky but no major issues!
Jun 25, 2026
We stayed in a deluxe cabin and it was amazing bed was comfortable kids had a blast we rented a golf cart and that was awesome the views there and how everything was there if your forgot something they had it and they were all so nice and helpful with whatever was needed we will definitely be coming back

This was our first stay at a KOA and we were thoroughly impressed by the grounds, facilities and activities!

We stayed at Mount Rushmore July 1st to the 19th of July. We had such an amazing time. We have been coming to the Black Hills for about 14 years, and this is the first time we stayed at Mount Rushmore KOA only because they book up fast. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. A few days before we got there, I called and spoke to a gentlemen name Chris (which was a manager) we asked to stay in a certain site, and he accommodated us. we will be staying again there next year. Thank you, Mount Rushmore KOA, for such a great experience. Thank you! Farrows

This was our first stay at a KOA. I have never met nicer people. Lenny who greeted us from the start, was exactly what we needed after a long trip. He had us smiling and laughing soon after we arrived. He showed us to our sight and was super helpful in explaining everything to us. The campgrounds have so many activities for the kids. The all you can eat pancakes for $3.50 is a must to experience. And sign up for the Cowboy Dinner. The food is amazing and the music was first rate!! Wonderful experience for the whole family. We can't wait to come back!!

Individual sites are a bit small, but if it's a Basecamp for area attractions it hardly matters. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Ice and wood were a bit pricey. Great amenities. Wonderful for families.
