We absolutely loved our Labor Day weekend stay at Palmer Gulch! From the easy registration process to our campsite and all of the amazing amenities, everything was wonderful. Being able to rent a car right on-site was such a huge bonus and made getting around so convenient. We enjoyed playing basketball, swimming, going down the water slides, and of course checking out the gift shop.

Everything was top notch with 2 exceptions: 1) The showers in Comfort Station #3 were (probably) clean, but they didn't have a stool outside and needed updating, as they looked black and dingy. Too bad, as we had planned to use them, but didn't. 2) The all you can eat pancakes and bacon were good. The scrambled eggs were very poor. Compressed and flavorless. We actually couldn't finish them.

Second time, well run facility and enjoyed our stay. The after traveling it is nice having someone waiting to welcome us and take us to the site. Shout out to Bob who answered all my questions and was wonderful to visit with during our stay. Thanks again! The only thing we missed was the shuttle to Rushmore which allows us to watch the night show without having to drive back in the dark.

Stayed for 6 days and wouldn't stay anywhere else. the Place is clean and the staff is great! This was our 2nd year to stay with Mount Rushmore, and we will be back again!

No shade for camper. Children riding motorized bikes were dangerous, they didn't look to check traffic, most without adult supervision. This campground is focused on young families with children not retired people who just want to relax.

The front desk was very accommodating with our site. We had been to the Kia numerous times and with younger kids it’s nice to be close to the pool but our kid is getting older and we wanted to be in the trees. We were placed in 407, that is a beautiful row and area. We got to use our hammocks and had more space. Thankful for the weekend with our 16 year old!

We had a very enjoyable stay. The campsite and facilities were outstanding. We used the restaurant and the younger family went horseback riding. The campground is centrally located to many other attractions, and we used many of them. This is our second stay at your beautiful campgrounds and may not be the last. The only problem is the Internet service; it could be much better.

Amazing campsite! The close proximity was perfect! The stables was an added bonus!! We loved your pools & playgrounds and fun things for our child. Clean showers and laundry facilities was a huge bonus!

By far the best KOA we’ve seen. Well managed, well kept and thoroughly modern. Lots to do locally and on site. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to camp near Mt. Rushmore.

This KOA is truly one of the finest I have stayed at. Lots of things to do on the grounds, centrally located by Mount Rushmore, Custer, Keystone, Wind Cave, among other sights. I would recommend this Rv campground to anyone.

It was the best. If I could have one request, please improve your dog park. Everything else offered was WOW!!! we loved all the services offered. The campground was well cared for and the people who worked there very nice and helpful. The prices are a little steep but you get what you pay for they say.

Very disappointed with the food options. The fried chicken was cold in the middle, and other sandwiches were either over cooked or was not fresh. The camp was clean and close to everything, so if you want to eat out, eat in town.

Absolutely amazing experience at your KOA. From the initial man who greeted us as we pulled in to the woman who checked us in. The person we spoke to on the phone that helped move us to a different site. Each and every staff member we came in contact with was wonderful. The amenities were more than we could have imagined. Our experience was so great we didn’t want to leave. We will stay again.

This resort is fantastic. Our stay here was perfect. The staff was outstanding, location couldn’t be more convenient, facilities were top notch. We will definitely be returning. The Palmer Gulch KOA can serve as a basecamp or as its own destination. Especially for kids.

Highly recommended! The grounds, bathroom and laundry were spotless. Our site was perfectly level and came with lush grass and a picnic table & fire pit. LOTS of activities - pools, UTV rentals, horseback riding. Beautiful enourmous resort.

The bathrooms are poor and in need of renovation and better cleaning. No shower benches, broken tiles, mold, one toilet had no seat. Expect better when paying KOA prices.

We were very pleased with our campsite, the location near restrooms and showers and the pool. My husband left his e-book in the restroom when we left and it was mailed back to us. Thank you so much for that and the people that found it we appreciate you. We also want to say kiddos to the car rental people. We had a lovely day and he could not have been nicer giving us a map telling us where to go.

Excellent stay with a lot of things to do at the camp and nearby. Very professional staff. We’ll bring back our grand kids in the future for sure. My only tip is food on site was very basic. Load nachos in The Peak were not loaded and very basic as was food as other locations. We preferred meals in town but would certainly stay here again

Lovely place, but the speed bumps should be reduced by 80%; we had more crashing in the rv crossing those bumps at dead slow than we had on 2 trips on the Alcan! Also, placing some Exit signs around the roads would have helped us more easily find our way out. The pancakes were great!

Fantastic amenities and facilities. We really enjoyed our site in the back (quiet) section. For the size of the park and quality of all the other amenities the dog park was disappointing. We ate at the taphouse and Grapes & Grinds and enjoyed both, as well as the pancake breakfast.

Amazing property! We were there for two weeks. Really enjoyed the Chuck wagon dinner and our horseback ride with Claire. Only issue was since we had no cell service we relied on internet and the wifi kept dropping.

Perfect location if you’re planning to visit Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, to name a few. This KOA has so much to offer including swimming pool, water slide, mini golf, trail rides, on site restaurants, ice cream, coffee shops, camp store, and much more - truly a campground resort. The grounds and multiple bath houses were clean. Great stay!

Next time I’ll request sites in the back, more space not as cramped as the front of the park. Park is very nice with lots of things to do.

The campground and staff were great. It was clean and well maintained. The reason for the 8 and 4 star is due to the peak. I would be embarrased to operate that bad of food at a camp that is so good in everything else. My wife and I both left our dinner without eating it and went to get ice cream.

While a very nice camp location. We would definitely pick another site. Despite a deluxe site, the staff traffic to the facility building was very bothersome late into the night and early in the morning. The constant dust ups and road noise took away from the beautiful surroundings. Bathrooms and showers need attention.

This jam packed KOA has it all. 2 pools. Waterslide. Playgrounds. Restaurants on the property. Horseback riding. Rodeo. UTV rentals. Lots of activities for the kids. Bounce pillow. It's right down the road from Mount Rushmore. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Cell phone reception is pretty poor, but you can't blame KOA. WiFi is pretty good if you are near their hotspots. There was always KOA employees ripping around, which they should slow down a little bit. We did experience the bees as mentioned by other reviewers. Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed our stay.

Great first experience with KOA! The reservation process was easy, and changing our dates was very convenient. Communication with Dee Dee before arrival was excellent, and check-in was quick and easy. The campground was clean, especially the bathrooms, and all the guests were very respectful. The sites are a little close together, so I would probably avoid the busy summer season. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely stay here again!
