The only complaint I have is super low water pressure at the camp sites at certain times ( I'm sure when a lot of people are showering in their campers). Other than that super friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful grounds ( love all the flowers) and activities for younger kids. Perhaps adding some activities for older kids ( high school) such as a zip line, etc. Overall great stay!

My son's favorite place to camp.

The hot tub was filthy. On the last day they were open for the season, they drained the hot tub and refilled it, so it couldn’t be used. Big disappointment. Eggs at breakfast were awful. Also, workers leaning over the credit card machine to watch what you tip is poor practice .

Beautiful resort with an amazing view! It had everything we needed to keep our family entertained/ was quiet enough to get some relaxing family time in! Every staff member we came in contact with was very nice and the facilities were very well maintained!

I would have rated this higher but when I went to use the hot tubs at the lower pool, they were both green and nasty looking. One was closed but the other should have been too, needed cleaned. Have a 38ft rig w toad, they gave me a site hardly big enough + a tree interfered w my slide. They moved me to the next. They should have given me one of the better bigger sites. Plenty of them were open.

Very disappointed in our stay. I had made my reservations 10 months in advance and specifically asked to not be next to a playground. We were placed directly next to the children’s activity area. It was chaos. Unsupervised children and even KOA employees ignoring the fact these children were driving golfcarts and motor scooters at excess speed. Our site was too small to accommodate our tow vehic

We were only there for one night but found the resort beautiful. It has everything one could possibly need at a campground. This campground has been taken care of very well and a lot of thought has gone into providing a wonderful stay for all. the only reason I gave it a 4, is that it was sooooo busy....full of active ATV's which made it a bit noisy so if you are looking for quiet, this is not it.

Short stay with friends and family. Very accommodating! Great end of year sales. Great place for families.

Overall it’s a great place to stay. The camping spots are a bit crowded, but still decent. We weren’t at camp very much so it was fine. Nobody bothers anything, and this we loved! I wish the office was easier to reach with immediate access to security. We had some hellraisers in camp and I had to drive to the office because there isn’t a direct line to security. Not a problem, just inconveni

Koa as always a great place to stay and have a good time with the family when you’re camping.

It was only an overnight stay, but we had a great time and will definitely return.

The spots are very tight for bigger rv's. Our spot was close to the main so it was very noisy. The campground was full of loud side by sides that would parade around most of the day until around 10 at night. The last couple of days we were there, there was a young girl on a side by side that just rode around the loops all day. It could be a great campground if you aren't looking for quiet time.

The staff at Palmer Gulch are friendly and helpful, especially the coffee/gift shop girl, very sweet. Found lots of great “gifts” in the well-appointed gift shop! The meatloaf special was really yummy in the restaurant at the top of the stairs. You couldn’t ask for a more beautifully scenic location! Overall, a very well organized facility and handsomely attended grounds. Love all the flower

Everything was awesome, great escape. Only thing was the K9 camp (dog park) was in disrepair. Gates and fencing were broken. Disappointing as we use them quite often.

There’s a good reason we’ve been going back to Palmer Gulch KOA for years now. It’s a fantastic place, peaceful, lots of things for kids to do, and well-kept facilities. We already reserved for 2026!!

Fun place!!

We love the campground and we have been there 5 times! My parents loved it when they visited 20 years ago. Great staff and fantastic atmosphere all around. We will be back again next year.

Two complaints: it was pitch black at night and very little light to find our way which was frustrating. Also in the office they said the pizza place closed at 10, it was 8:00 and they refused to serve us :/. We were hungry and tired. But the camp is ideal for a family to enjoy the amenities with their children! Lots of fun options.

Very nice stay. People very friendly. Lots of extras - all you can eat pancakes for 3.50 was a real bargain!! Evening performance by local artist exceptional!

Campground was nice but food was bad and expensive.

We loved staying at this location. The park is very nice and close to so many places to go and see. My only disappointment was the small dog park. For such a large resort, I expected more.

This place has lots of activity all day long. There are motorcycles, side-by-sides, bicycles, etc. always on the small roads around the campsites. The sites are very close and rather small. Our motorhome had about 3 feet space before the road. They advertise Wi-Fi but it is really not available. If you like a lot of people, then you may like this place.

Was very nice but too crowded and packed in too close to other campers.

My wife and I just stayed at this Mount Rushmore location. First time staying here and didn't know what to expect. We where pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The campground was like staying at a 5 star resort. They have so much to offer and it's in the perfect location to visit any of the tourist locations in the area. Definitely would love to stay here again

With all the amenities, it’s like having your own little town right there. It’s so close to many of the attractions, it has several places to eat right in the campground & we were even able to rent our car from the Kamp! Everyone was very accommodating.

Two night stay. Nice & quiet in the evening hours. Amenities are excellent, especially if one is traveling with children; though we were not. Very nice store in registration building & two available restaurants on-site. Price is higher than many places, plus the add-on of a ‘resort fee’ of $13/night; but there are plenty of activities whether one uses them or not, thus the higher cost.

This was our second time staying at Palmer Gulch and it did not disappoint. Great place with all the amenities, especially for family with kids. Endless amount of things to do. Clean, well kept and great service. The only request - wish there were some non-dairy options at breakfast and Turtle Town for those with dairy allergies.

NO WI FI IN MY AREA IN THE CAMP GROUND

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed most of the fun activities! Park is clean, peaceful for the most part and we loved the many ATV trails. Will return.

The staff was so friendly and helpful! The park is very clean and well kept! We didn't take advantage of everything, but didn't eat dinner at Tne Peak restaurant.

Very noisy with all the gas fired golf carts and 4 wheelers. Staff kept the bathrooms clean . Could spread campers out better when not busy . Pancake breakfast was great .

My campsite was lovely. The bathroom location could use some work. There wasn't any place to park and you had to walk quite a way to get to them. The pool was frigid and the mini golf was pretty worn out and there were not enough clubs to really play. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly.

Overall, decent stay. A lot of fun things to do- horses were our favorite. Unfortunately, the pool near the lodge was always full and we could never get on the pickleball court, like we wanted. We stayed in one of the rooms for 3 nights and not once was our room cleaned up- I did not know until the last day that they don't come in the rooms without a request- this needs to be communicated at check-in (a family of four- there were towels piling up on the floor and would've been nice to have our trash taken out, plus we had to go to the desk to ask for toiletries and fresh towels). The lodge has very limited breakfast items (just cereals, muffins, yogurt, etc); would've been nice to have a free hot meal. TV didn't work for 3-4 days (offered very low compensation for this). While the front desk was overall helpful, there were times they could get snarky/short. Would've loved a fitness center/gym offered. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure in shower was good. Room on arrival was clean. Would come again.

We planned our vacation to the Mount Rushmore KOA Resort based on a recommendation from a friend. Since we aren't campers, we opted for a camping cabin, thinking it would be a comfortable alternative to traditional camping. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The website notes that the cabins do not have air conditioning, but it also suggests that it's not needed because temperatures cool off significantly at night. While that may be true under normal circumstances, it wasn't our experience. We visited during a stretch of upper-90-degree temperatures, and our cabin received direct sunlight for most of the day. Because of the cabin's location and window configuration, there was very little airflow. We ran three fans 24 hours a day and kept the front door open whenever we were at the site, yet the cabin didn't reach a reasonably comfortable temperature until after 1:00 a.m. each night. In addition to the heat, the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses were so firm that we may as well have been sleeping on the ground in a tent. The bottom bunk was especially difficult to use. There was very little clearance, making it hard to crawl in, roll over, or get out. I hit my head multiple times throughout the night. While the camping cabin was not a good fit for us, the resort itself was nice. The property is very large, but they also pack a lot of campsites into the available space. Our cabin site included a picnic table and fire ring, but there wasn't much additional room. We're used to having space to spread out, set up a grill, toss a ball around, and relax, and that wasn't really possible at our site. The bathrooms appeared to be recently renovated. The shower stalls were somewhat small and the water pressure could have been better, but everything was very clean and well maintained. The pools were decent and provided a welcome way to cool off, when they weren't temporarily closed for hygiene-related issues. I do wish there had been more shade around the pool area, such as umbrellas or covered seating. Because one of the pools was closed multiple times during our stay, everyone crowded into the remaining pool. It became too crowded for us to want to get in, and there wasn't enough shaded seating for parents who simply wanted to watch their kids swim. Ultimately, after two nights of miserable sleeping conditions, we decided to cut our stay short and move to a hotel. The staff were very understanding and apologetic about our experience. They refunded the unused nights without hesitation, and I was genuinely grateful for that level of customer service. Overall, if you're an avid camper who doesn't mind dealing with the elements, or if you're traveling in an RV, this is likely a great campground. As for us, we learned an important lesson the hard way: we're just not campers.
