We had a Wonderful stay! The Chuck Wagon Breakfast, Take a Horse to Dinner, and Chuck Wagon Dinner was TERRIFIC!! The Hosts and Cooks were Excellent! We met so many Nice Folks from All over the Country. And the location was perfect: Center of Everything we wanted to see and do! Especially loved the Excitement of the Surprise "Black Hawk" landing across the street during the "Great 250 Celebration"

Beautiful place to with so many different things to do including many different activities for kids. Our only complaint is the young summer staff that’s working. Most of the time they were messing around, throwing out cuss words in front of kids, and staring at their phones while “working”. Other than that complaint the KOA was beautiful.

Great place to stay with kids. So many things for them to do.

So clean, organized and fun! We are already booking for next year!

We stayed 5 nights to see the monuments and other sights. The campground is very clean and offers a variety of activities for everyone. It is centrally located making our sightseeing easy. I would definitely recommend.

This was our first stay at a KOA. We recently purchased an RV and this was our first big trip. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing our stay was. From the beginning after a very long drive, we met Lenny. He put a smile on our face and had us laughing. He showed us to our site and then was super helpful with great things to do and see. The chuck wagon dinner was beyond yummy. First class show!!

I have been to this KOA 30 years ago and I came back just recently. What a nice location and place. I would like to see more trees planted throughout the campground. Many of the sites have no trees which limits your privacy. Other then the trees I loved the place.

Great location and tons of ammenities.

We loved everything about this place. The closeness to Mt. Rushmore made it convenient. Everything was tidy and clean. Every staff person we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our “truck hauler” trailer when we were leaving and the maintenance personnel got me the items I needed to fix the problem and be on our way to our next KOA campground down in Ogallala Nebra

Fantastic spot for families. Plenty for kids to do, and convenient base for sightseeing. It is a large park and sites are close together. Observe the 5mph limit as children are darting in and out from all directions. I wish my grandson was older so I could take him to this campground. Clean showers, handles on restroom door was falling off. Good restaurant and bar on site. We enjoyed our 2 nights

Overall we had a great experience. We did notice some unpleasant odors when at the pool at the fun zone. Some of the temporary college age staff also didn’t seem like they really wanted to assist us, mostly at Turtle Town. The bounce pillows closed early due to heat, some shade there would be nice.

We had a family reunion. We stayed in site #193 in the campground and others stayed in an executive lodge. We did this 12 years ago as well. Too much traffic and people going too fast along the road now. It was dangerous with the kids on bikes and electric scooters. Speed bumps are needed from the propane station to the kids area. Food at resort was great. Next time will come in the off-season.

Such a great place. They have everything you need! Communication was great. Everyone was helpful. Two pools, mini golf, playgrounds, clean comfort stations, panning for gold, Grapes and grinds, the laundromat, etc. We loved doing the chuck wagon dinner at the Stables as well! Campsites were clean and people were friendly. They have onsite car, bike, golf cart rentals. Very close to Mount Rushmore.

Too many people for the facilities. Pools were closed for cleaning all day on a very hot day. Kids were everywhere unsupervised. Kids about 12 were riding other kids in golf carts. Kids on electric bikes speeding by. If you want a quiet relaxing experience camping do not go here. Too loud and busy for us.

Very clean, quiet, every neighbor we had was respectful, playgrounds were nice and clean , staff was friendly and helpful.

Way too many sites bunched together. Swimming pool was closed a whole day while we were there. It was in the 90’s and couldn’t use the pool.

Spots very close together, but overall happy with amenities. My teen girls loved the horse back riding. The campground is very close to many attractions. Not able to make/receive any phone calls while there.

The campground is beautiful. The bathrooms were very clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the maintenance staff who had to help us push our trike motorcycle into our toy hauler camper. The battery had died and we couldn't get it in by ourselves.

This was my 2nd time camping here. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Due to truck issues, my trailer had to be towed to site and the staff assisted with an alternative spot and they drove me out there to check on it in advance of the tow trucks arrival. My only complaint is they really need to install a cell tower so we campers would have cellular service.

This is an extremely tight park. The sites are very close together and people walk through your site constantly to get to bath houses, dumpsters, etc. This is a park made for children with the amenities offered…..that’s not a bad thing if you have children, The park is close to all the local attractions..

An absolutely incredible experience

Felt very crammed in there and staff wasn’t near as helpful as other KOA’s. Stayed at 6 KOA’s on this trip and unfortunately this was our least favorite.

First time to visit. Amazing place. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We'll be back.

Nice place, showers and management, GREAT location with many many things to do!!!....BUT the atv/utv/2 wheeler /&cart noise continued too late past 1030pm and became a nuisance with their constant riding around by

It was amazing we were staying near the fun zone and our kids loved playing mini golf and volleyball between going out to see sites.
Jul 14, 2026
Only downside was the pool had bugs and debris in it on Friday. A lady in the pool actually got the screen and started cleaning the pool. Kiddie pool was also dirty.

we stayed for 6 nights and had a great time with lots of activities and swimming for the kids staff was friendly and the entire ground were clean and well maintained. Chuckwagon supper is a must do in my opinion. The only disappointment was for my kids at check in when was they were told the trout pond was not stocked at this time which for a family of kids who love to fish was unfortunate.

The entire staff were great, friendly and helpful! Lisa was the best, she went above and beyond at our check in to find us a site to accommodate a tent for our grandchildren! We will definitely be back!

The resort had everything we could have wanted. The staff was so accommodating when we asked to stay another night. The laundry mat was spotless. We will stay again next year.
Jul 13, 2026
We only stayed here one night but it had everything we need, very clean bathrooms and laundry room. We would stay here again if we are in the area.

Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff.

This is a great KOA if you want a KOA that has everything and is great for a family stay with kids! Amazing amenities for sure we always have a great time here. It definitely gets a little crowded with so many vehicles/ATV/OHV's allowed on every site, but still a great place to stay.
Jul 13, 2026
Amazing campground for the entire family. Our kids were crazy about the pools and play zones, so much that they chose to spend the entire last day at the campground. The restaurants have great food options and the tap room at the Peak restaurant has the best bartenders and drink specials.
Jul 13, 2026
Very well organized, staff polite and knowledgeable. Great number of things to do. Close to sights to see. Way to crowded, needs to be about half its size.
Jul 13, 2026
Wonderful accommodating staff! So many things to do in the campground for the kids! Lovely gift shop with some great wine!!
Jul 13, 2026
nice amenities, clean, friendly staff and a lot of things for kids to do our spot we had was kinda small which was ok but we observed a few campers that came in and complained to the person brining them to their spot that they didn’t like it and got to move. We weren’t offered that so kinda frustrating but we aren’t people who complain.

We stayed at Mount Rushmore July 1st to the 19th of July. We had such an amazing time. We have been coming to the Black Hills for about 14 years, and this is the first time we stayed at Mount Rushmore KOA only because they book up fast. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. A few days before we got there, I called and spoke to a gentlemen name Chris (which was a manager) we asked to stay in a certain site, and he accommodated us. we will be staying again there next year. Thank you, Mount Rushmore KOA, for such a great experience. Thank you! Farrows

This was our first stay at a KOA. I have never met nicer people. Lenny who greeted us from the start, was exactly what we needed after a long trip. He had us smiling and laughing soon after we arrived. He showed us to our sight and was super helpful in explaining everything to us. The campgrounds have so many activities for the kids. The all you can eat pancakes for $3.50 is a must to experience. And sign up for the Cowboy Dinner. The food is amazing and the music was first rate!! Wonderful experience for the whole family. We can't wait to come back!!

Individual sites are a bit small, but if it's a Basecamp for area attractions it hardly matters. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Ice and wood were a bit pricey. Great amenities. Wonderful for families.
