Perfect place for a weekend or whole week of camping especially with younger children. Would be a wonderful place for a group to come together when people have various comfort levels when it comes to camping and outdoor living.

Great location and facilities and wonderful staff but need to keep the pool cleaner given the volume of kids that swim and keep the dead flies out of the taco tent food prep area. We did not have consistent hot water in our cabin shower for the entire stay which was disappointing given what we paid to stay there.

We rented cabin #475. Suggestions: provide more soap. It could also have more utensils (large serving spoon and bowls,small knife, and colander, The refrigerator made a lot of noise and froze all of our food. The grill worked great!

We stayed for a week in a cabin. They will stack you like cordwood. Shower house was disgusting, cabin stunk and we had to clean the bed/floor from all the sand. Kids almost ran over twice by drunk people on golf carts as they drove in our site. Horse stables were awesome. Pools and kids stuff was okay, but overcrowded. I would stay somewhere else next time! You will have a better time!

The facilities were very clean and all the staff members very friendly. Really enjoyed the evening live music options. The site advertises wifi bit we really struggled to connect and/or stay connected while on the property. The scenery and sunsets were fabulous. We really liked the location-it provided quick access to many of the places we wanted to visit while in the area.

This was one of our favorite vacations ever! There were so many fun things to do on site, it was safe and very well maintained, and the weather/scenery was BEAUTIFUL! And obviously, there were so many amazing day trips around. Highly recommend!

We stayed in a deluxe cabin with a loft - perfect set up for our family. Wonderful amenities for the kids - there was so much to do just at the resort that we wished we had more time there.

Smallest KOA sites we’ve seen. Dirty bathrooms all the time; never fully cleaned. Resort fees but not a resort feel. Nicest place was the new pool area and bathroom (this one was actually clean but didn’t find it till end of stay). Extremely hot and should have ac in kabins (doesn’t cool off at night like site says) and everything melts during day. Run down campground. Needs complete renovat

The cabin is very overpriced for the size. The campground is nice and clean and it’s nice to have all the amenities that they do, but I would not recommend renting a cabin only because of the price for what you get.

Such a great resort of a group of families. A wide variety of activities for kids to choose from no one has a chance to be bored. Stayed in a standard cabin- love those! You feel like you are camping but get a better night sleep, and are always dry even if it rains. We were impressed how quiet the resort is at night and early in the morning, even with so many people around!

We enjoyed our time on the campground. I would recommend soap dispensers being lower to allow kids to wash their hands with soap! Having the activities schedule prior to arrival would help us plan our days. This was our third time staying here and love the safety of the grounds, cleanliness and family friendly atmosphere. On check out day our kids begged to stay longer!!

This is a nice resort pricey but nice for young families. I have stayed here for the at least 15 years and it is a beautiful location. The new pool is beautiful but very noisy for the lodge visitors who want to sit out on their decks and enjoy the vistas. I love to swim and sit in the hot tub however too many children were in both. and unsupervised. I would love to see pool hours for adults only

We really enjoyed our stay! So many activities for the kids to enjoy, perfect location to Mount Rushmore and the cabin was just right for our family of four. We will definitely be back.

This was our second time staying at Palmer Gulch. We love this campground. I was so impressed with the cleaning crew that keeps the bathrooms spotless!!!

Spent two nights in a deluxe cabin with loft. Facilities were generally well maintained and customer service was solid if not quick. Would not come back though as campground was just too large and crowded for us.

Great location minutes from Mount Rushmore! HUGE property! Nice break from road trip. We stayed two nights in different cabins! I think the review would have been very different if I wrote just on first location! Way too many people for bath/shower location an NO wifi at all! Then me moved next to fun zone it was great for family stop!

Great resort! Wasn't a fan of the chuckwagon (been on better) but Turtle Town was great, shout out to the manager there who was great with my son's food allergies! Overall, a great stay!

Loved our stay! Close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Alyssa helped me check in and gave me directions, she was very sweet.

We stayed in our first cabin at a KOA at this resort and it was fantastic. The beds were comfy, had electricity and was able to secure the door while away. Bathrooms were the CLEANEST of all KOA's during our 21-day road trip cross country!

When reservation was made I was assured we would have sites at time of booking- January. When we arrived we were told by staff our cabin site had been changed 3times. Do we were not able to placed next to our friends we had made the reservation with. When problems arose supervisor was only willing to discuss and come out of back room when we insisted on visiting with her! Extremely disappointed!

Very fun, lots of things to do. Great for kids. Staff is friendly. Way over-priced food and merchandise. Bathrooms are very dirty especially by the pool-needs textured slip proof floors. Cabins are pretty worn down, alot of dust and grim build up. No A/C in cabin is tough. Beds are hard.

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
