I mainly look for a level site. This site was on the side of hill and had a downward slope. In addition to was sloped downhill. My motorhome finally settled with noticeable starboard list and down by the front by 3 degrees. Lots of costy amenities for a family but of no interest on a one night stay. Of 12 KOA’s utilized this trip this KOA gets the bottom ranking.

Our only complaint was the wait to try and order food when everyone in front of us was waiting on ice cream. We gave up and went to peak. Service was great, but food was not very good for the price. All staff were pleasant and helpful.

Absolutely amazing adventure we had! Would recommend to all---except bring your own wifi--extremely poor connection and unable to connect most days. We had starlink so it worked out. I would come back again!!

VERY busy place! Pretty much a city by itself. Lots of things for kids to do. We rented a UTV for the trails and it did not disappoint. Pretty easy in/out with our 45' rig you just have to watch other vehicles who don't understand right-of-ways and how a big rig can't stop on a dime. The entrance is used for both entering and exiting. The staff were very friendly and helped us to our spot.

Fill up the potholes in the RV parking areas. # 180 was a mudhole. Some shower doors across from 179 and 180 are so tight they have to be shut with force. The molded shower stall shelves are so small they hold barely anything. The clothes hooks on the doors in the shower stalls are to short. Replace. Rental carts are running around all over and yet an employee stopped my daughter on an ATV.

Overall great place. Plenty of activities. My only two issues are tight spaces. Hard to even park your truck at the site. 2nd, having gift shop purchases going through the reservation line. I ended up not evening making a purchase. Maybe not my first pick next time I return to the area.

We had a great stay! The park is massive, extremely clean, a ton to do for everyone! The staff that we dealt with were all amazing! Looking to plan a longer trip for next year already!

Our site was level and spacious. We were glad to be in the area near the horse paddocks, and we enjoyed seeing them leave and return to their quarters over the days of our stay. The staff was always super friendly and helpful, and I'm sure they were busy all day long! The restaurant and prospectors tents offered very good food for a decent price. I was glad to not leave the campground on occasion.

We loved this KOA so much that we cried when we left. The amenities are amazing, the location is perfect, and their staff is the absolute best! We can’t wait for our next trip back!

The stay was great, the amenities for the kids were awesome. The one area for improvement is the food at the Peak restaurant, it was not very good at all. My elk burger was dry, overcooked and flavorless. My husband’s brisket sandwich was dry as well. The service and staff were great however.

Overall a nice KOA resort. Definitely geared towards families with children. One thing that is missing...and it's a big miss...especially given the available space...is a decent dog park. The resort could easily set aside 1/2 to 3/4 of an acre of the huge lawn area for a fenced in dog park.

Mt. Rushmore KOA @ P.G.: great location for exploring surrounding areas in the South Dakota Black Hills w/ not too far a drive to Badlands National Park. Good for families with children. But the sites are close together with very little room for trucks, hauling vehicles. If decent WiFi is important, this is NOT the place to stay even for basic texting on property w/ travel partners. The campground is very nice, but the sites themselves are not so much. Our site was very unlevel and difficult to maneuver into because of the trees, narrow road and tight spaces. For the money I expected much better site prep. 1 star for the site, 5 stars for the activities for the kids.

We were very pleased with Patrick, a maintenance personnel. Our site had to have dirt dug out to get our 5th wheel hooked up to our truck. He was professional and patient & knew his job.

Appears to be in need of additional facilities - always a line for bathroom/shower. Shower has nowhere to sit - facilitating dressing, not falling, etc. Power at times dipped below 105v activating safety systems in rig. Better overall amenities than most places we have seen. Check-in understaffed and inefficient. If some of above were attended to, value would be increased.

Beautiful campground in a great location. There are lots of things to do in the area and for the kids to do in the campground. Wonderful customer service. The only negatives were the quality of food. The food options were great, but the taste was lacking. The activities also didn't seem very well put together. It would be nice to have an area that is more geared toward adults in the campground.

Now this, friends, was a great place to stay. Tons of things for kids and adults to do. It was great seeing kids riding bikes and scooters, swimming, and running, playing putt putt golf with their dads, and playing basketball and volleyball! No electronic devices! Of course there were a couple of adults on phones, but it was great seeing kids with no pads! And there is a riding!!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Camped with 3 grandkids and there was plenty of things for them to do. Cell phone service and internet service is very poor. Very close to Mount Rushmore. Beautiful scenery.

not placed with our group, the pick my site fee was paid, in a site that was too small for our rig, the office was very difficult to work with- after much argument- they agreed to move us with an extra cost, but not until the next day, unwilling to work with us when mom ended up hospitalized and needed to cancel a reservation and move parents camper to rapid city for my dad. Poor customer service

This place is huge! It is truly a resort tucked away in the Black Hills. Multiple pools, hot tubs, bike rentals, movie nights, horseback riding, dining and a coffee shop. Bathrooms were always clean and well maintained. There are plenty of things for the kids to do each day.

Amazing campground with tons of amenities. Sites are very crowded. It must be a spectacular place for families with children. It's busier than a 3 Ring Circus with children's activities everywhere. I personally wish there was a quieter section with more spacious sites. We saw about 3 sites off the beaten path. We reserved best available site, 7 mos in advance & it's not great.

We spent a week here in the summer, and had a really great experience. We loved the stable and we enjoyed the pool. The best part was that our 9-year-old, an only child, was able to go and play with other kids every day. He played chess, basketball, miniature golf, and Gaga ball, and had a wonderful time. We also appreciated the proximity to Jewel Cave and Mount Rushmore. I want to express my great appreciation for Jeff from Guest Services. One night some older kids showed up to play Gaga ball and my son got hurt and was scared of the big kids who were playing rough. Jeff showed up to help, tracked down the big kids (they actually ran away at first and he had to RUN after them to track them down!), counseled my son more than once to help him not be scared about talking to them, got the big kids to apologize and talked to their parents without being punitive or mean in any way, and overall just did a really great job. The staff here in general is great but Jeff super impressed my entire family.
