The spots are very tight for bigger rv's. Our spot was close to the main so it was very noisy. The campground was full of loud side by sides that would parade around most of the day until around 10 at night. The last couple of days we were there, there was a young girl on a side by side that just rode around the loops all day. It could be a great campground if you aren't looking for quiet time.

The staff at Palmer Gulch are friendly and helpful, especially the coffee/gift shop girl, very sweet. Found lots of great “gifts” in the well-appointed gift shop! The meatloaf special was really yummy in the restaurant at the top of the stairs. You couldn’t ask for a more beautifully scenic location! Overall, a very well organized facility and handsomely attended grounds. Love all the flower

We were given campsite 19 it was very wet and muddy also after crossing walk bridge we had to walk through other peoples campsites to get to the shower house

Everything was awesome, great escape. Only thing was the K9 camp (dog park) was in disrepair. Gates and fencing were broken. Disappointing as we use them quite often.

There’s a good reason we’ve been going back to Palmer Gulch KOA for years now. It’s a fantastic place, peaceful, lots of things for kids to do, and well-kept facilities. We already reserved for 2026!!

Fun place!!

We love the campground and we have been there 5 times! My parents loved it when they visited 20 years ago. Great staff and fantastic atmosphere all around. We will be back again next year.

Two complaints: it was pitch black at night and very little light to find our way which was frustrating. Also in the office they said the pizza place closed at 10, it was 8:00 and they refused to serve us :/. We were hungry and tired. But the camp is ideal for a family to enjoy the amenities with their children! Lots of fun options.

Very nice stay. People very friendly. Lots of extras - all you can eat pancakes for 3.50 was a real bargain!! Evening performance by local artist exceptional!

Campground was nice but food was bad and expensive.

We loved staying at this location. The park is very nice and close to so many places to go and see. My only disappointment was the small dog park. For such a large resort, I expected more.

This place has lots of activity all day long. There are motorcycles, side-by-sides, bicycles, etc. always on the small roads around the campsites. The sites are very close and rather small. Our motorhome had about 3 feet space before the road. They advertise Wi-Fi but it is really not available. If you like a lot of people, then you may like this place.

Was very nice but too crowded and packed in too close to other campers.

Beautifully And clean

My wife and I just stayed at this Mount Rushmore location. First time staying here and didn't know what to expect. We where pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The campground was like staying at a 5 star resort. They have so much to offer and it's in the perfect location to visit any of the tourist locations in the area. Definitely would love to stay here again

With all the amenities, it’s like having your own little town right there. It’s so close to many of the attractions, it has several places to eat right in the campground & we were even able to rent our car from the Kamp! Everyone was very accommodating.

Two night stay. Nice & quiet in the evening hours. Amenities are excellent, especially if one is traveling with children; though we were not. Very nice store in registration building & two available restaurants on-site. Price is higher than many places, plus the add-on of a ‘resort fee’ of $13/night; but there are plenty of activities whether one uses them or not, thus the higher cost.

This was our second time staying at Palmer Gulch and it did not disappoint. Great place with all the amenities, especially for family with kids. Endless amount of things to do. Clean, well kept and great service. The only request - wish there were some non-dairy options at breakfast and Turtle Town for those with dairy allergies.

NO WI FI IN MY AREA IN THE CAMP GROUND

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed most of the fun activities! Park is clean, peaceful for the most part and we loved the many ATV trails. Will return.

The staff was so friendly and helpful! The park is very clean and well kept! We didn't take advantage of everything, but didn't eat dinner at Tne Peak restaurant.

Very noisy with all the gas fired golf carts and 4 wheelers. Staff kept the bathrooms clean . Could spread campers out better when not busy . Pancake breakfast was great .

My campsite was lovely. The bathroom location could use some work. There wasn't any place to park and you had to walk quite a way to get to them. The pool was frigid and the mini golf was pretty worn out and there were not enough clubs to really play. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly.

5 families and 1 had a decent site. Ours was the worst! We have a 40 ft toy hauler and we’re on a cliff! The worst site in the park! We could not have a fire and couldn’t sit outside or use the picnic table that was hanging off the cliff! We had to get help getting off the site for fear of damaging our rig. Please do better!!!!!

The only complaint I have is that it would be nice to see a picture of the camp spot when going to select the site. I would of chosen a different site # due to the size of our camper

As retired adults we would have preferred a space that was not across from the FUN ZONE. When asked at check in if there are any children with us - and the answer was no - that would have been a great time to look at what space we were assigned #336, and ask if we would prefer something quieter. This KOA is wonderful for families with children, not so much if it's someone traveling without kids.

Why does the bathrooms need to be closed (for cleaning) at prime time of use. Tried using at 8 and 8:30am.

Great Campground and great hospitality from all the staff.

Wonderful in every way except need better internet service.
Aug 26, 2025
Most things were great - employees service, facilities, bathrooms and showers. But the kids driving their bicycles and scooters well above the speed limits (without any care about safety of others in their path) is enough for my family to stay away from any KOA.

So much fun, a lot of fun things for the kids!!

Very beautiful campground. Would definitely stay here again. Love the Prospectors Tent, great breakfast with reasonable prices.

We really enjoyed our stay. Many amenities and everyone was friendly. We would definitely recommend and stay again. The only thing I wish they had were fans in the showers and a possible bench. Otherwise everything was cleaned on a daily basis.

From check in an, it was AWESOME! Everyone was so friendly! We went to The Peaks several times and had the same server every time. He was amazing! Always had a smile for us! We will definitely be back! KOA did good with this property.

The best place we have stayed
Aug 25, 2025
We stayed 5 nights. We were sightseeing in the area so didn't really use the facilities. So the $13 per day resort charge on top of the high rate of $160+ per day was a bit steep. Shower curtains were moldy. Paint peeling off the wall. Our BBQ grill was filthy and we told the office but nothing done. Location was good for sightseeing. Staff in the office was friendly.

We spent a week here in the summer, and had a really great experience. We loved the stable and we enjoyed the pool. The best part was that our 9-year-old, an only child, was able to go and play with other kids every day. He played chess, basketball, miniature golf, and Gaga ball, and had a wonderful time. We also appreciated the proximity to Jewel Cave and Mount Rushmore. I want to express my great appreciation for Jeff from Guest Services. One night some older kids showed up to play Gaga ball and my son got hurt and was scared of the big kids who were playing rough. Jeff showed up to help, tracked down the big kids (they actually ran away at first and he had to RUN after them to track them down!), counseled my son more than once to help him not be scared about talking to them, got the big kids to apologize and talked to their parents without being punitive or mean in any way, and overall just did a really great job. The staff here in general is great but Jeff super impressed my entire family.
