This is a hard one because we love staying here and have for the last 45 years but the wasps were aweful. My grandson got bit over 5 times, i was bit twice, my son got bit and there was no way to get rid of them. It was very hard to do anything outside. Meal times were bad and even at the pool. Not sure what will happen if theynare there next year when we come. Maybe there can be some discount?

We had a wonderful stay! We love this campground and come every year. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. We really enjoy our experience.

Everything was fantastic the amenities are great and it’s wonderful to see that you improve and expand since our last stay many years ago. Some constructive advice….cabins are dirty. And putting in a little nicer mattress wouldn’t cost that much. Would make a world of difference.

Rules need to be in place & enforced. Kids/ adults at night with no lights biking & moving around is dangerous. We were ran into so many time by kids/ adults not paying attention. The workers shouldn't start before 7am moving vehicles and equipment. The kids activities should be free, more than 1/2 need to be paid for. The bike rental need rules of where they can go, shouldn't be going activities

Definitely a top-notch resort campground! The staff were all great, very nice, and gave us good info for sight-seeing nearby! The horse trail rides were full for the time we were there, but they recommended a "sister barn" for us to ride and we had an amazing time! The whole campground was very clean, and lots for kids and adults to do, including live music and kids activities every day!

Beautiful park, wonderful spot, it’s a good centerpoint for all attractions. If you are a senior looking for a quiet spot, you might take a note. There are a lot of kids here, but everyone does honor quiet time. Also, Personal UTV’s were brought in and some are extremely loud.

We had a great stay! Staff were very hard working keeping bathrooms cleaned and garbage picked up.

Amenities and facilities on this site and excellent and perfect for families. Lots for children to do with swimming pools, play parks, etc. Several eateries to chose from and free pancakes is a nice touch. Location is lovely set in the woods. Its a big site and was busy when we stayed (would say it was pretty much fully booked).

I really enjoyed our stay at Palmer Gulch! It was a great central location, and we loved all the kid-friendly amenities and how well-maintained the pool and playgrounds were. My only cons were that the TVs advertised in the deluxe cabin didn’t work, which felt like part of what we paid for. The electricity in one bedroom was also out for half our stay, and the hair dryer didn’t work.

Had everything a family could need to stay there. We actually had a hard time getting our kids to want and leave to do other activities! Our campsite was on top of the hill which was not ideal for pushing a stroller up and down ( we have a daughter with special needs) so we would pick a campsite down below next time. Other than that great staff and a beautiful spot to stay!

There were a lot of bees making it very difficult to enjoy the outdoors. I was stung once and my wife was stung twice so we ended up spending our evenings indoors. We enjoyed the shops and ice cream and the lodge pool however the other pool was not to our liking due to bugs in the water. We will probably try again during a different time of year.

The Mt. Rushmore/Palmer Gulch KOA exceeded our expectations! Extremely nice grounds, amenities & great staff at check-in. Something for everyone of all ages from nice swimming pools/horse stables/side-by-side rentals/mini store with groceries & souvenirs. We rented a side-by-side for a half day & road through the Black Hills trails . Highly recommend this activity. Easy access off highway, A+

Lovely park with lots to do. Wished we had a better back in spot, as our picnic table was right next to neighbors sewer hookup. Other than that, it is a clean park, loved the music at night. Loved the pools

The campground was awesome. No complaints whatsoever. Huge complaints about the Outsource food company that ran the pizza ice cream stand next to the main office. Very rude discourteous employees. We came in at 9:35 and was told that they don't serve food anymore after 9:30 when the night prior we were in there at 9:40 and ate dinner. The food was not good at all anyways

We loved the location, as we are riders and it is close to Iron Mountain road. The amenities were amazing! Staff members were very friendly and accommodating. We loved it so much, we booked for next year.

Amazing place. The amenities are amazing and they even have a rodeo. So close to Mount Rushmore and Jewel Cave. We have stayed her a number of times over the last 10 years. We will definitely be back again.

One of our favorite KOAs. Clean, nice bathrooms. Wonderful amenities. Love being able to rent side by sides right there on site. So many activities for children and they loved the updated park.

We stayed for 5 nights. Went horseback riding, and rented a SxS, had ice cream multiple times and played in the pool. My kids loved the waterslide.

Loved and appreciated how friendly and helpful the KOA workers were. They made our family reunion comfortable and fun! So many things to do at this KOA - the kids stayed busy even when it rained and keep asking when we're going back!

This place was absolutely amazing. Helpful and friendly staff, very clean and has something for everyone. We didn’t have young kids traveling with us but I was amazed at all the things available for children to keep them happy, from horseback riding to a water slide. Hill city is located in an area that make visiting Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument, Deadwood and Sturgis easy

We stayed in a camping cabin. The doors wouldn’t open all all the way because the floors are warped. The screens are full of holes and patched with duct tape. The mattresses are ancient and horrible. This is too bad because the rest of the campground is fun. The people are nice. The bathrooms have heavy traffic and could be cleaned more often.

We stayed for two nights in order to explore the areas sites. There’s so much to do specifically for families., we were very impressed.

This jam packed KOA has it all. 2 pools. Waterslide. Playgrounds. Restaurants on the property. Horseback riding. Rodeo. UTV rentals. Lots of activities for the kids. Bounce pillow. It's right down the road from Mount Rushmore. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Cell phone reception is pretty poor, but you can't blame KOA. WiFi is pretty good if you are near their hotspots. There was always KOA employees ripping around, which they should slow down a little bit. We did experience the bees as mentioned by other reviewers. Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed our stay.

Great first experience with KOA! The reservation process was easy, and changing our dates was very convenient. Communication with Dee Dee before arrival was excellent, and check-in was quick and easy. The campground was clean, especially the bathrooms, and all the guests were very respectful. The sites are a little close together, so I would probably avoid the busy summer season. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely stay here again!
