Campground Reviews

The bathrooms in station #3 were the worst we’ve seen. Feces on the floor and toilets multiple times. My son and some friends found poop in the pool. They were the first ones in the pool that morning so clearly the pool hadn’t been checked by staff from the day before. Would have expected higher standards of cleanliness for a resort like this. Very disappointing

It was our first time in the area. We enjoyed our stay. Campground was always clean and plenty of entertainment for the kids. I liked the pancake breakfast in the mornings.

Sites on the hill are small and hard to level. Overall great park with nice amenities and good food. We went on rodeo weekend and had a great time.

This Mount Rushmore KOA Resort at Palmer Gulch was an awesome experience during our stay in the Black Hills. Clean and well maintained grounds and common areas. On site food options are great and availability of riding stables makes this a perfect option when visiting the Mount Rushmore area of the Black Hills.

From God’s created beauty, to amenities, to staff, this is an amazing place. There were 18 of us in 4 Patio Sites and 1 Deluxe Cabin and many great memories were made even before we went sight-seeing. The favorites in our family were horse-back riding, Chuckwagon Dinner, water slide, heated pool, mini golf, all-you-can-eat pancakes and bikes. The Comfort stations were clean.

Had to move sites twice because the deluxe pull thorough I paid was the top deluxe and we were on top of a mountain. The Peak Grill and Taphouse ruined the stay. Such an awful experience. We were scouting for a large group for next year, but will now probably pass this resort.

You have two many Kubota’s rtv going up and down the road all day long making noise starting at 5:30 to 6 am!! There is no piece and quiet.

Nice KOA! Everything went well. Our kids loved the pool an s mini golf. Our only issue was that we had no phone service anywhere in the KOA, and the WiFi did not work well. So we couldn’t make any calls, texts or look up maps or info for our next day of exploring.

Was a very delightful time, weather was great & thanks for that. :) So much for our grandkids to do. Thank you so much and blessings to all. :)

Fantastic campground. We got a spot in the trees so was extra nice. So much to do at the campground hard to believe anyone leaves to sightsee.

We had a wonderful time! First time being here and we live two hours away. We will be back for sure. So many fun things to do. FYI… Site 561 has very dangerous stumps sticking up that we all tripped over many times.

Overall this is our second time here. I love the environment. I wish there was a more stable wifi but overall its my top blackhills campground.

The only thing that complain about is the bathroom by the pool i am not sure it was cleaned fully the whole we week we were there. There was a bandaid that was on the soap dispenser and I find that to be pretty gross. We had a fabulous time and my kids enjoyed all the activities and the location was perfect for seeing all the national sites for seeing.

Very clean and well maintained campgrounds, pools, recreation areas etc. Lots of activities for children and adults. Two big thumbs up for allowing young foreigners to come from all over the world to work there and get the experience working and interacting with campers.

Great location and lots of amenities. Cleanliness of the comfort stations has room for improvement. The men's room of the comfort station was a bio hazard on arrival Friday night with human waste smeared across a bathroom stall and floor. Took at least 12 hours to get cleaned up. Stayed in a cabin and found mattresses to be ok as best - could use replacement soon. That said, we'll be back.

Very well run! Lots of great amenities and activities for all ages. Shops, restrooms/facilities all very well maintained. Most staff were very friendly. The pancake tent had workers who saw us struggling with the water jug and didn’t fill it up until we asked. That staff seemed the most disengaged of all staff who were great.

Wow! I wish I had known has great it would be. Nice people, spectacular amenities, plenty to do on the property. My favorite was watching the horse run back and forth every morning and night.

Bathrooms were not clean and showers need a massive updating for a “resort”. Horseback riding was excellent.

We love the site. However, for us, we used very few of the amenities. We would have preferred a more remote site.

Great location to lots of destinations. Friendly, helpful staff. Morning/evening horse parade to/from the front stable is fun to see. Clean restrooms and facilities.

Beautiful campground. Everyone is so friendly, thank you for the ultimate camping experience.

Our first night was freezing inside the camping cabin. No one explained that a heater was available for RENT. The next day we drove to Rapid City and purchased sleeping bags to add to our covers. Since leaving this KOA - Yellowstone has heaters in the wall as well as St Mary’s Glacier has heaters provided, This shows not all KOA’s are the same, but can improve on the customer’s satisfaction?

This was an excellent stay! We had a nice spot and excellent neighbors. The staff did a wonderful job!

Great resort but the actual campsites are small

Nice place, staff was great. Cost of doing laundry could be more reasonable, but when you have a captive market and it’s inconvenient to go elsewhere, I guess you can charge what you want.

Very well laid out and unbelievable amenities for everyone in the family. Two large pools, pickleball court, lodge in case you don’t camp, and lots of different sizes of cabins, all sizes of RV spots with full hookups and even tent camping.Huge riding stables and horse drawn covered wagons to the chuck wagon dinner.

It was wonderful! Wish we stayed longer. Campground was clean and beautiful. Location was great and the staff were friendly and very welcoming and knowledgeable about things to do. We would stay there again in a minute!

A really fun adventure for our family, our boys in particular. We enjoyed the pool, mini golf, basketball. The breakfasts were a really nice treat. Thank you so much. We enjoyed our stay.!!

The staff was always friendly and helpful. There are so many on-site activities and events. The facilities were clean and the grounds were well maintained. Multiple new playground structures. The campground is centrally located for so many things - Hill City, Mt Rushmore, Needles Hwy, Custer State Park and so much more. The wifi barely
