Have camped here for several years with RVs & staying in your big park model cabins, but wanted to try your camping cabins out. Along with the nice outdoor kitchen pavilion, it was easy to prepare meals & cleanup. The cabins were great, very rustic. One of the biggest KOA campgrounds I have been at. Loads of amenities.the sites are a little cramped. It rained and the sparse grass became muddy.

All the showers had black mold around them, there is no type of mat to step on after getting out of the shower, you step directly onto the wet and slick tile floor. There is no place to put your towel, unless you happen to get one of the few stalls that have a bench in it. All the other KOA’s have had way better showers and they were definitely cleaner. This was definitely a let down here.

Lovely site and well located for all the sights. My score reflects our disappointment with the site closing facilities ahead of the closure in one week - the site was still very well used. For example one laundry had closed, leaving one with 3 washers of which one was broken - 90 minute wait to start your laundry - I don’t think so. If you are open be open.

We stayed during the fall “off season” so a lot of the amenities were closed. The staff was awesome! Very friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. The facility was clean and well thought out. The bathrooms were also very clean but they could use a couple more scattered throughout the facility.

Absolutely one of the best RV Resorts in the USA, the only thing they could improve is the WiFi network on site. We came without our travel device and we had some issues on and off the WiFi. Still doesn’t change our minds of one of the best in the USA �thank you

Late in season stay, many amenities closed. They closed much of the site's and crammed too many and too large of rigs in a small area. Trucks pulling campers had to park in their patio space leaving only a foot or so between rig and truck. Speeders were rampant and mostly the staff, early and late, not much quiet time. Staff cut through our site with the street sweeper, dusty and noisy campground.

Was disappointed that so much was not available. Closed eating, supplies, horseback riding, didn’t have a grill for cooking out. I guess the end of the season wasn’t as great as it was made out to be.

They put us on a pull thru site that was to small and I made the reservation months in advance with the size of our camper. The side drive barely fit the 5th wheel. We had to disconnect the truck and park in the grass next to the camper so close we had to fold the mirrors in and the front of the truck was right up against the burn pit so we couldn't even have a fire.

The campground was fantastic. From the amazing staff to the wonderful sites we throughly enjoyed the 10 days we were there. It was a central location for us to visit the many places on our bucket list. Definitely recommend Palmer Gulch.

It was off season but staff were friendly and helpful from getting into our camping spot safely to checking in and purchasing reduced price gifts for family. Looking forward to our annual trip with family in June 2027.

We loved being so close to Mount Rushmore— even though it was the shoulder season at the KOA , they were so attentive to any need and any as one of the nicest places we have stayed at!

Everyone that works there is real nice and pleasant, upper pool and hot tub are great and well taken care of, the comfort stations and showers are clean, however the cabin I stayed in had chipmunk inside running around and had to to be chased out, mice ran around the cabin every night and traps were promptly sent over where 4 mice and 1 chipmunk were caught inside cabin at night while we slept.

Simply beautiful place to stay. Scenery of the surrounding mountains and countryside are what a person dreams of for a campsite. Yes will stay here again next time we’re in this neck of the woods!

This is a well maintained campground with polite and helpful staff! The area is beautiful and outside of the busyness of the city and in the center of all the great attractions. Would definitely stay there again!

All amenities and food/drink places were closed. It is not cold yet. Hot tubs should stay open. Do not advertise food and drink if it’s not going to be open.

This jam packed KOA has it all. 2 pools. Waterslide. Playgrounds. Restaurants on the property. Horseback riding. Rodeo. UTV rentals. Lots of activities for the kids. Bounce pillow. It's right down the road from Mount Rushmore. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Cell phone reception is pretty poor, but you can't blame KOA. WiFi is pretty good if you are near their hotspots. There was always KOA employees ripping around, which they should slow down a little bit. We did experience the bees as mentioned by other reviewers. Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed our stay.

Great first experience with KOA! The reservation process was easy, and changing our dates was very convenient. Communication with Dee Dee before arrival was excellent, and check-in was quick and easy. The campground was clean, especially the bathrooms, and all the guests were very respectful. The sites are a little close together, so I would probably avoid the busy summer season. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely stay here again!
