Campground Reviews

Nice resort! Beautiful location. Lots of amenities.. The comfort station 2 (restrooms) were very dirty and there is lots of deferred maintenance.. shower heads are broken. It needs some attention. Our RV site was small. Too many kids in pools. We enjoyed the stay but a little too busy for our liking.

Centrally located to just about anywhere you want to go. Amazing family oriented campground, Take them to Bear Country the 1880 steam train and the covered wagon chuck wagon dinner. Clayton the camp chef makes the best campfire beans you’ll taste and will eagerly share his recipe with you. Only suggestion is that they assign people with dogs together all in one area.

We had a great stay. Everyone at the resort was so friendly. The only thing that would have been better was the information sent prior to the stay. I never got an informational email telling us what to bring for our cabin and how to check in. When I tried calling during the week prior to our stay someone would pick up and hang up. The website has limited info on what’s included in each cabin typ

I looked at the pictures you have on your website, booked early so that my site would look at least "similar" to the picture. A little grass, pretty level, close to the action. What I got was the furthest dirty unlevel point you can be away from ANYTHING at the KOA. I immediately went back to registration and asked for a better site from Christina, NOPE. I left a day early, refund? NO... -5 stars

Loved the horses, chuck wagons, pools.

Pool overcrowded

No cell service. Wifi was terrible, not enough bathrooms for the amount of people therre and were dirty some unusable. Was suppose to have a spot next to another guest but was om total opposite ends of camp even after receiving a phone call to confirm this, very upsetting. Etc. Need to get organized there. Obviously miss managed.

Very unhappy with stay. We made a reservation along with my brother and I emailed to be put together, KOA called my brother to confirm and said they would do it. Not only were we not together but we were on opposite sides. The WIFI was terrible to non existent. Bathrooms were disgusting! The water was brown at the faucets (must have a broken water main). So much potential but need to clean

Amenities galore for kids! Super nice bathrooms and shower houses. Staff was very helpful and friendly! Can’t wait to plan our next stay there!!

Probably the nicest KOA we have stayed at, and while it is well cared for and there is a lot to do it just wasn’t our “Cup of Tea”! I think that while ATV’s and Golf carts are fun, the fact that you let underage kids run them up and down the streets, sometimes at higher speeds is irresponsible. Not once did we see any security patrolling at the facility that could have mitigated the matter

Lots of things to do but the water was brown.

All of the activities are amazing and there is so much for the kids, it would have been great except that our entire campsite was covered with goose poop- as in you could not take one step of the camp area without goose poop. Also the pool and waterslide water was not very clean.

Big resort style campground. Has 2 pools and 2 hot tubs. Has a really nice kids playground area. Sites are really tight. Reserved a site down by the kids area but the camper didn’t fit due to a rude neighbor unwilling to move his ATV off our site, so had to move up the hill into the 400’s sites which were nice other than being a strenuous walk to amenities. Great campground all in all. Lots to

Everything was perfect except for the parking stickers was something hard to keep track of.

This resort has a great activity schedule and has a lot of things to do. Kids will have a blast here! The resort is in a beautiful area with the Black Hills surrounding it. The WiFi is very spotty, expect to have buffering to occur at night. Compared to KOA Journey and Holiday campgrounds, the facilities at this resort need to be refreshed (showers, bathrooms and laundry facilities).

Location of the resort is incredible, close to lots of area attractions. The campground is huge and bathrooms are scarce, which is problematic for us tent/pop up campers, not to mention the sporadic cleaning. would be better to schedule this. Golf cart rental prices are outrageous and shouldn't cost the same than the site itself. Staff was nice, but many seemed disinterested in planned activitie.

It was just a little busy for us. Not quiet. Barely had enough room to park camper and then no where to park truck. Nice location for being close to things.

It was awesome. We loved it!!

Smooth check in. Camp site rated for a 40 foot 5th wheel was very tight for a 40 foot 5th wheel. Camp sites are very close together. This KOA has a variety of additional amenities. (Camp Kitchen, various restaurants & etc.)

We’ve been visiting for almost 10 years and this was the worst stay we’ve had. It felt like the resort didn’t care about tent campers at all; the experience felt like a money factory with very little customer service. The first night it was raining, and the site completely flooded. There were dogs barking all day and night. There were drunk people walking around late at night. I didn’t fee

The Camp site was on point!!! I was given one but went to ask to switch it was so simple and we had a great time!!! Thank you for great memeries. The only thing that i can say was a bummer is that i bought fire wood and it was so wet i couldnt use it.

Run down, very dirty, may have been nice years ago but the lack of upkeep and attention to details make it a no go for us again. Campsite has only one dump station, and the black flush there is super low pressure which I told staffers 2 different times but never got fixed.. The pool by the fun zone was so filthy you couldn’t see the bottom and the waterslide water was literally green. Horrible!!

The bathrooms and showers were discussing, they didn't get better at any point. Nothing at the resort was clean. I stay at the KOA down the way in Hill City and that one is so much cleaner.

First night in our Sprinter. Enjoyed the shady and level parking with full hookup. A good stay.

They have everything. I mean everything. I just wish I could have stayed longer.

It was fantastic! Great views, great amenities, and very clean. Would definitely go back and highly recommend!

Absolutely a great place for families to stay. For campers without children, not so much. WiFi was spotty as was cell phone service (AT&T). Great location for seeing Mount Rushmore, crazy horse, and Custer State Park. The park brochure listed several dog breeds, including German shepherds that were not allowed. The campers in the next spot had two of them.

Great time here. Rented ATV to go to Custer Park, Needles Highway and Hill City. Rode Horses, nice newer swimming pool. Wish WiFi had more antennas so it was a better signal all through campground as cell phone service is poor. Location is good for site seeing.

Was great except we were not aware we had to be out of the reunion hall by 9:00 am, please make that known better.

The resort has become so crowded. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The campsites are crowed with smoke from campfires a problem. There was severe weather during our stay. We were unaware of any options for safety or evacuation in event of emergency.

The staff was so kind and friendly. They have everything you need right there for you, you honestly don’t have to worry about anything! Our kids always have a blast with all the things to do! We love staying at Palmer Gulch!

We will be back to Mount Rushmore and this will be the place we stay. Loved the location, the activities, and the entire place. especially the pancake breakfast!!

Always an awesome place to stay!

This was our second time staying at this resort and it was amazing again. We even brought another family with us. Some recommendations for improvement are the camper store people were not as friendly or as helpful as one would expect and walk-ways for pedestrians would be nice to make moving around the roads safer and easier. Our favorite part again was the Chuck Wagon, I recommend that experience

A great family stay! We loved our cabin - clean, comfortable, and perfect with kids. So many activities, food options, and amenities that we spent a lot of time enjoying the resort. Also a great location to access so many other attractions in the area.
