The only issue we had was that our spot was right across from where vehicles waited while checking in. When it got dark, their lights shined right in our camp site. It made relaxing by the fire hard. We kept getting blinded. It would have been nice if there were signs telling them to turn their lights off.

The cabin got to 115 inside during the day and the pool by us was closed with no signage or warning. The showers were pretty gross, and there was staff on pedal carts drag racing right by the cabin. Ultimately for the price - it lacked in Accommodations. This is my 8th KOA and the worst cabin. Most cabins have fridges, TV’s + AC.

Big campground. A lot of amenities. Sites are tight. Need more security type people going around telling ATV golf cart bikes and hoverboards drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians and observe quiet hours. Pool area not cleaned up consistently. A lot of kids cut through sites which was not appreciated. if looking for a campground with easy access to all the popular sites good location.

This was our first time at a KOA. We did not participate in all the campground had to offer but we had a great stay. We picked our spot to be on the outskirts of the campground which suited us. Most spots are very close together and I could see that there were extended families all camping next to each other. The amount of kids on bikes scooters etc all around you was crazy and so great to see.

From check in to check out we had the best time. Our 8.5yrold granddaughter loved all the activities that she could choose from to do. Everything was so close to be able to go on short little day trips. Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse are so close and a must do. Our little 1 room cabin was perfect for our stay. Clean and well maintained. Public areas were always clean and fresh as well.

Fire pits are useless, they are too low. Cooking over a fire on my knees or sitting is not fun. There is no place to sit down to change clothes in the shower. Extremely challenging, especially for seniors, to stand on one leg to put on shorts.

From start to finish it was amazing! So much to do there for the kids and we stayed so busy. The cabin was clean and we were provided with plenty of linens for our 2 days stay. We will be back!

We had a great time with grandkids. However, we had difficulty leveling our camper on the site given to us. We had to switch campsites twice to make it level. Otherwise, everything was wonderful.

Very friendly Staff and workers in the different shops. Loved the pools, hot Tub, the Morning pancake breakfast!! Our campsite had a gorgeous view. Wide and spacious our camping site. Plenty of activities, many for our grandchildren! And for adults or just relax and take in the view. Also I liked that it is a great location to all the outside parks, towns and especially Mt. Rushmore!

We do a yearly family camping trip here every year. This year we even had family fly in from North Carolina to stay at the lodge. Not enough room to discuss issues but have to say the resort has gone down drastically. Pet fees, high resort fees, to go along with broken water slide, bounce mat not open as scheduled. $1000 for 5 days for a camp site, and new this year no cable. Very disappointed.

This is our 32nd year staying, that alone is a testimony to the incredible Palmer Gulch KOA! The staff is absolutely amazing! The amenities are incredible! Our deluxe cabin was home for 10 nights! We already reserved our cabin for next year!!! We can’t wait!

I've been to a lot of campgrounds in my life but I have to say this is the best one I've been to . Very clean a lot of help around if needed and the grounds with kids things to do were great

Staff go out of their way to help. Our back-invsites were wonderful with lots of room and grass. Very fun park. Something for all age groups.

We booked several months in advance and were assured our group of 3 RVs would be next to or near each other and we were put so far apart we might as well have been at separate campgrounds. We had many plans together with all of our kids such as camp fires, crafts and sleep overs but couldn’t do any of them. We drove 1,200 miles. Will be staying at a different campground next time unfortunately.

Very convenient, well appointed, plenty of amenities. It was very busy, but quiet during quiet hours. Screening in our cabin needed to be addressed, but great experience overall.

The manager on duty, Jeff, was amazing as well as the other front check in personnel! I mistakenly booked for the KIA in Rapid City, but Jeff was able to accommodate us. I was truly impressed by the amount of time and patience he took to make it work. My only request is that they would put out of order signs on showers or other amenities that are unavailable. Thank you and we loved our stay!

We stayed one night in a cabin with our family of five, and it was a great experience. The cabin was conveniently located near all of the kid-friendly attractions, making it easy to enjoy everything the area had to offer. We especially appreciated all of the amenities, and the campground was very clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again!

Stay was great as always! Pool was very crowded, I wish guests would have wristbands or a card to get into the pool to stop people who are not staying there using the pool.

Top rate service, great staff. Food was great at the Peak, pancake tent always great. We’ll be booking for next summer in January. Best KOA in America!

Great stay! Wish there was a walking path to get to Turtle town etc without being on the very busy road, especially with kids. Would be nice if the main gravel roads were treated to keep dust down

lots of things to do! if i were in charge i would have someone clean up the landscaping areas so they would be free of weeds, the miniature golf course had rocks all over it, needs to be vacuumed daily or something, but the biggest complaint by far was having to pay $9 for a small bag of ice! really?! great food choices and options!

One of the best KOA locations I have ever visited. Beautiful setting, loads of amenities, clean, well-maintained, and friendly staff. Perfect location for visiting Mount Rushmore.

Loved the pools and slide was a bonus. Would have loved to have seen a topographical map so we knew how hilly it was. I am glad I was placed in the cabin where we were because it was flat and close to all amenities.

I would like to acknowledge 2 employees who went above and beyond to make our stay great! Jeff at the check-in desk was so knowledgeable and helpful fixed our reservations so that we were able to camp near our family. Elijah who worked in the fun zone didn’t hesitate to jump on his bike and ride around looking for my 7yo who got lost during a rainstorm. Great staff members deserve kudos.

The campground has a beautiful setting for the price I thought the showers could of been nicer where we were at there was only one that had a toilet and sink in it. But overall it was a nice stay

This jam packed KOA has it all. 2 pools. Waterslide. Playgrounds. Restaurants on the property. Horseback riding. Rodeo. UTV rentals. Lots of activities for the kids. Bounce pillow. It's right down the road from Mount Rushmore. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Cell phone reception is pretty poor, but you can't blame KOA. WiFi is pretty good if you are near their hotspots. There was always KOA employees ripping around, which they should slow down a little bit. We did experience the bees as mentioned by other reviewers. Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed our stay.

Great first experience with KOA! The reservation process was easy, and changing our dates was very convenient. Communication with Dee Dee before arrival was excellent, and check-in was quick and easy. The campground was clean, especially the bathrooms, and all the guests were very respectful. The sites are a little close together, so I would probably avoid the busy summer season. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely stay here again!
