Campground Reviews

Chattanooga in the name is a little misleading since we didn’t even make it to tennessee. The location was a disappointment. Staff friendliness - as always 10/10. Amenities due to the time of year pill not opened. Not paved so not good for riding bikes. Kids playground was lacking. In fact the dog playground looked more fun/cared for. The air pillow was 10/10 kids enjoyed it a lot.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Chattanooga's two KOA locations are named after the major city, with both campgrounds only being 16 miles away. We hope you enjoyed your stay and the Chattanooga West/Lookout Mountain KOA.

This campground was immaculately clean. The staff were very friendly and nice. The only reason I had to give 4 stars was the wooden staircase from the lower campsites to the playground was completely rotten and unsafe. The wood was so soft it would give way and move and felt my foot was going to go through it every time I used it. It needs to be closed and rebuilt immediately.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for addressing this concern. As of April 7,2026, these steps have been rebuilt. We hope to see you again!

Very nice but the maintenance is superb

We have stayed here multiple times. This time it was for only one night, but the restrooms were clean and the sites were quiet. My son enjoyed the spiderweb playground equipment.

Great location. We stayed in a tent site and it was beautiful and felt private. There are clean bathrooms and the front store/desk had helpful items for sale if needed. The woman at the front office was above and beyond kind and helpful.

Clean, great staff, and good location. We will stay there again!

Cabins clean, but bedding for deluxe - aweful. Communial bathrooms the best we have ever seen. But everything else was medicore. Main activities were unavailable and not noted as such prior to booking except pool (understandable). We choose KOA for the family friendly experience and the jump pad was closed, the mining closed, the yard games only during office hours. Dog playground better then kids

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate your stay with us. Recreation activities are weather dependent, just as the pool wasn't open. Please see "Recreation Tab" on our website. We do provide basic linens, more if weather dictates. Thank you for staying with us.

Bathrooms are fantastic...would be nice if they were all working...sometimes had to wait for bathroom. Would give five stars if more bathrooms worked.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the limited accolades. We hope you understand the limitations when we are remodeling the bathrooms. Sorry you had to wait for a nice shower. Thanks for visiting

Great shower and laundry facilities. Spacious sites. We enjoyed a paver patio with table and chairs and fire pit. Quiet and scenic. Friendly hosts. Dry firewood delivered to our site. Gas tanks refilled on site.

We had a great day. Everything was perfect. The sites are a little close to one another.

Beautiful place to stay. The Wi-Fi wasn’t too good, but that could be because the weather was bad with freezing rain and snow. Otherwise really pretty place with nice bathrooms.

We had a great time but were very disappointed that the bathrooms near the tent sites were closed for construction considering that was a selling point for us staying at your campground. The dog park is amazing - better than the kids playground. People were friendly. Would have been perfect if we didn’t have to hike so far up a hill to the bathrooms.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

we apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations. We are all looking forward to an updated bathroom in the tent area. We are in the foothills of the Appalachians, usually that's a good thing. Thanks for visiting.

We loved the natural setting and the space between sites. The bathrooms were fantastic!

We got in after hours, which made navigating difficult. The map and info was left on board (thank you!) But a recommendation would be to circle which cabin is ours. Went right by our cabin as we couldn't see antly identifiers.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We typically do prepare maps with sites circled. Sorry if we did not on your map. Some of our cabins are tucked away along the wood line. Your cabin is facing the woods and at the end of an intersection. We usually give specific oral instructions in person for that one.

Staff was pleasant and helpful. Only recommendation we have is on the campground brochure of the rules they add that guest are required to check in and pay a fee. Read the rules when we checked in and nothing mentioned that rule. We had our nephew and his wife visit and they were followed to our site and informed of this rule. Had we known we would have notified the office and paid ahead.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We try to cover all the basic rules upon check in. That information is usually explained in person. The rules do state 1 car per site. We are a private campground, I hope you'll appreciate that we want to know who belongs in our campground. Hopefully, you enjoyed your visit overall.

Awesome K9 camp! Great area to stay and be close to attractions. Friendly and helpful staff. Wish the laundry room was bigger with better machines.

Beautiful campground. Spotless bathrooms! Love the doggie park.
Mar 04, 2026
Stay was great! Staff was very helpful. My second time staying here. What makes this campground so special also MAY make it difficult for some of the new rvs to get to if they are towing close to their top rated weight. The entry road is very steep. There is much to tour close to the campground.

Very professional and courteous staff at check-in very quite and nice campground

Clean an in great shape. Late check in was a breeze!

This is a beautiful park we had a view of mountains. We only stayed one night because we were traveling but it is on our radar to come back to stay longer

Ideal overnite for us.

We only had a quick overnighter but it’s a very nice campground. Thanks !!!

Site#26 that was assigned was a very difficult site to back in. There were numerous open sites that could have been used. We would go back as the camp is very pleasant but would be sure to refuse sites at that portion of the facility.

Beautiful property. Clean, well maintained. Lovely hiking path in the surrounding woods. Staff was knowledgeable of the area and provided invaluable information to ensure we drove our rig around the area safely.

Lovely place to visit. Super friendly well maintained super clean and always quiet. The perfect place to be when you've got nowhere to be. Absolutely a top 5 KOA for us. Highly recommend it to everyone traveling on the east coast.

Stayed for one night traveling back home. Easy to get to. Hilly terrain. We didn't have any problems with our 26' travel trailer. Early in the season so the pool was not open yet. Others staying there were quite. Lots of cabins and tent sites on hill sides gives you your own spot even though they are close together. We highly recommend a near by BBQ restaurant, Thatcher's arbecue & Grill.

More beautiful & tucked away than I expected for a KOA! This is a gem and very conveniently close to Lookout Mountain attractions such as Rock City Gardens (highly recommend). The shower house is extremely comfortable and clean. Seems very new! The room I happened to choose had a weird layout with the sink and mirror but after looking into the other empty ones I think it's the only one like that (pictured). Awesome kids play areas (my 5 and 8 year old especially loved the bounce bubble!) and even outdoor bowling! My daughter was thrilled to find a few green anoles among the natural landscape nearby. My only critique is that even though they don't have pre-assigned spots the said they couldn't put us and our friends on adjacent spots… even though no one was on the spot next to us. Haha Small potatoes and still a phenomenal location. We'll be traveling through this area in Jan. and my husband and I agreed we'd go out of our way to stay here again.

This campground is exceptional! You continuously see staff out working around the campground to keep it nice for the visitors. They have a wonderful playground for the kiddos and a very nice canine area for the dogs. You will see a touch of humor when you read the KOA signs and see the little twist of words. The bathrooms are very clean and each has a handicap seat. The showers have a full size locking door. Some rooms have a sink and toilet only, while others have the sink, toilet and shower combo. Quiet and laidback you will thoroughly enjoy your time here. Chattanooga is still close enough for dinner, shopping and sightseeing.

We loved the rustic, semi-private, walled-in sites. Lots of shade and very quiet. The showers could a shelf on the stalls, though. There was no place to rest soap and shampoo. Otherwise, the water was hot, the staff polite, and the amenities super clean.
