Tent Reviews

Our stay was fine. Disappointing, of course, that the big slide is closing. Also disappointing that the Red Pine Grill and Ice Cream was not open on Sunday OR Monday. What did we actually do? Played on the playground, went swimming, bounced on the bouncy pillow, and did some mini-golf. Good enough for a 6 and 7 year old but I don’t know for how much longer those things will keep their interest.

10 pm dance party is way to loud and that is too late for music while tent camping

It was well maintained and they have lots of fun items for whole families.

bathrooms were broken but otherwise great stay.

The bathrooms were down the whole stay we had to use ports potties without and compensation for that. Everything costs extra money. The bathrooms and showers were disgusting and always dirty. Empty soap dispensers in the bathrooms after the “cleaners” left. Website didn’t mention extra cost for slide. Playground was unimpressive compared to photos.

This was our 13th annual trip. The grandkids love it every year. Having porta potties instead of bathrooms was a bummer. We still miss all the Saturday games in the field, and it gets more expensive to pay for everything while we’re there. BUT the grands were happy.

Loved the location and the scenery-- but tent sites with no electric makes it hard for people that have medical equipment-- We would've had a better stay if the bathrooms were working properly and the people next to us respected the quiet times. Store was lacking in grocery supplies also in case people were needing anything.

Had a great time introducing my two young kids and my niece who was four to camping. The adults enjoyed it too!

My family and I have been camping at the Hayward KOA for years. This was the first year that I have ever been disappointed. The price of wood is unaffordable. The toilets weren't in working order. There were many broken things, playground equipment, corn hole boards. Our neighbors were very loud and disrespectful after quit time. I hope there are improvements made!

Very friendly staff. Great place to stay. Pool and playground and pillow pad was a blast

We were placed at a tent site that was basically under the waterside and adjacent to the freeway. When sitting at our fire, if the wind blew we would get misted with water from the slide. The pool was pretty much standing room only, and it wasn't even an extremely hot day. Growing up, it felt like a family-friendly place. Now, it feels like an over-crowded cash grab.

Cool place to stay. Bathrooms were far away from our tent and out of order so we had to use porta potty’s. Pool was small and full most of the weekend with no where to sit. Shower houses are outdated

People that worked there were great, way too crowded. Our cabin was really nice and clean.

everything was awesome except for quiet hours not being enforced. Other campers were extremely loud, drinking and partying until way past midnight.

The tent site was very nice with grass, flat and lovely annuals in planters. Bathrooms and swimming pool were clean. Loved the pool and mini golf was fun. Yapping dogs in RV's were annoying when owners were gone and left them alone for hours. Nearby RV had strings of bright lights on 24/7 that spread out to our tent site ruining the outdoor camping effect and looking more like the city at night.

A lot for kids to do. But when your bathrooms don’t work it makes camping with a toddler more difficult especially at night. Also consider ending loud music before 10. Pool doesn’t seem heated either.

Our stay was great!!! Actually, we travelled next to the KOA ”journey” in Wetmore/Munising, Michigan… and to say it best, it is a COMPLETE night and day difference. I have always enjoyed KOA, but was surprised at Wetmore. Hayward is PERFECT. We have 3 kids ages 11, 13 & 15 and each of them has something to do and didn’t complain once. Staff was friends, Tabby was SUPER helpful as was Glend

The staff are amazing. The activities for kids and the number of families there was huge!! We are older and enjoyed watching the kids have so much fun. And what always surprises me is how quiet it gets in the campground after 10pm EVERY NIGHT

The sites are so small there is barely any parking. We had to park on one of the "streets" between rows of sites. Good thing we didn't bring a second vehicle. I know it's pet friendly but dogs being allowed to bark from 6am to midnight is too much. Plenty of staff was going around to notice the excessive barking by two particular dogs and NOTHING was done.

Camp ground very nice, level site. Well cleaned and lots of trees for shade.

Great KOA SITE! BUT The only thing that was an issue was a group of campers were playing their music so loud that you could hear it throughout the whole camp site. Their music was explicit singing about body parts, sex, and vulgar words. Many complaints were brought to the staff. This happened multiple times with this group and it took a while for security to respond.

the main restroom/showers ended up being closed two of the 4 day stay- was frustrating there wasn't another option besides walking across the campground to the other facility. Otherwise IT WAS AN AWESOME PLACE!!! my kids had a blast.

We stayed at a deluxe tent site for 2 nights after labor day. It is a great place for a family with kids. Has a big playground, mini golf, and a jumping pillow, plus a few more things. Had flushable toilets and showers. Looking forward to staying there during the summer to is the pool and water slides.

It was so fun to be surprised about the Halloween theme weekend! Employees were polite, helpful, patient, and all about making it a fun time for the kids. We were with new campers and they were treated with kindness and help with a lightbulb that needed replacing on their electric tent site.

My 4 and 6 year old loved the pool, jumping pillow, big slide, playground, and mini golf - pretty much all of it! Every staff we talked to was kind and helpful. All around great experience.

We love it here!! We will be back!

Tent sites are extremely small with barely room for a tent. You could reach out and touch your neighbors. No parking space and very difficult to maneuver a car. Staff was very friendly and the bathrooms were clean and well supplied. Not my kind of camping but probably good for little kids.

Space was great, staff was excellent! The kids loved the activities! It does need more bathrooms though, it was always the longest line to shower in the morning.

We enjoyed our stay there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only issue we had really was the the camp sights were so close together that our neighbor smoked us out with their campfire.

Very friendly, Very helpful ,Very clean place...Very nice people

Cloudy and wet, nothing you can do about that.

It was our first-time camping at a KOA. So, it was a treat, the kids and grandkids loved it! Even our dogs enjoyed the dog park. We all took advantage of the amenities of the camp store, what an asset! My only suggestion would be a designated area for dogs by the pool and playground. I was at the campsite with the dogs and not able to watch the grandkids in these areas. But planning for next yr.

What a great place to stay for vacation! Will definitely be back. They kept the bathrooms clean, all amenities were well taken care of!

This is one of our favorite KOA's. They are in the works to do some upgrades with plans to put in a splash pad. You can go tubing down the river (highly recommend). There is a pool, which does tend to get a little over packed. On site pizza and ice cream which is yummy. Always clean & family friendly. Lots to do on the area.

There is a lot to say for this campground. After reading reviews, I was leary. I was camping with friends in an RV. I see that some reviews mention the pool and that is was dirty. Do people understand that that when kids jump in the big pillow, their feet are covered in sand? Would you go to the ocean and say it's too salty? The camp sites are close together. They have been that way since this campground was built. So for those that keep returning and complaining about that, do you actually think that will change? I also see that people feel that it's run down. I do see that the bathhouse could use a remodel but it didn't smell and it wasn't bad. I stayed in an RV, So I didn't need the facility. I know that last year that bath house didn't even function and there were Porta potties. The decline is something that begins to happen years in the making. I spoke to the manager and he explained in great detail the struggle that he has had to overcome since the previous managers Brian and Cathy's time here. The slide should have been taken down years ago. The safety of the slide is the issue. And if that's why people come camping, maybe go to the Dells and ride all the waterslides. This is a campground. And an independently owned KOA. The manager also explained that you need people that want to work. They have 2 housekeepers that are there on a consistent basis, one maintenance guy and a couple kids in the cafe. If people don't want to work, how can you expect the ritz experience in a campground. I only write this review because I believe the manager and staff are being portrayed in a bad light. I spoke with Travis for a good while on the issues that people complain about. He was very professional and thoroughly explained the situation. This campground has had years of shoddy work and badaids for repairs. That only lasts so long. The prices in the cafe are decent. You will pay the same or more for a family at McDonald's and the Cafe food is good and made to order. People that keep returning to complain, why return? Those people will never be satisfied. Before making an uneducated review, talk to the manager. You will walk away with a better understanding. I will return with my family and friends. It's a beautiful area.
