This park has gone downhill since new owners and management took over. After 20 plus years of staying here we will not be returning. It’s sad that Travis cannot be trusted and has ruined what was once our favorite campground. We were lied to about tubing. Other amenities were either non existent or not up to past standards. Travis doesn’t care about guests or maintaining the standards of KOA.

We have been camping at Hayward for years and years and nothing has been updated. I know it’s not a five star hotel but more attention to the small details would be appreciated !

Waterside is down, red pine Cafe is closed monday and Tuesday, almost half the bathrooms are broken and not clean. Why have amenities if they wont open them to paying customers(the red pine) and invest some money into the place to make it look nice again. Been the same for almost 30 years.

We have stayed at this campground for the last five years. This year it was very rundown. I don’t think that it was at KOA standards. The pool was very dirty and the pool deck needed a real good sweep, and needed the weeds pulled. The bathrooms needed to be cleaned, the waterslide was not open and did not have water in the basin. The shelves in the store where empty and food place was Closed.

Was promised 3 campsites near each other 3 months in advance but when we arrived that was not the case. The assistant manager didn’t apologize nor offer any solution. The big water slide was closed due to disrepair. Many tent sites had more than 1 tent but I had to pay for 1 site per tent. Called to resolve issue after our stay but manager never called back, hence this bad review.

There does not seem to be the KOA pride at this location. The bathrooms were dirty and muddy, so showering was a very unpleasant experience. The grounds were all dirt, not ground cover, flowers, grass, etc. Of course, this contributes to the mud problem, but also the huge dust problem. Too many people with too many campfires, had to leave early as I was having respiratory issues.

Very disappointed. Our family campout has been with you for years and now we’ve decided to move. No slide, no tubing, no game room. In general, the park is not clean and in disrepair.

We found the water slide closed, arcade removed, as well as pool table/air hockey removed from the pavilion. We hope next year the new splash pad will be up replacing the water slide, as well as some other additions to replace what is no longer. Also, only one shower in the whole campground was working.

Things have changed since our stay last year. The showers by the main lodge do not work, the bathrooms are not cleaned daily (sinks/floors) the red pine was barely open and when it was the coffee was very watery and the chicken strips were cold, the water slide is no longer open (closed permanently) the arcade is gone and so are the games under the pavilion. The staff was very friendly and helpful! There were a lot of amenities but the pool and area were not well maintained. The sites are incredibly close together-and people did not abide by the quiet times.

The employees on golf carts drive way too fast through the campground. The showers are disgusting. They were not cleaned or sanitized at all during our stay. The sites are too close to one another, and the parking is terrible. We couldn’t get pizza on Saturday, as we were told that hot food wasn’t available that day.

Was disappointed to book 2 campsites on the same booking and we were spread out and then the cabin was across the campground. Makes things difficult with kids. Spaces are tiny if you have a camper. Luckily the surrounding spaces were open when we arrived so we could back in using other sites and had to wait for the camper in front of us to leave before we could leave. Great time but site 34 only has 50 amp on the wrong side of the site so had to share picnic area with next site the water slide was broken no access to canoe and tubing and we were not told until arrived

We came for the Musky Fest and enjoyed the KOA. I would have liked better WiFi but we weren’t there for the internet. You may have to look into cutting a few of the pine trees since several of us had a hard time with longer campers getting out of our site. I don’t like to see the big pines cut but I will have to think twice about staying here unless the sites are made wider and easier to exit

Everything seemed a little less taken care of than the last time we had been there two years ago. Bathrooms were always dirty, weeds were everywhere instead of flowers, slide is closed, no arcade games. We would look at other campsites before rebooking at the KOA for the price.

Honestly it could have been better. The paid premium WiFi was terrible. The showers were filthy. The employees were hostile and entertaining themselves by driving around fast in carts. It was muddy: most KOAs we’ve stayed at have some kind of ground cover. The campsites are too close together compared to other KOAs, so on a busy weekend it’s not really camping; it’s just a smoky parking lot.

Here is the great - Heated Pool, Bouncing Pillow, and availability of units. Here are a couple of things to consider: absolutely packed on the weekend, and the sites are very close to each other; very empty on weekdays, though some amenities are closed. The general store is not what it once was, but you can get some things.

Great place for no more than three days. Almost too many trees navigate around with larger rigs. Need more grassy areas for small dogs, too much sand.

We started staying at this campground several years ago. The owners back then took pride in their campground by having friendly convenient service and they maintained the grounds at the highest standards. Now it is rundown after several different owners. It is sad. We will be looking for a different campground next year.

We've been coming for 5 years. This year there was a broken waterside, no arcade, no river tubing option, and the restroom cleanliness and quality have decreased.

Really disappointed that there no longer is a water slide, arcade or tubing. The bathrooms were very dirty and unstocked with TP. The landscaping was very sad this year as the canoes usually are planted with flowers and this year it was all weeds. Unimpressed with the amount of ice cream you get for the money you pay for it at the store. Overall, it seems like they are going downhill!

The campsites are very tight for large campers and the vehicle needed to pull them. The neighbors fire is literally outside your window. The pool gets disgusting with all the dirt, and people. Maintenance doesn't seem to happen throughout the day. Bathrooms and showers were clean and acceptable. Close to town, which was nice.

Great for kids. Pretty quiet considering how close the sites are together. Pool is always packed. Shower house and bathrooms pretty clean. Definitely “city camping” or glamping.

Place is a mud hole during and after rain. All roads and sites are in desperate need of fill and grading. Puddles (small ponds) on the roads and sites two days after rain.

Not the quality or sites we have come to expect from KOA. Premium site was tight and flooded when checking in. Fire pit was awkward and so deep it was hard to build a fire. Waterside advertised looked broken down and not open. I will look elsewhere when in the area in the future unfortunately.

It was an amazing stay. I wish the water slide would have been open or a discount was given for the fact that it was not. We got an email two days before our stay saying it would be closed for updating.

We are a seniors and came in on a Tuesday. Our first camping adventure (new RV) everyone was very friendly and helpful. The people in the office gave us advice since we are new to this, it was peaceful and beautiful. We will be back.

I was surprised to learn after arriving that the slide and tubing were not an option. For years we usually stay 3-4 times a year with various friends. We always love seeing Brooke and George. Brooke is so helpful and friendly with my kids! I was sad to hear George isn’t there daily this year he takes pride in the work. We enjoy coming back each year to the same friendly workers.

The campground was only about 10% full, yet we we were assigned a site right next to 3 other campers. Why couldn't the campground spread us out. There were plenty of other same type of site options. There was also a site that had two tents and tons of random stuff scattered about their site i.e.several houseplants, luggage, blankets, etc. Why weren't they required to pick up their site?

It was a good time. Where we were camped with our friends works great! We had 8 units camping together. We made reservations again for next year. Travis can you please remember to remove the dead tree in site 406 please.

I have been coming here straight for over 10 years. First year I have seen a campsite with homeless people having stuff scattered over 2 sites. And it was out front of registration. The kids arcade is gone as well as the water slide. Was told the arcade is now additional office space and the water slide is being torn down for a new water feature but as of June 8th not now bit of construction. Sad.

It was very unkept, overgrown and looked rundown. Pool needed cleaning. Staff rode around on golf carts all day rather than actually doing any work or maintenance. The place was vacant,clearly other campers are not impressed either. There was a decomposing animal in the playground. And the themed weekend made fun of special needs people and suggested beer pong for family event. Not worth it.

The grass and weeds around the campground was not cut, too tall helps keep the ticks on the sites ,should be mowed more frequently I don't think they were mowed at all yet this season.

This KOA was very good and we didn't lack anything it all. The staff was very friendly and attentive to campers needs. That said, the infrastructure / amenities in this campground need attention and appear to need some additional reinvestment as many areas were looking a bit tired.

This is one of our favorite KOA's. They are in the works to do some upgrades with plans to put in a splash pad. You can go tubing down the river (highly recommend). There is a pool, which does tend to get a little over packed. On site pizza and ice cream which is yummy. Always clean & family friendly. Lots to do on the area.

There is a lot to say for this campground. After reading reviews, I was leary. I was camping with friends in an RV. I see that some reviews mention the pool and that is was dirty. Do people understand that that when kids jump in the big pillow, their feet are covered in sand? Would you go to the ocean and say it's too salty? The camp sites are close together. They have been that way since this campground was built. So for those that keep returning and complaining about that, do you actually think that will change? I also see that people feel that it's run down. I do see that the bathhouse could use a remodel but it didn't smell and it wasn't bad. I stayed in an RV, So I didn't need the facility. I know that last year that bath house didn't even function and there were Porta potties. The decline is something that begins to happen years in the making. I spoke to the manager and he explained in great detail the struggle that he has had to overcome since the previous managers Brian and Cathy's time here. The slide should have been taken down years ago. The safety of the slide is the issue. And if that's why people come camping, maybe go to the Dells and ride all the waterslides. This is a campground. And an independently owned KOA. The manager also explained that you need people that want to work. They have 2 housekeepers that are there on a consistent basis, one maintenance guy and a couple kids in the cafe. If people don't want to work, how can you expect the ritz experience in a campground. I only write this review because I believe the manager and staff are being portrayed in a bad light. I spoke with Travis for a good while on the issues that people complain about. He was very professional and thoroughly explained the situation. This campground has had years of shoddy work and badaids for repairs. That only lasts so long. The prices in the cafe are decent. You will pay the same or more for a family at McDonald's and the Cafe food is good and made to order. People that keep returning to complain, why return? Those people will never be satisfied. Before making an uneducated review, talk to the manager. You will walk away with a better understanding. I will return with my family and friends. It's a beautiful area.
