Called before our trip to verify that the hot tub was working. We drove 6 1/2 hours and found the hot tub was broken and waiting for parts. They straight out lied to us and other couples who had been there for a week before us. Even while there they said it was working because the water was warm. No jets!!! Also the bathrooms and showers were filthy.

We stayed in cabin 512. There were 6 of us in the cabin. My girlfriend and her husband, myself and my husband and both our sons were able to get leave from US Army and US Navy and spend the time with us on the beach!!! It was PERFECT!!

Everything was perfect! The cabin, the grounds, the beach, the area amenities, the pool, the general store on-site, even the new cafe! Being here literally made us buy our camper! Can’t wait to bring it next time!

Everything was great activities for the kids were very well planned. Only negative was bathhouses looked like they were worn out: loose faucets coming off the walls, soap dispensers hanging open. (personally some sort of matt for shower areas that allows water/dirt/sand to flow thru but you can walk on without getting bottom of feet gritty). The staff is great. The campground is great. What makes it special though is you go over a sand dune that is maybe 20 feet high & you are on the Atlantic Ocean. For many Octobers my wife, our dog, & I have camped here & honestly we love it. My wife & I have camped at KOAs all over America & most are nice, some are special, but the position of this one has us coming back year after year.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH.They would not let us check in early even though I offered to pay early check-in fee & even extra night stay. Our site was vacant as of 7:30 the morning we arrived so there was no reason why we shouldn't have been allowed to check in.WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.GREAT CAMPGROUNDS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF THIS LOCATION. DO NOT STAY HERE

It is well maintained, loved the family bathroom and easy access to the beach. Wished there was a live band every night.

Great place; beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Sites are good size, shade shelters really helped. Watch out for spurs in the grass, had to check my dog constantly, but I understand it’s part of the landscape of the area.

Great stay one thing the shop in conditioner in the shower in room 303 in the main building needs to be fixed because it leaks all over the shower

It was a great week. Weather was perfect and the KOA was enjoyable as always. My front light was out, they sent someone to fix it asap. And I blew a fuse one night, they sent someone to fix when I notified them the next morning. So helpful. Thanks for a great stay! Love this KOA!!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Grounds were well taken care off. Our site was a few steps from the beach! Fantastic!! Yes, you're piled one on top of each other and not a lot of privacy, but you're in the Outer Banks! We were hardly at our site. We were out exploring! We plan on staying here again!

WiFi was very weak ( unusual for a koa and the park was not close to full) One of the laundry was closed and the other crowded. But the staff was awesome and the place was clean and safe. I travel a good bit of the year for my business and for fun and stay at this koa at least two trips a year. At the resort level this park is not up to par with some of the others but still one of my favorites

This is a beautiful KOA. Very clean and quite. Feels safe and secure too. It's out in the middle of nowhere and really close to the nature park reserve (highly recommend a visit there and to take the nature tour) but the downside is the beach's waves are way too strong and there's too many rip currents to safely swim in the ocean here. It's great for fishing and for walks on the beach though.

Vacation Suite was perfect for us. Loved being so close to the store, playground and pool area. While it was a bit to chilly to use the pool, it was still beautiful to sit beside it and enjoy the sunshine! Staff was awesome, facilities were clean and we can't wait to return!

Employees were awesome. We enjoyed the events. However I have been coming here for years and they have not kept up with maintenance. Particularly the gazebo, trash and filthy steps leading up to it

Bathroom near beach not well maintained. As travelers that do not have self contained unit this is high on list of importance. The rest of facility was well maintained.

Our first time staying here in one of the vacation suites. It was awesome! Amazing place and the price is unbeatable. This place had so much to offer from pool, hot tub, game room, live music, cafe, store. Just an overall wonderful first experience staying at the OBX KOA. Definitely booking again here for next year.

We had an amazing time. The events they had for the kids were incredible. They really went above and beyond to make the trip special for my kids. They also loved the new playground. Huge improvement from our visit last year. We will be back every year for my daughter birthday right before Halloween. Everyone at the front desk was also super friendly and helpful.

We’ll be back. Lovely campground location and we had a site right against the dunes. The sound of breaking waves lulled us into sleep. The management and the staff were super helpful. FYI - no biggie - but the water pressure seemed to fluctuate

Very nice. Clean. Lovely location by beach. The only complaint is that we were right next to friends that were camping and we were moved without any notice. Also would have liked to have a table with shade cover.

Thank you for a great visit to the the Cape Hatteras KOA. There is so much to do for all ages! Friendly staff who go out of their way makes this one of our favorite campgrounds!!!

We have been here many times, both in and off season, and of course the location is top notch and very friendly KOA staff as always. Amenities and activities can be excellent for families. Really like the new text alerts for activities and important updates on the very large, beautiful grounds. However, unfortunately our most recent visit (April 2024) had a few issues. Even though we understand its the off season and it's a relatively remote location, the facilities could really use some updates and upgrades. Hot tub broken, no WIFI and only two cable channels, no lights at volleyball, beach showers by dunes broken and rusted handles. Hope for improvements in the future, as we would still like to return!

First off I would recommend this KOA to all, I see some of the bad reviews and totally disagree. The spots are very level, the staff is caring and amazing, the bath houses are super clean, the beach area is awesome, the sunsets ( waking distance) across the street are to die for and the wifi actually does work but don't expect high speed, use your own hotspot. This KOA is very centrally located and within driving distance to all of the outer banks attractions. Thank you KOA staff for making our visit amazing and our pups also thank you for the very nice large dog parks, woof.
