Great swimming pool, lots of activities. Missing a dish washing area

I've been traveling to multiple KOA's over the past few years trying to find our favorite one. We always tent camp with no hookups and aim to enjoy nature in a peaceful environment. Unfortunately there was no peace here. Tent sites were stacked on top of each other. Neighbors blared music, got wasted, and spent nights vomiting loudly. Firepits in bad condition.Good amenities. Won't tent here again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. Memorial Day weekend is one of our busiest weekends of the season and typically brings a more active atmosphere than quieter periods. We’re sorry your experience did not meet expectations and appreciate your response.

The "fish pond" is a massive disappointment. It's a green swamp. I'd be so disappointed if that's all we came for. It really needs an overhaul or strong water treatment.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

With the lack of rainfall our fish pond is in need. It has a natural flow to it and without rain the flow stops, we have added significant aeration to help the pond along as well as several breeds of fish that enjoy algae. Thru the season campers dont always Release what they catch.

The premium tent sites were great. I loved that they backed up to a large grassy area.

Very good

We had a great time! Trash pickup was convenient along with having firewood dropped off. The kids loved all the playgrounds, beach, and pool. We are already planning to come back! This was a very active KOA with even a DJ and bingo. It is not the serene wilderness atmosphere type campsite. My only complaint was that the tent spaces were very close, but luckily our neighbors were very friendly.

This was our first stay at Hogback, and our first KOA since the 1990s! The campground was clean and green. The bathroom/shower facilities were kept clean and cool. We were in the deluxe tent site area and the platform was big enough (just barely) and surrounded by greens and close to the bathroom/shower facility. The staff we met were all friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

Way too expensive for tent camping. Site was nice and clean, but very close to a busy highway so we heard trucks barreling down the road all night. We have friends that stay for the season so we camped here to visit with them. We stayed for 2 hours past our check out time and they changed us an additional $10 per adult to stay. The pool and lake are lovely but will only return to visit our friend

The campground is nice. Our tent site was pretty nice. The bathrooms are horrible. Only bring cleaned once a day is not enough. Specially the ones by the pavilion.

We enjoyed the amenities of the campground. We had a tent camp site. It was tight and not a lot of space between the sites with others. It was on a hill so only one spot to put our tent up which was right by the campfire. The pool was our favorite, it was clean (recommend pool shoes as the bottom is rough and scraps toes). Bathrooms were clean. Activities planned were fun! We will be back!

It was very hot and our check out was at 11am. I was hoping to get more pool time and was already in the 70's at 8 am. But, the pool man told me the pool would not open till 10:10 am. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you, Sherrie Grant.

Great experience

Deluxe campsites are covered in ant hills. I get we are out in nature, but I’ve never had that experience anywhere else. The newly renovated bathrooms had issues with toilets not flushing and were much too hot. Pool was lovely, but needs more shaded seating. It would've been helpful if at checkin staff could communicate the schedule for the time your staying/give a printed list for a 1st timer.

The bathrooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and my toddler really enjoyed the splash pad. However, the deluxe tent spots are right next to a cornhole tournament that KOA puts on and the music was BLASTING until 10:55. Something to keep in mind if you don’t want to feel like you’re at a concert or if you have little ones that don’t stay up that late.

The music was BLASTING until 1045 with my tent right there I wanted to be on 205 near my friend's but was told that spot was full all weekend. Which it wasnt

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We appreciate your feedback, your group had booked pull thru sites in the 300s section of the park, We offered to get you with them but noted you did not want to be on gravel. We wish you safe travels and hope to better meet your camping needs in the future.

The pool and lazy river was great. The bathrooms were clean. The lake was very mucky and a lot of algae, so we didn't swim. The camp site was horrible! We camped in a non electric tent site and I've never had a worse site. They shouldn't even have them available. The whole site is on a hill. Not ideal for a tent or anything for that matter. Would not tent camp here again.

My family rented a primitive site. Sites were close together and we ended up next to a large family that had a physical domestic issue occur and another who left their dogs alone in the tent most of the day. One dog escaped ended up in my tent. I placed the dog back into the correct tent and the dog began to attempt another escape. I made a complaint to the staff and got no resolution.

We stayed in a cabin over memorial weekend. Very impressed with all there was to do for the kids (even with crummy weather). Nice facilities!! our cabin was so spacious and VERY clean!! The activities were so fun. Everyone we ran into was so welcoming including all the staff!! We really appreciated feeling at home for the weekend! Definitely plan to be back to enjoy with warmer weather!! If you have kids/teenagers this place is a must!!!

We come here a couple times every year with family. Has a ton of stuff to do for kids, including lake with beach, lazy river and pool, jumping pads and a couple of playground, fishing peers etc. We love it here!

PROS: Looking for a great spot for kids to have a blast during the day? This is THE place. My son is almost nine and he loved the pool with lazy river, the activities (golf cart candy parade and tie dye) and just biking and hanging out with neighbor kids. There are so many wonderful choices for children and I value that! I found the bathrooms to be fairly clean for the amount of people camping on this weekend. CONS: The site we were given (733) was an actual nightmare to park our rig on. Backing in, even for someone skilled, was horrible. There were bricks in the road (to prevent water ponding) and it popped our tire. There was not a way around them backing into the site. We were not given an alternative site and that was infuriating. Do NOT choose site 733 if you want to start your weekend off peacefully. The lady at the front that checked us in even jokingly said “geez I hope you don't get stuck trying to get into that spot” but I had no clue what she meant until we saw the spot. What a shame. The second con is the noise. Many of the sites are seasonal and the guests have golf carts. It makes walking around, especially with littles on bikes, not only unnerving but downright dangerous. With that said, they cruise around, music blasted, until quiet hours which begin at 11pm. With an exhausted kiddo at 9pm, the noise can be a lot. It's too much truthfully. If you're hoping for a little bit of peace, you'll be sad here. If you love a good ruckus and have kids up super late-this is your dream spot. Again, don't choose site 733 though. You've been warned. 🙃
