Campground Reviews

5 stars! Angola Hogback Lake KOA is one of the best family campgrounds in Indiana. The campground is clean, the cabin was amazing, and there are nonstop activities for kids and adults all weekend long. The fishing tournament, pool, lake, and cornhole tournament made our trip unforgettable. Management and staff were friendly, visible, and worked hard to keep everything running smoothly and safe.

The campground overall was quiet and clean. The pool area was nice. Just wish the fishing pond was a little less mossy and there was a storm shelter. Overall we had a good time.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We’re glad you enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and pool area. Pond conditions can vary throughout the season, and we appreciate the feedback. While we do not have a certified storm shelter, permanent buildings are available for refuge during severe weather. We’re happy you overall had a good time.

We stayed during Father's Day weekend 2026. the campsites are roomy, but the roads are very narrow. we didn't go to the beach, but they did have few blow up slides in the lake which looked like fun. There is a small pool with a lazy river there that the family enjoyed. It's a large campground which gets crowded in the main road to the beach. overall, it's a nice camp. Camp store well stocked.

We really enjoyed the stay! Lots of activities for the kids and spacious sites. Only suggestion would be additional garbage cans down by the lake.

We had a group of 5 camp spots and 25 people total. Everything went very smooth from check in to check out. The amenities we great and campers of all ages very much enjoyed the weekend. We will be back.

We were backed up to the fishing lake but it was very dirty - it needed to be cleaned. The fire pits could also you some metal grating for cooking on a camp fire.

Lots to do for kids, very congested but lovely space. Didn’t use the pool do to crowding. Convenient to many things to do in the area.

We had a really good first time. My kids loved the amenities like the pool, jumping pillow etc. We felt our spot (733) was nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads. I wish we realized how big the campground was because it was hard to get from our spot to the pool easily with kids and floaties especially because we don’t have a golf cart.

had reservations for a week. they put us on a site right next to a very busy highway with big trucks going all day and night. They have alot of seasonal campers most of which seemed to look down at the weekend campers. We have 2 dogs and I like to walk them several times aday, on my walks along the track there is so much trash on the ground.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. We understand highway noise may not be ideal for every camper, and we’re sorry it impacted your stay. Our team works hard to keep the grounds clean and welcoming for both weekend and seasonal guests, and we’ll address the litter concerns with staff.

We called added another day to our reservation and was told it was done. Not having great internet service while we where traveling through the mountains Arrived only to find out after 553 miles in a Motorhome it was never done and we had to take a site for 1 night to change to another site in the am. Not a big deal but we paid for a patio site . With this KOA patio means a old dirty picnic table.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We’re sorry for the reservation mix-up after such a long travel day. We’re glad we were able to accommodate your stay, even with the required site move. Our patio sites include refinished wood picnic tables, while our deluxe patio sites feature Polywood furniture. We appreciate the candid feedba

TV WIFI is horrible. NO cable. Storms and tornado warnings during our stay, with no tv connection, we had no idea how bad it was outside. That is biggest problem. NO tv left everyone wondering about danger from tornado sirens blaring twice. No safety info was provided as to where we could possibly go for shelter from a tornado . However staff is nice.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are sorry to hear you did not get the parks weather text messages, on your next we ask that you confirm your contact phone number. Our Wifi upgrade is expected to be complete this july, we look forward to providing great top of the line internet access to all of our campers.

Park is nice, bathroom/showers clean. Surprised the bathrooms were locked at the pool. Also very disappointed zero wifi. Was told maybe by July 4th.

people are often rude and store closes too early to be helpful. stove in cabin 902 does not consistently work and had to go out to Walmart late at night to buy our own. but- we keep coming back because we love the lazy river.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for continuing to visit us and for the kind words about the lazy river! We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the cabin stove and staff interactions. Cabin 902’s stove issue will be reviewed with maintenance, and we appreciate the honest feedback.

The pool and lazy river are excellent. Fire rings are too high you cannot enjoy the fire. They need more shower facilities. Had to drive to closest. Price shown on line not what you pay, only shows real rate after you confirm payment.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the pool and lazy river. Online rates are shown before taxes and fees, which are added at checkout just like most travel bookings. We appreciate the suggestions on fire rings and shower facilities and will continue working to improve the experienc

We were there during the storm, warnings came after the tornado, bathrooms were to full. I had rented a cabin, no power until Saturday at 3. No communication on activities being canceled, my grand children had decorated their golfcart. Been coming here for the past 5 years,

We were told numerous times everything was working and that there was no cable but not to worry we could stream on wifi. Either the staff doesn't know what is going on or lied to us. No wifi and we had to move to another lot because it was not even close to level. Will not be coming back!
Jun 19, 2026
The cabin was wonderfully cleaned, and inviting for not only our children but our dog as well. Pots and pans provided made for easy cooking, we had a wonderful time on the patio grilling out and were right beside the pool. The air conditioning was great at night.
Jun 18, 2026
Too much algae in the beach area. Kids are making algae bombs to throw to people. Not good.
Jun 18, 2026
The campground itself was nice. But the emplyee that was yelling and swearing at us was not ok it was very unprofessional. It was over going 8mph in a 5mph campground. I emailed the campground directly and it seems like they brushed it under the rug and did not even apologize for the way that the employee acted. There were many young children walking around as he was using f bombs towards us.

Regardless of the power outage, they tried so hard to make everything work! Eventually the power came on but overall was a wonderful stay. Lots of fun things to do and a fun place to hangout with family.

Despite the terrible storm on June 11th with resulting loss of power, we appreciated the communications regarding the duration of the outage and restoration.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We appreciate your feedback and understanding during the longest power outage we have experienced in over 5 years! We were happy to be able to keep the water on for the first time historically due to park improvements.

We have been visiting this campground once a year for over 17 years, long before it was a KOA. To be fair, this is a beautiful campground with plenty to do if you have children. Our problem is mostly management. This stay was bad. It started bad and never improved. We will not be returning. I have already shopped around for a different campground. We use this campground when visiting family.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We appreciate your feedback and understand you book the incorrect site online and we were not able to accommodate your site change request upon arrival. For the best booking experience and to find the perfect site we recommend calling the office to book.

The kids loved the “water wagon ride” and lazy river, the adults loved the lakefront view and live music. We hope to come back. Thank you also for the credit for our first evening due to the power outage - that was unexpected but most appreciated.
Jun 16, 2026
They helped us tremendously when our reservation for another KOA had to be cancelled due to extreme weather. Very grateful!!
Jun 15, 2026
I did not know they don’t have certified storm shelters at the campground until we got a text message to seek shelter which is terrifying. The tornado sirens went off at the campground about 20 minutes too late the big storm line had already hit then we got the text about bad weather. Glad no one was hurt but did not feel safe with the late warnings. Trees and branches came down causing damage.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The county-operated sirens didnt go off until the last moment. But as soon as they go off our system generates additional park instructions. Some providers do experience a delay on text messages due to towers and power being affected. We experienced the longest power outtage in the park in 5 years!

Great camp ground. Power was out due to a storm my night there. They were accommodating and offered a discount.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We appreciate the kind review while the park was without power, Staff did our best to maintain water and bath house operation through the recovery period. Longest power outtage for is in over 5 years!

Stay was nice, storms on Thursday night was a little concerning but nothing that KOA had control of.

Spent our first weekend at this KOA, and I must say it over met our expectations. Between the pool, parks, and all the activities there was something for everyone! Our daughter and nieces loved it so much they were begging to come back. This is one of the nicest KOAs (family campgrounds in general) we have been too. My wife and I highly recommend this KOA for families with children.

This is my second time there and I liked it. The only issue was that they did not have WIFI all the time and AT&T barely works there. I could barely call and only 1 of my group was able to get connected to the internet.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We expect our big Wi-Fi improvement to be completed july 4th weekend! Bringing streaming speeds to all corners of the park!

Great campground. Good amenities. Unfortunate that the weather turned bad and knocked out the electricity and water services.

It was no fault of yours that the storm came through and the power outage resulted. Our location was great since our desire was to be near the pool as much as possible.

We usually come to this KOA each June. Always have a great experience. Each year camp upgrades make this KOA better and better. A few years ago the lazy river, water floats in the lake and we see for 2026 installation of a new internet network!!! Their work on the network looks to be completed very soon. Camp is always kept well maintained and clean. Sites are level which makes setup a breeze.

Great place !

Beautiful campground. The lazy river is wonderful. My issues have to do with property management. The speed limit went unmonitored, allowing golf carts free range (one blaring irritating music, back and forth all night). The tent sites are awkwardly sandwiched next to RV sites, Again, the RV's were unmonitored, and one with bright lights on ALL night long kept me from enjoying the night sky.

I rented a cabin and someone stole my yeti cooler, the internet is horrible, we had to call about the sink because it wasn’t working. Not a pleasant stay for the price.

Staff was very friendly! Campground was clean. I wish there was a restroom closer to the beach. My son has digestive issues after a major surgery and he couldn’t enjoy the beach after almost not making it to the far away restrooms. We enjoyed the Battle of the Bands as well! I do think the store closes a little early for weekend nights. Other than that, perfect family trip!

We love KOA Hogback, we go back every year. So much to do for adults and children. My grandkids keep trying to get us to get a seasonal site just for them to swim in the lake. Staff is amazing, kind, friendly, and very accommodating.

Great KOA with clean facilities, friendly staff, and a well‑run campground. The only “problem” here isn't the campground — it's the handful of guests who think the rules don't apply to them. The staff does an excellent job keeping the park safe and enjoyable for everyone, and sometimes that means enforcing rules. Unfortunately, some people get upset when they're asked to follow them and leave one‑star reviews that don't reflect the actual experience. If you appreciate a campground that's organized, safe, and well‑maintained, this KOA is exactly what you want.
