Grilled Smash Burgers
Ingredients
- 3 brioche or sesame seed hamburger buns
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- 1 lb. ground beef
- Salt & pepper
- 6 slices American cheese
- Lettuce, onion & tomato
Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Dijon or yellow mustard
- 2 tsp sweet or dill pickle juice
- 1-2 tsp sriracha or other hot sauce, to taste
Directions
- Place oiled cast iron griddle on grill and preheat to medium-high.
- Butter buns and place on grill or flat top and cook until toasted. Remove from grill.
- Make sauce and set aside.
- Divide burger into six 2-ounce balls.
- Place burger balls onto hot grill and quickly smash each one until flattened.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes until a nice crispy crust forms on the bottom and tops are just beginning to appear cooked on the edges.
- Flip, using the spatula to scrape up all the crispy bits, and top each patty with cheese.
- Cook the other side for another minute until done.
- Layer lettuce, tomato, onions and two patties on the bottom of each bun. Spread sauce on top bun and place on top of patties.
