Campground Reviews

The only reason I didn’t rate a 5 star was when we got there, 1pm person in space prior had trailer, all their stuff out and truck on a jack. They even had spare underneath. Have had own issue where battery was dead or truck wouldn’t start & other campgrounds KOA, told us spot reserved & need to call tow. Guy got back at 4:30 we got into site around 5. Refunded $25 a little conflict w/offic

It’s nice there with plenty of room at the sites. I would like to see the cafe and bar open later on Fridays, Saturdays, and especially Sundays. I think they should invest in more water activities because if it is hot, there isn’t a lot to do to stay cool.

Enjoyed my stay. Stayed in the Chardonnay loop. Bathroom needs some work! Floor and walls need painting and the toilet was not bolted down.

Everything was great with the exception of the front guard shack. The older gentleman was extremely rude when my 17 year old son was coming to the campsite. We had a site available that had an extra spot for the second vehicle (his vehicle). My son called us to find out the site number which took less than one minute. He told my son that he needed to get out of his car and apologize to the other c

Was nice but wish pool was open due to that it was a hot weekend and can’t use lake to cool off either, also when booking a cabin we could have picked the spot like we did with campsite

Camp ground is well kept. And the recent upgrades are awesome! I stayed for a mountain bike race.

1st time out in the new area. Loved it! More quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms and showers were clean.

We love coming to the KOA and booked at the newly opened area in Arroyo Secco. My only issue was when checking in the associate did not inform me that the map was different even after I made a comment that we have never stayed over there and needed a map. My husband and I drove around for 45 minutes looking for the spot with no service. Luckily another camper came and showed us the new map.

The site we were at needs to be leveled very hard to stabilize the trailer due too the difference. Was very loud after quiet hours. Kids on e-bikes sitting in front of our site messing around. Love going to Vail lake just was not the best visit this time.

Great time - facility was great, entertainment was great, location was great, staff was great. Thanks!

You got History wrong! The adobe you have named Bunkhouse Bar is actually Mr., Vail's hunting cabin. The wood portion of the building, with the restrooms, was added my Kaiser when Butterfield Country RV Park was built. The larger adobe you use as a KOA-s office is the Bunkhouse that the cowboys staired in when Mr. Vail was on hunting trips.

This is a hidden gem! Lots of campsites, just book ahead. Great gift store, staff were so nice, great bar and cafe. Live music on Friday nights. Will definitely be back!!!

I was unaware that there was construction going on in the area that I booked my campsite. I also was unaware that there was absolutely no network connectivity and there was no Wi-Fi and there's no cable and there's no television over the air. It looks like it's going to be lovely when it's finished.

Very grateful that some campsites in Arroyo Seco were made available for the SoCal MTB races. The campsites were opened a little before they were ready but I am thankful that I was able to get a site. The new restrooms/showers are top notch. Arroyo Seco camping area will be awesome when finished.

We tent camped in an RV hook up spot in the Oaks loop. The loop had beautiful tall oak trees. The bathroom had flushing toilets, soap and paper towels but no mirrors. The showers had hot water with good pressure and hooks and shelves in the stall. So the bathroom was not glamorous but adequate, a step above a state park situation. The location was pretty and the “village” looked fun.

It’s always a good time at Vail Lake. The recent upgrades to campsites are nice! Thank you to all the employees for making our stay so much fun.

The campground was very well maintained and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed in one of newly renovated sites in the Arroyo loop. I wasn't crazy about the large rock used in the site but I am glad to see the improvements being made. The new bathroom facility is very nice. I hope there are plans to do the same across the entire campground.

We had a great experience! Clean, exciting, friendly (except for maybe the guy at the entrance) and fun! Thank you, we will be back again

Spent the weekend in a cabin for SOCAL Mountain Biking Event. Cabin was in a good location to walk to the event. Cabin was adequately stocked. We appreciated the option to purchase late check out. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Text responses were prompt and informative. We enjoy the firewood delivery service. The mini golf course could use a little TLC, but it was still fun.

Pretty expensive but really nice

The men's shower facilities at the Lower Merlot need to be fixed, otherwise great time!

It's a mix of old and new right now. The new cabins look great and some of the site with the hardscapes are nice but the new Arroyo site are underwhelming at best and the bathroom facilities in Chardonnay are very run down. Not sure what the investment strategy is but in my opinion it is not aligned for campers and RV'ers.

Just wish I was younger to use all this campgroung has to offer. Stayed is a patio site with a fireplace and enjoyed the stars. Amazing that being this close to Los Angles.

We had a great time over the holiday weekend. Easy in easy out, friendly service. How can we stay updated on the improvements? It’s looking good the pads that have been renovated.. hopefully it will continue. Will be back.

It’s always great time. We look forward to our stays.

Had a great time as usual! Staff is very kind and accommodating

Staff was super friendly and accommodating. It was raining and the bathrooms were located down a muddy hill so we asked to move. The bathroom was the worst bathroom I had ever seen in ANY campground. Showes had no hooks to hang towels and no bench to put clothes. No mirror? No heat. Not sure if walls had mold or just dirty. I didn't use the facility. I depend on KOA on consistent quality. Not this

Had a fun time as always. The store, restaurant and bar area with live music is a great place to hang out. Went over to the lake and caught a four pound bass. Very fun weekend.

Stayed here for my prop motocross race at Paula raceway and honestly no regrets. I heard fox shut off the water for privateers (I am a privateer) 🤣 so I am 100% glad I was smart enough to keep my main rig here. Temecula is beautiful and I'm glad I got a chance to explore. Temecula KOA at Vail Lake gave me and my team the opportunity to do this so thank you!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Vail Lake is one of my favorite places in the Temecula area to relax and unwind. The grounds are clean, well-maintained, and the overall environment is peaceful and welcoming. It always feels safe, making it a great place for families, couples, or anyone looking to enjoy some time outdoors. The property has a charming general store that is convenient and adds to the campground atmosphere. There is also a really cool ice cream shop that serves delicious treats along with a variety of food items, making it easy to grab a snack or meal without leaving the property. The bar is another great feature, offering a fun place to relax and enjoy a drink after a day of exploring. Whether you are camping, fishing, or simply looking for a quiet getaway, Vail Lake offers a clean, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice escape in the Temecula area.
