Campground Reviews

We have been coming to this campground for many years, and we love staying in the Chardonnay section. However, I'm very unhappy about the fact that you're improving all the areas of the campground except the Chardonnay. The road is almost undriveable, the power posts are so bad (and only 30 amps) that we have to use a bungee cord to hold the power plug in and the wifi is spotty.

Vail Lake KOA is continually improving and adding upgrades to its campground. So wonderful to visit each time. Very qui.et in the Chardonnay area midweek during February. Love the close proximity to Temecula Old Town and numerous wineries for day excursions. Anxious to book a patio campsite next time.

We stayed one night during a long road trip. Our site was up on the hill and we had a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. One critique, a visible sign for the office would be helpful. Lady at the gate directed us to the office, but we weren’t sure if the gift shop was the office. Also, the window tint made us think the gift shop was closed. Campground is great!

Stopped for one night on our way through. Excellent pull-through patio site! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Our Group has been coming to Vail Lake for about 6 years or so. Each time it has been a pleasure and Easy to get situated around each other when office staff understand and work with us. Still the power monuments up on Chardonnay are challenging at times. Staff that come by are always friendly and we miss the drink cart lady! Notified that the Arroyo was open but it was still blocked off??

Friendly staff, easy check in process and clean sites. I’ll be back!

Great campground. Wish they offered a kids playground and had jacuzzis. Also the putting golf course needs to be renovated.

WiFi not efficient at all didn’t matter time of day and or if is too many people or not, the kind of fire wood you sell is not good it doesn’t lite up and when it does turns off and a lot smoke comes out, when calling the office no answer leave messages and never call back that happens twice while we were there, some people with loud music

The best campsite ever.. love Vail lake

We come here every year with a group and we rent out the Rincon loop. The mountain bike trails are phenomenal. We also enjoyed having the golf cart.. but I do have a few recommendations: please repay the road around the grass field in Rincon. Please add 50 A hookup in Rincon loop.. please fix basketball hoop it's was crooked

I enjoyed my stay, but it is very hard to reach the facilities if you do not have a car. The cost for golf cart rentals is too high to be a viable option for a senior couple. I would recommend you impliment an on-demand shuttle service to transport campers to the store, cafe, bar, pool, etc. You would get more business and the campers would enjoy more of what you have to offer.

First time here, was super impressed with everything there is to do. Shaded everywhere you go, a great camp ground. Having restraint on sight was great, store was huge. Close ro downtown but far enough away for no traffic noise. Easy to see by both weekends we were there all the locals also love it no may out of state plates during the weekend. We will be back for sure.

Very beautiful, serene campgrounds. Staff were professional and had good customer service experiences with the staff. The only small issue is that some of the showers and bathrooms could use some updates. The mini-golf also need some new outdoor grass carpet. The store, restaurant and bar were a big bonus and very enjoyable. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back. Our favorite KOA so far

1st time at Temecula KOA, last stop of a 21 day trip. Although this was at the end of our trip, after having stayed here we will make it a destination stop in the future. Our disappointment was we wanted to reserve the same sites for the same time in 2027 and were told Feb 20027 reservation are not available at this time.

The facility is wonderful. We stayed in a cabin and had a few issues. The dishwasher wasn't emptied, a used coffee pod was left in the coffeemaker, and the TV in the living room required a pin. Someone came to fix it and updated Roku but it never worked. The ice maker also didn't work so we had to buy ice. We were in RC01.

Beautiful facility and only about ten other campers there so very quiet with the exception of being put in a site next to a camper with three dogs. The dogs were always outside in their fenced yard but every time we stepped out of our RV or car, we were met with barking and it definitely takes away from the beauty and tranquility of your campground. Nice people working at this clean park.

Plan to return next year

Overpriced. If I’d paid $15 it would have been fine. I’ve come to expect much more from a Koa. Admittedly this is the first time I’ve tent camped at a KOA, previously I’ve been in my Roadtrek. The bathrooms were mostly clean but very dingy, old and cold. It took a long time to get hot water. The tent camp felt like the low rent district, which I guess it is. But I didn’t get my money

We stay here as a group a couple of times a year and we love it! There's lots to do and so many different areas to camp in. We have our favorites in different areas. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

We had a fantastic experience and are actually kind of bummed we didn’t get to explore the grounds more. The staff is great, the grounds were clean, the cabins were awesome, the family activities were amazing. We have already recommend this KOA to friends and family, and plan on returning ourselves.

First time at a KOA and was blown away by everything! So much to do, band, activities, etc. som many campsites to choose from. Everything was kept so nice and clean.

It was disappointing that only one of the women’s out of three in the Merlot section.

A very quiet and peaceful stay, excited for next time!

Nice place, several improvement underway.

Great location, tons of activities. The roads are in horrible condition. Not safe for all the kids riding bikes and not suitable for trucks pulling trailers.

Very clean and peaceful campground

We had the best time!
Feb 02, 2026
The campground was clean and obviously well-maintained. I was disappointed that it was so crowded. My site was int he sun, so I walked around looking for a shady spot to read my book. Although there were plenty of pleasant shady areas near the creekbed or the grassy field, there were no benches or comfortable chairs to enjoy them. I will not be staying here again.

we camped during the middle of the week, We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet! not as many campers and the ones that were there were very friendly, spent time riding our E-bikes and felt very comfortable riding on the wide asphalt trails. It was a pleasure to wake in the morning and take in the beautiful scenery!

The campground is nice and scenic. The bathrooms are rustic.

I like this location but unfortunately there are several campsites blaring loud music all day and night that is so loud you can hear it from a whole campground away. Adults and kids are zooming around on golfcarts and bike also blasting loud music. the campsite next to me partied all night and at one point a pretty intoxicated guy was yelling loudly and starting a fight with another person.

Great place to stay. Convenient to shopping. Huge place with tons of trails. Definitely will stay again.
Jan 28, 2026
Stayed 4 nights. Campground was always kept clean. Staff was nice. Saturday night was a little loud with kids cruising around in golf carts blasting music after quiet hours. We will be back for sure.

The Lower Merlot is the tenement yard of the KOA franchise. It has an 18th century bathroom that Beethoven utilized.

Temecula KOA at Vail Lake is a massive RV resort with various campgrounds. The entire resort alone provides so much area to get a good walking, jogging and cycling workout. We got a good spot and, therefore, enjoyed the views, fresh air and clean atmosphere. There are lots of trees and grassy fields here, unlike RV parks that look like parking lots. It's also just a short drive away from the wineries. If you like to drink wine but don't have a designated driver, just hire an Uber or Lyft.
