Tent Reviews

My review is only based on the tent camping spots. Worst tent spots I have ever experienced. We ended up not staying because of this. Paid for 3 nights not knowing what we were getting in to. Do not recommend for tent camping at all. If you want to see how a tent spot is supposed to be set up, go visit the KOA in Valdez. It was all about how many they could pack in and no quality in Seward.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We do want to thank you for staying with us and we really hope that our view and park did make up for our tent sites.

Great amenities, very clean facility. The gift shop also had everything you could need and more, very nice staff as well. My only complaint is the location next to a dog shelter. At random times between 12am-9am a group of them will howl for 5-10 minutes straight. I noticed a lot of tent campers like ourselves wake up from it. More space for tent campers would be nice but everything else was great

We want to thank you for your stay with us and our Alaska Iditarod do spook easy and if any bird or squeal goes in there yard they will all howl. We do hope the view from our camp ground made your trip worth it.

It is a great location and clean bathroom. It is loud noise from the dog barking early in the morning though. My family and I are not a morning person.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your stay, and our Alaska Iditarod dogs next door love to be most vocal in the morning. But we hope you do stay with us again.

The ladies at the front were soo accommodating! The location is close enough to town and far enough away to enjoy the scenery.

This is my third time at this KOA and they continue to provide an excellent facility. AMAZING staff, incredibly clean, and family friendly. The main lodge provides a selection of gifts options, a great selection of supplies you would need camping, and most importantly specialized coffee! Keep up the good work Seward KOA!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you so much for your stay at our Family friendly KOA. We do our best to keep everyone extremely happy, and want this to feel like your around your family. The staff at the KOA thank you for your kind words.

My husband and I love it so much. It had pretty much everything even the little things that we I forgot to bring it on the trip. We are looking forward to our next time.

Super friendly, clean facilities, and spaced out nicely. Definitely liked the play area for my kids. For those with a 10 person tent, the tent spaces may be just a foot too small, but it works just fine. My 4 kids and I enjoyed our stay and will be going back again!

This is a clean family friendly campground that never disappoints. It is always fun to watch the eagles and be close to the EXIT glacier. The owners are always helpful. We would highly recommend this campground!

Our GPS took us straight to this campground just before Seward on Glacier Road. Check-in was quick and easy, and we headed to Deluxe Patio FHU Site 14 with 50 AMP. From the Journey signage, it appeared this KOA had recently been upgraded to a Holiday. The campground was laid out nicely, with sites not squished together. The gravel pad was long enough for our 40' toy hauler, allowing us to drop the rear deck and still park our F450. Utilities were well-centered on the pad, and having two sewer hookups was especially convenient since we have two black tanks. Along with the usual deluxe patio amenities, we appreciated the astroturf lawn for our pups. Trees lined the side and back perimeters, but with none along the road side we had a clear Starlink shot. The campground also provided Starlink WiFi with download speeds around 22.8 Mbps. Water pressure was steady at 35–40 PSI. Verizon gave us 2 bars, while T-Mobile had none. Amenities included a tidy laundry with three front-load washers and three regular-sized dryers. A fun bonus was hearing sled dogs barking at Turning Heads Kennel next door, an Iditarod competitor offering kennel tours and sled dog rides both there and on the glacier. We also enjoyed watching eaglets in the nest right across from our site. The staff were very accommodating, even moving a grill for us and delivering a propane fill back to our site. Overall, this was a well-run campground with thoughtful upgrades and memorable surroundings.
