Below is a guide to popular Moab-area trails that are currently open, complete with experience levels and distances.

1. Corona Arch Trail

Distance: 3 miles round-trip
Experience Level: Moderate
A thrilling hike to the impressive Corona Arch and nearby Bowtie Arch, with cable and ladder assist sections. The trail crosses a railroad track, climbs slickrock, and winds through cairn-marked pathways. A bucket-list hike with minimal exposure.
Best for: Arch lovers, photography hikers, moderate hikers


2. Hunter Canyon Trail

Distance: 3.4 miles out-and-back (~250 ft gain)
Experience Level: Easy
Situated along a shady creek corridor, this family-friendly trail winds through cottonwoods and pool-filled creek beds, ending at Hunter Arch. Ideal for hot days and younger hikers.
Best for: Families, easy-day walkers, nature lovers


3. Jeep Arch Trail

Distance: 3.6 miles round-trip (~900 ft gain)
Experience Level: Moderate
This scenic hike ascends gradually beneath a railroad tunnel to Jeep Arch, with sweeping views of the Colorado River canyon. Well worth the steady climb.
Best for: Intermediate hikers, canyon views seekers


4. Mill Creek Trail (North Fork)

Distance: Up to 6 miles round-trip
Experience Level: Moderate
Follow a stream through desert canyons, pass petroglyphs on rock walls, and enjoy pools or small waterfalls. You can turn back any time depending on time or energy.
Best for: Moderate hikers, cultural hikers, scenic creek walkers


5. Dark Angel (via Devil’s Garden)

Distance: ~2.34 miles round-trip
Experience Level: Moderate to Strenuous
Starting near Double O Arch, this rugged route leads to the towering Dark Angel pillar through dramatic desert terrain. Suitable only for confident hikers comfortable with uneven rock and exposure.
Best for: Experienced adventurers, iconic rock formations fans


Special Access Conditions

  • Arches National Park Hikes such as Delicate Arch and Devil’s Garden remain open, but timed-entry permits may be required between April 1–July 6 and August 28–October 31, 2025. Parking lots may fill early during peak seasons. 

  • Trail openings are monitored regularly by Grand County Trails (via MoabTrailMix) and BLM—check before heading out.
