Gaze east and you'll understand why this campground is famous for its view.

Our KOA campground and RV park is conveniently located one mile from I-10, overlooking the amazing views of the Organ Mountains, Las Cruces, Mesilla Valley, and other nearby mountains.

Visit La Mesilla, known for its rich history and great cuisine. Shop for local specialties, chilies, and pecans at the popular farmers' market in downtown Las Cruces. Other area attractions include White Sands National Park & Missile Museum, Spaceport America Visitors Center, local wineries, and the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.

RVers can choose from breathtaking view sites, big-rig friendly pull-thru sites, KOA patio sites with fire pits, or even basic water and electric sites.

No worries if you don't have an RV. Our campground offers two types of tenting- either grass tenting with adjacent parking, or large gravel tenting- both come with water and electric, and all have a fire pit available for your use.

Don't want to pitch a tent? Don't want to deal with hot or cold weather? We're the only campground in Las Cruces to offer cabin rentals. Our one-room camping cabins offer AC or heat, small refrigerators with freezers, microwaves, streaming TVs (no cable or antenna), porch swings, charcoal grills and fire pits.

Many upgrades have taken place over the past few years, including Wi-Fi with which you can stream and zoom, paved streets, a new community room, a 24-hour remodeled laundry, and a new bathhouse. The new bathhouse offers four full-sized family bathrooms with toilet, sink and walk-in shower. And, we're pleased to announce a new ADA full-sized bathroom is available in our main building.

Free coffee and pastries are available daily from 8 AM to 10 AM in our Community Room. Pull up a chair and visit with fellow campers, or if you prefer take back to your rig and enjoy at your leisure.

Amenities include: a heated pool (in season/weather permitting), basketball, tetherball, cornhole, an updated playground, Kamp K9, patio swings, a community fire pit, and even a scenic walk.

Daily Site Trash Pick-Up is available from 8 AM to 12 PM. Just leave trash at the curb of your site and Maintenance will collect it.

Going to White Sands National Park for the day? Feel free to swing by the front office as we lend out sleds so you can enjoy the white sand dunes. Don't forget the wax. A Wash Your Paws Dog Wash area is available for use, located on the east side of our main bathhouse. And, there are even options for you to wash your RV while with us-just see one of our Front Desk Representatives for options. (Care Camp Donations are appreciated.)

Many come for one night and end up staying longer. We're certain you'll enjoy our campground and can't wait to meet you!

Pool: Mid-May – Sept 30th. Max pull thru 85 ft.

Your hosts: Leah & the Las Cruces KOA Team.

Campground History Lesson: The front desk is frequently asked how long our KOA has been here. Though Las Cruces KOA was originally built in the late 1960s, our KOA has been undergoing a major renovation over the last few years. We take pleasure in seeing our guests enjoy the many upgrades and take pride in keeping our campground clean and well-maintained. We're certain your visit will include many fun-filled memories that will last a lifetime.

Local Area Tidbits: Las Cruces is derived from the Spanish translation for “the crosses,” which is why we're known as being the "City of the Crosses."

Las Cruces is the second largest city in New Mexico, located in the southern part of the state at the intersecting I-10 and I-25 interchanges, about an hour from El Paso. Las Cruces is in Dona Ana County, with a population of around 224,000 people.

Las Cruces is part of the beautiful Chihuahuan Desert that's rich in cultural heritage and history.

Las Cruces has about 320 sunshiny days each year, and sits at an elevation of 3,900; with the majestic Organ Mountains rocky spires sitting at an elevation of 9,000 feet.

Las Cruces is the Home of New Mexico State University's Aggies. The University spans across 900 acres and serves over 20,000 students from all over the United States and the world.

State Cookie: biscochito (bizcochito)

The New Mexico Secretary of State published this recipe for the biscochito (bizcochito) on their website. These small anise-flavored cookies were brought to New Mexico by the early Spaniards, and the cookie is used for special celebrations, like wedding receptions, baptisms, the Christmas season, etc.

BISCOCHITO RECIPE
6 C. flour
1/4 Tsp. salt
3 Tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 C. sugar
2 Tsp. anise seeds
2 eggs
2 C. lard
1/4 C. brandy
1/4 C. sugar
1 Tbsp. cinnamon

Sift flour with baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, cream lard with sugar and anise seeds until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in flour and brandy until well blended. Refrigerate 2-3 hours. Turn dough out on a floured board and pat or roll to 1/4- or 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into shapes (the fleur-de-lis is traditional). Dust with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350° or until browned.
