45th Annual Boilermaker Race
The Boilermaker Road Race was established in 1978 by Earle C. Reed. Reed was looking for a way to give back to the community that had supported his family's business, Utica Radiator (now ECR International). The 15K road race, presented by Excellus BlueCross Blue Shield, began with just 876 runners and a budget of $750.
In 1983, renowned distance runner, Bill Rodgers, not only participated but won the race with a time of 44:38. Rodgers elevated the race by bringing both national exposure and credibility to the event. Since then, the Boilermaker has attracted elite runners from all over the world, including Olympians and world record holders. In fact, the Boilermaker has been named by the Analytical Distance Runner as the most competitive 15K road race in the world.
Today, the Boilermaker road race hosts over 17,000 runners per year. Boilermaker Weekend offers events for participants of every age and skill level. It has grown to include fitness and special events, such as a 5K Race, a 3 Mile Walk, a Kids' Run, a Community Mile, Youth Olympics, a Health and Fitness Expo, and more. Designed around the weekend's crown jewel, the Boilermaker 15K Road Race, Boilermaker Weekend promotes a healthy lifestyle with a focus on fun, family, and community spirit!

Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival
The Mohawk Valley's climate and soils are ideal for growing garlic and herbs, which is why we have so many local producers. Ours is a non-profit agricultural festival; we aim to provide information to area would-be farmers and gardeners pertaining to the benefits of growing these crops. We also support the local arts community by including musicians and local artisans in our festival—and by donating a portion of the proceeds to our outstanding Canal Place neighbor and local non-profit Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts.
Bluegrass, Blues, and BBQ Festival
The Little Falls Bluegrass Festival (Bluegrass, Brews & BBQ) offers music for all ages, celebrating creative expression and nurturing the art of songwriting. The one-day free festival will be held on September 17th, 2022 from 12 pm to 9 pm in the city's historic Canal Place, an open-air family-friendly environment with continuous music, beer, and bbq throughout the day.
Little Falls Cheese Festival!
The Little Falls Cheese Festival has become known as New York State's premier gathering of cheesemakers, reminiscent of its early history as the nation's cheese market capital. With 80 booths, 22 New York cheesemakers, and over 120 varieties of cheese to sample, the 2021 festival drew an estimated 8,000 visitors to the community from all over the Northeast.
