Successful Season Ending in National Glamping Spotlight

(October 15, 2019) The Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday has completed its third full season under the ownership of Mark & Karla Lemoine, and they celebrate the success of having hosted more than 13,000 guests from all over the United States and 15 countries.

“Outdoor hospitality is extremely popular, and relatively affordable in comparison to other types of vacations, and we’re pleased to help showcase southwest Michigan as tourists and leisure travelers come from all over the world to enjoy our corner of the state” said Mark. “The investments that we’ve made over the past three and a half years are paying off with overwhelming response from guests who quite simply are enjoying a more exceptional camping experience with their friends and families.”

Those investments include refreshing 10 basic cabins, two Deluxe Cabins and adding three luxury glamping tents, which has propelled the Coloma/St/ Joseph KOA Holiday into the national spotlight, as Kampgrounds of America released its first-of-its-kind North American Glamping Report.

“We’ve been tracking glamping as an emerging travel trend for the past several years as we’ve seen growing demand for different types of glamping experiences, and Deluxe Cabins in particular, at our KOA campgrounds across North America,” said KOA President and CEO Toby O’Rourke. “The results of this new research reinforce that North American travelers are in fact seeking different ways to experience the outdoors, even if they aren’t traditional campers. One of the most interesting findings in the report was how the self-definitions of glamping varied among travelers, indicating that there’s interest in a variety of glamping experiences. This presents opportunities for those in the outdoor industry to innovate and create the types of glamping experiences today’s traveler seeks.”

Ms. O’Rourke will be travelling to the Glamping Summit/USA event in Aurora, Colorado next week to share of the Lemoine’s success and other franchisees like them within the KOA system.  In a recent email to franchisees, she states, “This event will bring together providers, vendors and others interested in advancing or starting glamping operations.  I will be speaking on the topic of integrating glamping into an existing campground and will be sharing best practices and lessons learned from across our system. There's no company more qualified to speak on this topic.”
