The perfect campgrounds for families on the Outer Banks! My son didn't want to leave the playground and trampoline! Cape Hatteras KOA is gonna be my go to campground whenever I go camping at the OBX!!

The beachside spots are premium priced but other than the location, they were not well kept. The pads were not level and pretty broken up. The swimming pool was great and the staff was nice.

We were backed up to the dunes and steps away from access to the beach. We got up in the morning to watch the sun rise and then after dinner walked over the road to watch the sunset

We had a great time, we loved having beach acess, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and the breakfast food at Tina's is delicious! My one complaint would be that the bathrooms were definitely not cleaned on a daily basis, other than that, I would still recommend this campground.

NO INTERNET at our site! My wife teaches a college level course online. We needed to go to office building lounge which did have quick connect service. Also, without internet at our site the new smart TV in our RV was of no use. Our extended stay encountered high winds and storm for the first two days. This caused erosion, losing walkways.We never set foot on the beach. A one day !0% was offered

Came in not knowing what to expect and was highly satisfied with our stay and campsite. Especially appreciated the escort service to our site. Lots of options for those not using a camper too and right on the ocean! Would recommend this campground.

Enjoyed our stay. Bathroom and shower were clean, although the shower #1 didn’t have anywhere to put your stuff when showering, need shelf but noticed the others had a chair. The laundry worked great, no problems. A little difficult to get to beach need to have boardwalk to get down for older people but otherwise ok. Would definitely come back.

We had a great stay. We loved how close to the beach we were. We could also walk across the street to watch the sunset as well. The pool area was as nice. The new beach steps also were great. It would be great if you could add a bike rack near the beach area close to the entrance and bathroom area.

We were led to our site with the person wanting us to turn way too tight for a big rig and then, had us headed into the pull through in the wrong direction. So instead of a very easy pull through, we got routed around the park and got a scratch on our rig from the trees. Tight roads with big rocks you are supposed to drive over when you turn--no thanks!

We had an excellent site that we had paid extra to reserve. Unfortunately Mother Nature created a problem with beach access and we met every beach goer that came through our site. Most were respectful and acknowledge that they were going through our quiet spot but some came through with bikes, dogs, and all their beach equipment with no regards for our privacy. Info a check in would have helped.

Updates to beach access were appreciated. A notice of the burn ban would've helped. Also, the area for the dump station has too much of a small hump. Essentially, when pulled up to use, the rv is tilted forward prohibiting all the fluids to escape, some remains trapped in the low area of the tanks.

One of the Best campgrounds in the states!!!! 6 Stars The Location, place, facilities, store, amenities, staff, laundry, everything there was perfect!!! At the store, Roberto helped us, and the golf cart young man who guided us to our site was very positive and willing to help. I will give 6 Stars!!!

The staff was excellent and the daily maintenance of the grounds was good. Layout was fine, although a bit cramped in some locations. Not the KOA’s fault, but the wind was a big downer on the camping experience… outside personal property had to be secured/stowed, awnings retracted, and a fire ban was in effect the entire week. Beach accesses were washed out due to the wind as well.

The wind really ruined our stay. A heated pool could have offset the wind and made the stay more enjoyable. The campground is set up wonderfully, and was usually fairly clean. Bathrooms could have used a bit more cleaning!

What a beautiful place, unfortunately we had bad weather. My wife and I still had great time. The staff very accommodating and welcoming. Definitely a place I will recommend.

I nice RV resort especially if you have kids. They had problem with beach access during our stay. But if was fix so at the end of the stay we were able to get on beach.

Very nice campground! Lots of amenities! Unfortunately we could not complete our stay because of an accident, but the staff was very gracious to refund two nights that we couldn’t use.

Loved our stay here. Staff is super friendly and helpful from the front desk to the workers around the campground keeping it clean. Two minor complaints/suggestions….K9 corral needs another dog waste bin in the larger side. Dune sites should not be for the larger rigs we had a very difficult time backing in and getting out. Very unsafe and should be limited to smaller rvs.

We had the BEST time this past Easter weekend at the Cape Hatteras KOA! The kids had so much fun cruising around from activity to activity, and they were never bored. We can’t wait to go back next year!

We stayed in a tent and a trailer tent, and it was awesome! Staff was very friendly as were all the other campers. My only complaint was that coffee was not available until 8AM. �

The gift shop, pool/hot tub area, playground were all very nice! The s’mores activity for the kids was great! The facilities were not clean- dirty floors, overflowing trash can.

Had a wonderful stay (27 Mar - 04 Apr 2026). The staff is very friendly and attentive. Amazing facilities and amenities. The only thing that would have made the stay better if it was not for the NC state-wide fire ban.

I booked an Oceanfront spot so I could sit and look at the water and also access the beach easily. This location has NO ocean views! You’re looking at the dunes. I understand the need for dunes BUT, you should not charge someone $100 to look at sand dunes. Also, we were there for 2 nights and there was no access to the beach- they started fixing them on our 2nd day, but still fixing as we left!

There is no enforcement of rules. People are constantly playing on the endangered dunes, and our neighbors sat out and partied until midnight-two hours after quiet hours. Also, there was a statewide burn ban that included all NC counties that started Saturday night and the employees were delivering firewood at 8 pm Sunday evening and that's what the neighbors partied around-an illegal campfire

My only suggestion would be to have the camp workers (some, not all) clean up their sites some. I have no problem with older, not perfect trailers but broken down trucks with flat tires and junk should not be allowed. This was, unfortunately, our view for the 12 days we were there.

Nice area. Very clean. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Lots of amenities. Many things were still closed due to off season, but still had a nice time in the area.

The campground has a variety of arrangements including small cabins, dog areas, covered picnic areas on individual camp spot. It has a pool, hot tub volleyball sand area all that I didn't use. There is a small store where you check in. They also cook on site. They have activities during the day: bingo, train rides for kids, karaoke etc. The campground doesn't back up to the beach; its more like a narrow shoreline. The current access to this is a series of narrow multiple level steps. How would anyone be able to carry cooler, chair, towels etc down to just gaze at the water seems unsafe. I didn't see anyone do that. Instead I had to travel to visited another beach. People friendly. Bathrooms were alright. They also have washer/dryers (didn't use). The parking areas are mostly gravel. It has rain before I got there and some places had pools of water. It was nice to hear the ocean sounds at night when it got dark and quite. There was a nice breeze during my entire trip.

All in all a great campground for a beach vacation. No boardwalks, high rise hotels, tourist areas, malls or tee shirt shops every 1/2 mile, just beach, ocean inlets, a few restaurants and surf shops. . Some things to keep in mind when planning your camping trip. Do not get an RV site on the main roads. Foot traffic, kids on bikes and other toys, dog walkers and folks going back and forth to the beach. You won't have any privacy or peace and quiet. The paw pens are not secure and won't contain a big aggressive dog. There is definitely a roach problem. I witnessed an infestation around the outside sink on the bath house near our RV site and was in the office when 2 people were complaining to the staff about the problem in their deluxe cabins. Did not affect us in our RV. Also, some office staff can be very condescending and rude (witness that also). Ask to speak to management if you have a problem. There are some staff trailers on the perimeter and a small area of long term residents that could use some sprucing up. The front section could definitely use some covered trash cans as the birds can get very aggressive before trash is picked up! Easy access to ocean and inlet for spectacular sunsets and sunrises, great dog parks and lots of kids activities during the season. Knowing what I know now, will return.
