This was our first time visiting this KOA campground and our first time visiting Outer Banks. We have been to several other KOA campgrounds and this one was my favorite! The pool area was my favorite place to spend the week. The bathhouse was always avaliable and clean when I used it and the staff was so friendly. We will definitely be back again!

Site 406, July 2026. Super friendly staff. Check in was fast and easy. Bath houses very clean. Well stocked camp store. Site grass not cut, rather tall with ants. Big complaint. Ppl fishing on the beach where we were in the waves. Witnessed camper step on a fishing hook needing medical treatment. Fishing lines thrown landing within feet of ppl out in the waves. Prob need fishing areas.

I put in 40 ft as my camper length. The site we were assigned was an end site and the camper took up the entire site. Because it was an end site there was no room to put up anything else or even really park a vehicle without encroaching on the neighbors beside/behind us. That site should be listed as 25 ft max for a camper.

We were asked to pick a site when we booked our trip and were given a couple options. We choose the one we felt was best for our needs. When we arrived we were given a totally different site telling us you can’t reserve sites the computer randomly picks unless we had paid which was not sent to us before that. The roadways are horrible. The site pads are nothing but broken down asphalt

Had a good time. Love being close to the ocean. I'm sure I will visit again. Probably in the off season to help manage the cost.

Everything is as perfect except one major part. I booked two deluxe cabins and then called the next day to request two cabins side by side next on the same deck. When I arrived, they change the cabins I requested and just refunded me the additional fee. But we are left extremely frustrated because I booked these back in December and made plans for our families to be next to each other.

Staff was very helpful, the store was well stocked. The restaurant food was great, the pool area was very clean.

Customer service is great here. We do notice things changing though. It seemed you had minimal staff because we used to order ice and wood and it would be delivered quickly. It appeared only a few guys were riding around and must be carrying a bigger load of tasks. Too bad we can no longer text FUN or TIKI BAR and the info would pop up. We love the proximity to the ocean though, and will return

It was a relaxing and fun filled experience. The cabin was clean, and well designed. Very cozy, and the deck, fire pit, fridge, and grill were awesome additions. We'll definitely be back!

Everything was great as usual. Bathrooms could be cleaned more often. We stayed in the newer rustic cabin. The description says sheets and towels included, but the towels actually are not. Apparently the grey throws are considered towels. This description is deceptive. I wish there was at least one night stand with drawers to put clothes away, keep the phone and night light on.

we arrived to the deluxe cabin, I thought there would’ve been a stove. But it wasn’t. I went to check out the beds and the two bunk beds had ants crawling on them. I immediately called the front-they sent someone to come clean them. I don’t think the previous housekeeper cleaned very well. There were dog hairs on the sofa and fur balls on the floor. I think they need to do a little upgrading

There were ants and roaches in our cabin. There was also black mold on the ceiling above the top bunk bed and in the bathroom above the vanity and door. The grass around our cabin was high. The door was also hard to open/close. It needed a refresh overall. But it was quiet and our kids enjoyed the pool and playground.

Deluxe cabins overpriced-too filthy, bunk beds too small and matresses hard as rock. we have stayed here growing up. sadly, the direction the KOA is going is not family friendly. The Tiki bar opened every night is ridiculous- open drinking in the pool-gross, the hot tub same thing. The culture now created is nothing but ongoing drinking every night and kids unsupervised Will not recommend.

We along with our 2 dogs had a very nice time. Every where we walked was amazing, truly wish we could have stayed longer. I’m recovering from breast cancer, so unfortunately I still have some outstanding bills due. Overall I would highly recommend anyone who wants to camping to check out this area. I would love to come back and stay longer.

Stayed in a cabin, ac was pathetic, beds were pathetic, cabin smelled like mildew and musk. We left early beautiful place pathetic cabin would not reccomend

Campground is very well maintained and responses to requests were fast and efficient. Lots of activities for the kids and amenities galore!!

Great lodging except for very little hot water. Kids thoroughly enjoyed the activities and we appreciated the cleanliness of the pool area and room! The glow train was a big hit!!! Would be nice if the steps leading to beach area could be cleaned up from the sand every so often. Just something I noticed. Thank you KOA!! Even through the rain you helped to brighten our vacation!!!

Office/store staff is just not friendly. KOA's are known for that not this one. Washing machines broken quite a bit. Flooded. Beach access is perfect. Pool is beautiful and clean. Great communication by texts. The store needs more food. Cafe so nice maybe sone snacks? Pretzels nachos etc. Great staff. Definitely recommend

Not friendly when I called. When I arrived, I had to wait at check-in despite 2 workers standing there. Finally escorted to site by an employee with a worn out t-shirt. But he was nice and didn't know why he wasn't called down to escort us. Luckily, there are more camping choices. This one isn't up to KOA standards. Paid for a premium site $$$$ and the faucet was broken.

We had alot of rain and changes in activities and weather updates. It would be great if there was an option to add other numbers to the alert system. I did get updates but my husband would have liked to have received updates as well. We have been coming to this KOA since 2015, we LOVE it here and will continue coming back.

Loved the campground is amazing and so is the access to the beach. For us we had a bad storm that made it impossible to go to the beach or do anything else we depend 6 days in the camper. It rained everyday non stopped and there was flooding. The camp ground is great I would go back not in rainy season which it’s late July.

The one glaring problem is the hospitality of the front desk. Activity directors were amazing. Front Desk needs to take a class in customer service.

We loved our stay. It is the second summer we chose Cape Hatteras KOA. There is an inviting vacation atmosphere. We enjoyed the live music by the pool and brought a game to play. The large pool accommodates all ages. The women’s bathrooms were being repaired, but the family bathrooms were available. The campground staff is welcoming, helpful, and friendly. We plan on returning next summer.

This was year 18. We love our annual 4th of July week. We stayed in the deluxe cabins with the full kitchen. It was so convenient. Of course the campground needs updating like paint and rotten wood. Salt air will do that. I did have to buy fans. For the cost it should be cool enough. Only bad thing was my sisters car window was shattered by kids throwing rocks. See ya next year!

I loved it! Grounds were clean, close beach entrances, pool was awesome and just overall a great experience. I would definitely return!

This is the second time we've stayed at this campground. It is very nice. This year it was a last minute pivot (long story) so we were unable to book the premium sites by the office. We had site 226 and it was closer to the beach so that was a plus. They were still cleaning up from a nor'easter so there was some debris around that they were cleaning up. No big deal. Our site did not offer a lot of shade and our awnings didn't help either. So I'd get a sight where your camper shields the sun. Centrally located to lots of things to do. Office staff very nice. We ended up having to evacuate because another nor'easter was coming in. Aww the adventure of RVing!

I love this spot, especially on October. We travel by RV, but there are plenty of cabin options for other family and friends to meet us there. This year we were chased out by a storm/mandatory evacuation, but staff handles the evacuation smoothly and refunds were given instantly. I try to come every year.
