Campground Reviews

I absolutely love the area. The campground seemed a little run down. Along the right side were a few untagged , appeared to be broke down or junk car/ trucks. In the same area were 3-4 campers the were decaying on site. I would guess these were employees rv,s as there were a shambles of beach gear piled around them.

This was our first time staying at a KOA and are hooked! Very clean, friendly staff, quiet at night, immaculate bath houses. Overall just an amazing experience, and we can’t wait to go back!

other than the sites being very close the only other issue we had was not with koa, but with other campers . people not picking up after their dogs and walking thru our campsite letting their dogs poop where I had to pick up so I didn't step in it after dark. I have dogs and camp with dogs and always pick up. don't know how to fix others:(

Great location, lots of nice amenities to enjoy. Got a 4 due to the VERY wet lot we were put on. Must of had a leak in a pipe or two, extremely wet and soft the whole time we were there.

So many activities FUN for all ages. CLEAN! Not huge lots, but comfy. Beach access AND sound access. V at the Tiki Bar is fun! The pool & spa tub crystal clear. Pool has a lap section! Who has that? Would stay again.

Windy!!!

Camp sites need more maintenance. Perhaps paving them. We've been coming to Outer Banks OBX for years and the sites are showing their age. We will be back anyway, though. Great beach.

It’s always great to stay at KOA outterbanks!

Campground and facilities were well maintained and clean. Received daily text messages with activity information. We will be back!!

AWESOME!! We loved it. WE came down during the hurricanes; however, the cabin on the beach was beyond words. Wake up in the morning and watch the sunrise, have several cups of coffee, watch the ocean (even if a bit rough), and then have breakfast there. Staff were perfect. Cabin was very clean with everything in it. Slept great. Great shower. We spent hours sitting on the deck watching the ocean..

wi-fi was spotty and dogs in park barking incisively thru out the day

I was looking forward to my first stay at a KOA campground. It would be hard to be more disappointed. Overrated, overpriced and overcrowded. A 100% let down in every way. It is hard to imagine that any person with two or more braincells could possibly look at this muddy cesspool of pond scum as a vacation destination. The next KOA was just as vile and overpriced. A motel was a cheaper alternative

Overall, a great facility and location. Everything well maintained. Staff was very friendly. On the down side, cable and wifi weak or non-existent.

The first site we were assigned to had been severely damaged by a truck spinning its tires in the grass, leaving large ruts which were filled with water. This was not acceptable and should have been obvious to the staff beforehand. However, upon request, we were reassigned a different site which was acceptable. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay, and I would stay there again.

Both myself and my friend tripped over the fire pits at night….you can not see them because they are black! Luckily I didn’t get hurt but my friend did. Also our spot was “low” so we were in standing water literally outside our RV after it rained. Other than that, we enjoyed the stay (minus the mosquitoes)

Very nice. It’s our first time back in about 23 years. Would recommend camping there.

We were the only bacon surrounded by 4 cabins being worked on the whole trip with lots of tool notices and couldn’t even put my child down for a nap in our cabin during the day. It started at 8am and they worked until 6pm.. other than that it was a great experience.

My wife and I came in September. It was our first time camping at the outer banks and thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Hatteras KOA. We plan to come back sooner than later. This is a very nice campground!

Stayed in a camping cabin. Cabin was pretty nice and beds comfortable. Bathhouse was nicely built but very poorly maintained. Showers were not hot and the entire facility was very dirty with quite the smell to it. They were not cleaned while we were there either.

Great stay friendly staff just one issue we found many campsites seemed to have long term guests and campsites were not kept up for the price we paid little disappointing to see

Even with the rain, our family reunion was perfect! The activities you provided were awesome. The kids had a blast!

Nice facilities and personnel but need to spend a little money into updating hookups and Wi-Fi. Facilities were clean and maintained

The cabin I stayed in needed some maintenance. The door did not shut properly. There were ants in the kitchen. The grill did not work and had to be fixed.

Having stayed at this KOA several years ago for only a few days, we were exited to take an extended (11 days) vacation there. To say we were somewhat disappointed is putting it mildly. We paid premium prices for our site, based on WI-FI availability, as well as cable for times that we weren’t on the beach or out & about. The WI-FI was poor at best, & cable unsatisfactory, was a 2 out of 10. ???

Great location, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices in both the store and onsite activities/bar. Needs some work on the roads - potholes and lots of standing water when it rains. Tables / pool furniture was dirty and needed a power wash. Picked a campsite that was supposed to be a "short walk to the beach" - technically it was - but the steps from the dunes to the beach were washed away.

Site 100 was pretty neat to people watch at the beach access. Not intrusive, but the sewer hook up there was a challenge. Height of our RV was not compatible with the hookup, but we made it work. Lots of activities and great pool and music. Beach areas are receding so be prepared for high tide when you set up out there.

We got 2 sites and tent camped here for 2 nights with 5 kids and 6 adults, including my elderly parents. Everyone enjoyed the trip. Beach during the day and pool time in the evening was great! The kids had a blast on the Glow Train. Our sites were thankfully next to each other and had a fire pit, grill, water, electric and picnic table with a cover. We'll be back!

The campground has a variety of arrangements including small cabins, dog areas, covered picnic areas on individual camp spot. It has a pool, hot tub volleyball sand area all that I didn't use. There is a small store where you check in. They also cook on site. They have activities during the day: bingo, train rides for kids, karaoke etc. The campground doesn't back up to the beach; its more like a narrow shoreline. The current access to this is a series of narrow multiple level steps. How would anyone be able to carry cooler, chair, towels etc down to just gaze at the water seems unsafe. I didn't see anyone do that. Instead I had to travel to visited another beach. People friendly. Bathrooms were alright. They also have washer/dryers (didn't use). The parking areas are mostly gravel. It has rain before I got there and some places had pools of water. It was nice to hear the ocean sounds at night when it got dark and quite. There was a nice breeze during my entire trip.
