Bats of Austin
Instead of bird watching, try bat watching. From March to October, you can see 1.5 million bats emerge from the underside of the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. The bats typically emerge 20 minutes before sunset and fly eastward. Viewers can watch from the bridge or set up a blanket on the hillside below the bridge.
