The sand is white and soft, perfect for beachgoers who just want to laze for a few hours or sunbathe all day. Many other beach activities can also be enjoyed here, with rental shops offering jet skis and other water sports equipment at affordable prices. There's also a cute little carousel for families with kids, lots of good restaurants, and local bars. Saltwater fishing is also popular in the Misquamikat area, with a boat dock at one end of the beach and a variety of fishing charters nearby.
2. Ocean Beach Park is more than just a Mystic CT beach; it's a family-friendly attraction offering a variety of fun activities. You can spend the whole day at Ocean Beach Park and still have to come back because you don't have enough time to do everything! The park itself spans about 50 acres and features a plethora of attractions, including an Olympic-sized freshwater pool, scenic nature trails, a half-mile boardwalk, and many great places to sit, rest, and have a picnic with friends or family. Ocean Beach Park is also equipped with rides, games, arcades, mini-golf and a play area for the little ones. The beach itself is a long, wide stretch of sand with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding countryside. In short, Ocean Beach Park is one of the must-see attractions in the Mystic area, just 10-15 minutes from downtown.
3. If you want to visit the beach without having to hop in a car and drive away from Mystic, Williams Beach Park is the place for you. Located at the end of Harry Austin Drive, this beach area is equipped with all the typical amenities and fun attractions of a park, including a large grassy field for picnics, children's play areas, sports fields, and more. This mysterious beach is small but pleasant, with beautiful views of the city's coastline. The waves can vary here, but swimming is possible on calm days. There are no lifeguards on duty at Williams Beach Park, so if you are traveling with young children, be sure to keep an eye on them.
4. The last beach to make sure you check is Half-Mile Beach, and per its namesake, Napatree Point is a unique little sandy spit, which is also a conservation area. The beach is located in the Watch Hill area near Westerly, and the beach stretches out into the Sound. Napatree Point Half-Mile Beach was originally named due to the many trees that were found in the area, but storms over the years have caused much of the vegetation to be washed away, leaving a sandy area with low-lying grasses. Napatree Point has some of the best beach views from anywhere in the Mystic area. It is only a short drive from town, and the beach is very popular with wildlife and nature enthusiasts. It is common to spot foxes and deer roaming the area, as well as many different species of seabirds.
