Meet Your Hosts

Open May 1 - October 15

Enjoy and relax in a quiet country setting, or the friendly social atmosphere of other campers.

Located in a quiet setting in beautiful Central Ontario just off the Trans-Canada Highway.

Come for the night, stay for the week, a month, or the whole season. Enjoy and relax in a quiet country setting, or the friendly social atmosphere of other campers.

Activities include indoor heated pool with large hot tub (opens May Long Weekend) and outdoor pool with kid's paddle boat pond. We have spacious shady RV sites, pull throughs, back-ins, tent sites, Kamping Kabins and RV rentals.

You'll find plenty of recreational opportunities; fishing, hiking, ATV trails, fun cycles, mini golf, 2 playgrounds, children's program in July & August, hay rides, arcade, big screen TV, movies, recreational hall for BINGO and other planned activities, and fun-filled events.

This is a great campground for ATV enthusiasts and cyclists - a spectacular recreational trail follows an old railroad line from Lake Ontario north almost to Algonquin Park. The multiuse pathway runs through thick forests and past rivers and lakes, much of it wilderness. Our campground lies right alongside the trail. The entire region shows nature at its best, from spring blooms to fall colors.

Enjoy sparkling waters and the natural untouched beauty of the many lakes and rivers in the area. Marmora offers a view of early Ontario mining history, interesting gift shops, and a recreation trail leading south to Lake Ontario and north almost to Algonquin Park.

Twenty-four years ago when Dan and Alexandra Petr arrived from the Czech Republic to Canada, they didn't expect to become KOA campground owners. Both worked in the computer business-Dan as a consultant and Alexandra as a system administrator.

"We were in the computer business for a long time and wanted to get out of the big city to a country setting," Dan said. The lifetime campers wanted to do something different and decided a campground business was "a natural way for us to go," Dan said.

The location of the campground and its strong business potential attracted the Petrs. "We decided to go for it," Dan said.

They are proud of the family oriented campground they run with the good services and recreational activities available. "We give the people the best service they deserve," Dan said. "We want people to leave with a good impression and great memories."

The couple still likes to get out and camp in their RV. Dan said their great team of staff is what allows them to travel and to make their campground solid.

"We wouldn't be able to do it by ourselves."

The Greensides’ Farm This Farm is within walking distance from the campground. It is off Hwy #7 and just west of KOA Campground Road. A family farm was converted several years ago into a retreat area, including a large walking trail for Stations of the Cross, and a beautiful woodsy rosary path. A natural setting open to anyone for prayer or just a peaceful walk.

Marmora Iron Mine One mile west of the campground, turn left off Hwy #7- an open pit iron ore mine, measuring nearly 700 feet deep, was mined up until 1978. The surface dimensions measure more than 1500 by 2800 feet. Now filling with pure spring water, the effect is spectacular. A look-out point off the roadway affords a perfect view and a chance to collect iron ore samples.

Lang Pioneer Village (Peterborough) The Village is open daily from mid-May to mid-October. Hours of operation are Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Holiday Mondays from 1 to 5 p.m. Every Sunday there are special events, demonstrations and displays. The Visitor Center is open year-round. Some attractions include Milburn House, Tinsmith Shop, David Fife’s Log Cabin, Barge, Glen Alda Methodist Church and much more.
